I believe you on the mowing. That would be a good work-out, for sure.
I did now exercise yesterday. Today I walked 4 miles and line danced for an hour.
I see to do well on an every-other-day exercise plan.

Yesterday and today I did 3 mega miles. I am hoping the grass dries and the rain holds off so I can get some push mowing done. Push mowing is one of the higher calorie burns on the spark fitness tracker!

Karmin, mowing would be great exercise!
Yesterday I did not exercise. Today I walked 4 miles outside (to town and back).
It is a beautiful day here.

Sue, that yard work is a great way to add in some extra cardio without planning a formal workout session. I'm sure you used some new muscles in different ways! Way to go on getting in those miles today too!

Today I did not walk. We did some yard work but it was mostly just planting a few flowers for me. Yesterday I got a lot of cardio. I did 3 Mega Miles in the morning and then push mowed for 90 minutes in the afternoon.

Way to go ladies! I had my vein ablation on Wednesday and I did 3 mega miles that morning since my appointment wasn't until afternoon. I had to go back yesterday for a follow-up Doppler study and everything is looking good. I was given clearance for full activity as tolerated. This morning I was back to 3 mega miles with no soreness. I do have to wear compression stockings for a month post surgery and that will take some getting used to when it comes to exercising especially as the summer heats up. I have the left leg done on June 5th.

Yesterday, May 15th, I did my line dance work-out for an hour with friends. I would say this is about the equivalent of 4 Leslie miles.

I walked on Tuesday, May 14th.
I walked/ran around the living room for 50 minutes while I watched TV.
I also used bands similar to their use in 3 Mega Miles.

Loving the 3 Mega miles for the second go round today! I was so glad I got it in yesterday morning as I didn't have much opportunity to walk at the surgery center. Things went smoothly though and I had her home by 4 p.m.

Great workout Sue! I finally got the 3 Mega Miles workout in Saturday's mail so that is what I did this morning. Loved it!! So many different moves from the usual and the time flew by. Today I'm taking my mother-in-law for her gallbladder surgery and will be spending the day at the surgery center and bringing her home when she is released. So I'm really glad I got my workout in this morning before a day of sitting around. I'll try to get in some walking while there but not sure what the set up is.

Today I did Tuesday walk (4 miles) on the DVD 5 Day Walk Plan.
In the past I had done it while also watching TV, but today I just did it all by itself.
So I was able to hear the music this time. I did like what I heard.....a little more unique and peppy.....and one "real" song (Rollin' on the River). I did like the work-out. I felt I needed a break from the bands.

I'm sure the pom poms added a whole new level of fun and intensity to your dance workout! Sounds like a blast!

Yesterday I drove to Stillwater, MN to visit my son and family. Left at 6:30 a.m. and got home at 8:30 p.m so no walking for me. It rained the entire day or I would have gotten out for a walk with the stroller and grandbaby.

Today I did the 2 mile walk strong and then a 2 mile brisk walk that is part of the WATP series.

Today I did the 3 Mega Miles work-out and then did the second mile on Walk Slim, Fast & Firm, 4 Really Big Miles.

I definitely think that varying work-out between Leslie, line dancing, and walking outside is the way to go. Each uses the legs/hips/ankles/feet a little differently and I think this has a lot of value.

BTW, last night we used pom poms with one of the line dances.....did it to the Jonas Bros song, Pom Poms. Fun (as well as funny)!

Wow, Karmin, good for you!!!
On May 8 I did not exercise.
On May 9 I line danced with my friends for about an hour (actually 45 minutes if you adjust for conversation). We now have a line dance to Pom Poms and we use pom poms! That worked up a sweat!

This morning I did the Monday 3-mile workout of the ultimate 5 day challenge. Then, I did the Walk strong 2 mile workout with resistance band intervals. It has lots of squats and lunges so I've been trying to incorporate that workout at least 3 days a week to work more on my problem areas!

Now, on to some outside activity and soaking up some sunshine in the process!

Awesome Sue! Getting in that walk when you weren't feeling particularly motivated was such a great choice. I find the same thing...once I get up and get going it feels so good. We need to battle and conquer those thoughts that vegging on the couch is what will make us feel good. Plus, once I get in the vegging mode I'm looking for a snack to indulge in! emoticon

Tuesday, May 7, I worked in AM and did laundry at the laundromat in the afternoon.
After supper and dishes, I decided to try to walk in the evening, rather than crashing on the couch like I felt doing. I walked for an hour -- about 4 miles I'd guess. It was BEAUTIFUL out, and I really enjoyed it.

It did feel good to get back to Zumba for a little different activity. I had a little trouble getting motivated first thing this morning but eventually I did put in the ultimate 5 day walk challenge and did the Friday 5-mile workout. Sometimes all it takes is getting up and getting started and I find out I'm having fun. LOL

Your rest day was well deserved after such a busy weekend!

Wow! Sounds like your line dancing lessons were a huge success! How cool that you reconnected with some old dancing buddies and got lots of newcomers to participate! Sounds like a wonderful time and great memories. Congrats on a successful venture!

I had a rest day today. Tomorrow I am going to Zumba class and will probably get a little walking in as well.

Got a LOT of dancing in at the fundraiser yesterday! First lesson was at 6;30 PM and then had one hour straight of dancing. Realized then I had better pace myself if I was going to last until 11:00 PM. Yikes! I taught a couple more dances and for one of them, at prime time, the floor was totally full and they all were able to learn the dance! That was the greatest! We continued to find dances to do to many of the songs. Some of my dancing buddies from about 20 years ago were there and on the floor. Another great moment was the last dance. The band said they wanted EVERYBODY on the floor ---there were about 40 people just dancing and having a great time. Towards the end of the last dance we clasped hands and made a big circle, moving forward with hands high and then backwards out to a big circle. One of those special moments I'll remember forever......what I live for!
So today I am sitting around relaxing with my feet up!

This morning I started with the Walk Strong 2 mile walk with strength training intervals. Waited an hour or so and then did 2 miles off the Ultimate 5 day walk plan.

Thinking of you today, Sue, as you are at your fundraiser and teaching those dances!

Good for you Sue! That is great you are all set for Saturday! What a great thing to be teaching others the line dancing and I know you are going to have a ball with it. You will be getting in an awesome workout with all that dancing! I'm sure I am going to love the 3 Mega Miles! I can hardly wait to get it. Should be next week!

This morning I was back to my 4 Really Big Miles workout. I skipped Zumba because believe it or not we have freezing rain and ice keeping me homebound today. This is beyond ridiculous!!

On Thursday, May 2, I line danced for an hour. My dancers are ready for Saturday!
We are hoping to have lots of fun and share that with others that don't dance much. The band plays from 7- 11. We are having lessons from 6:30-7 and then during band breaks. We will also dance as much as possible while the band plays. Wow!!

Sounds like a fun summery day and you can't help but get out and enjoy those with all the icky weather we've had this spring. Enjoy the line dancing tonight!

I did 4 miles with Leslie this morning. I didn't do the boosts just to be on the safe side but I still managed to work up a sweat. Tomorrow I can up my activity level to full steam ahead so I plan to do a Zumba class and some walking. I had a bone graft with this extraction which is the reason I have to be a little more careful. I guess too vigorous of activity can disturb things in there.

Yesterday is day 2 in a row of not walking. Yesterday I had intended to walk....but a few other things intervened. The weather was amazing....82 degrees and sunny. We launched the boat, put the cover on the dock, went for a boat ride, went out to dinner by boat, went for another boat ride,& had a fire in the chiminea. I guess it was like summer a rolled into one day!! Tonight is line dancing practice with friends. I'll get back on track !!

Debbie, congrats on increasing your steps! Your attitude is great and it is very motivating to hear how you are pushing yourself in spite of some challenges. So glad to have you with us as you work on your step challenge. Just a side note, if you use your pedometer for your walks with Leslie, the count is probably not going to be accurate since some of the moves like side steps do not necessarily register on the pedometer. I keep track of my miles rather than my steps and track it on the calendar but either way just wanted you to be aware that a pedometer may not register these walks accurately.

Getting back into walking is very slow going, but I tell myself, we all have to start somewhere, and after being home bound for so long taking care of my spouse, undergoing some health issues and surgeries myself, I have to be patient, and so I will be.

I began a "step" challenge with my team that began yesterday and will end June 21st. I hope by then to be up to 10,000 steps a day. Yesterday I did 966, today 1008 and pushed through the soreness and pain in my left knee, but tonight I think my knee feels a bit better having done some exercise.

I'm not making excuses for myself that is not the person I am, I believe in being open and honest that is who I am and have always been. I journal my experiences not just here but in a private journal here at home, as I don't want to forget where I began. I think sometimes we get caught up in our journeys and as time passes we lose sight of all the hard work and where we began and how much better we are having arrived at a new place. I don't want to forget. I don't mean to ramble, but if any of you are at that place where you are doubting yourself, not getting the results you were hoping for, learn to be patient, think back on where it all began for you, look at old journal entries, pictures and pat yourself on the back, be proud, and keep on reaching for your goals and spread the spark with others.

Have a good night everyone. So glad to be here with the team. emoticon

The fundraiser is indoors at the local community center. There will be a band that I have never heard and we are going to try to do a lot of dancing. I am going to teach dances at the beginning of the whole thing and at the breaks. We are hoping to get lots of people on the floor having fun. We actually are hoping to have lots of people period! We'll see.

Sorry to hear about your medical problems! Please keep in touch about what is going on with you. Will be thinking of you!!!

BTW, I did NOT walk today. Legs needed a rest.

Sounds like you are getting all sorts of variety in your activity Sue! When is the fundraiser that you are planning for? Is it indoors or out?

I did 4 Really Big Miles this morning to bring my April total to 101 miles. I will probably back off on my Leslie walks some for summer with so many other activities available.

This afternoon I get my tooth pulled so wondering how that is going to go. They are also putting in a bone graft and will stitch that in. Hoping the tooth comes out easily and no infection sets in! Will be so glad to have that behind me.

On May 15th I am set up for my first ablation treatment for my varicose veins. They do one leg at a time so I'm starting with the worst one which is my right leg. Not much for restrictions afterwards but I will have to wear a compression stocking for a month. Not the best time of year for that but I'll deal with it and know it will be worth it in the long run!

Welcome Happygirl511!
Boy,can I relate to being sore. I did accomplish quite a bit before I felt sore. Kind of a good feeling, in a way. I was planning to go easy on myself today, but husband wanted to deal with putting docks in the river. Thankfully that went pretty smoothly. I also spent some time matching line dances with appropriate songs. Tonight I practiced the line dances with my friends for about an hour, dances that I plan to teach at the fundraiser. At least my legs worked!

Hi Debbie! Welcome to our walk team! So good to have you! Here in northern Wisconsin spring has been slooooow in coming! We just finished melting our snow over the past few days so indoor walking has been more or less mandatory for the past 6 months! Looking forward to getting to know you better! emoticon

Today I walked 2 miles with Leslie and then went to Zumba class. Tomorrow I need to walk 5 miles to make my goal of 100 miles for the month.

Hi team, I'm new just now joining you all. I am from Ohio and today it rained all day, and there is more in our week ahead. As for today I spent much of it with family and resting as I overdid it the previous two days in the yard and around the house cleaning as well as walking, (something I am easing myself back into).

I am looking so forward to walking with all of you and getting to know everyone. Thank you for having me.

Today I cleaned more stuff........scrubbed the grout in showers.......a job I hate.
I also did yardwork, raking leaves from around flowers. I was ready to call it quits and felt exhausted. But then I rallied !!!!!! I ended up walking outside for an hour. I think the distance was about 4 miles.

Great job!!!!
Today I did a lot of cleaning (laundry, carpet in car, tiki hut). Not saying that counts as cardio, but did keep busy with that.

Added for 4/27/13
After making the above entry, I decided to squeeze in my walk outside since it was such a beautiful day and I had some time before I had to get ready to go out to dinner.
I walked 45 minutes, estimating that would be about 3 miles.

I am anxious to get my 3 mega mile workout. Should be arriving in about two weeks. I did my 2 mile walk strong video twice today with an hour of Zumba in between. Tracker says I burned over 800 calories. I struggled through a couple of the songs but overall I did fair for not having gone in almost a year!

Yes, it is the Latin "flavor" that is tricky for me.........doesn't see to come naturally.
But you definitely burn calories and exercise anyway, probably more if you are working harder to learn.

Today I did 3 Mega Miles with Leslie.

I did get in my second 2 mile workout last evening and now 2 miles this morning. Still doing the WATP Express Walk Strong workout. Going to Zumba at noon with my sister. I think I would like line dancing better, too, as my body does not naturally do the Latin dances. LOL I feel like such a klutz! But it is a great cardio session even if you don't look too graceful!

Have a great walk with Leslie!

Zumba is fun. I tried that for a while but I ended up deciding I like line dance better and wanted to devote my time and energy to that. I considered yesterday a rest day, but I did do a lot of cleaning which at least kept me out of the chair. Plan to walk with my good friend, Leslie today.

I'm sure it felt good to get that outside walk in!

I actually did not make the drive to MN today. My daughter-in-law's grandpa was hospitalized and is not expected to live long so I postponed my visit.

I did the 2 mile WATP Express walk with the resistance band intervals. I'm planning to do that again tomorrow morning and then in the afternoon I'm going to Zumba with my sister. I may start that once or twice a week for something different.

Amazingly enough, I did rally to go out and walk after supper this evening. I was in a grumpy mood and the walk did help. I went for about 45 minutes (estimate 3 miles).

I started with 4 Really Big Miles and then a couple of hours later I did the WATP Express 2 mile walk. Both use the firm band as well.

Tomorrow I'll be gone all day visiting my son and his family in MN so I'm not sure if I'll get a walk in or not and wanted to do a couple extra miles today. I will try to do 2 miles before I leave in the morning. It all depends on how the morning goes.

We have sunshine today but only in the 40's. The weekend still looks promising for us, though, and then all next week looks to be in the 60's too.

On April 23rd, I took a rest day. It was back to work for the first day back after vacation in the AM, and then over the river to go to Wal-Mart and visit Mom in a nursing home.

The weather is cool and rainy today but is supposed to warm up again soon!

I'm so jealous of that warm weather! Another day in the 30's here! However, they are saying we will see mid 60's for the weekend which will be wonderful if it holds true!

Your line dancing with friends sounds so fun and creative! One of these days I'm going to go back to Zumba and maybe have that as my cardio for a couple of days a week.

Had a bunch of running today to the dentist, hair salon, and general errands. I didn't get my workout done in the morning and nearly talked myself out of it once I got home. But, I'm happy to report I did my 4 miles.

Yesterday was sunny and 75 here. Beautiful day! I line danced with my friends for an hour.
We practiced dances that I plan to teach at a fundraiser. I picked out very easy ones and made up a couple new ones.

Raining here today. Back to my 4 mile Leslie workout. Have to walk every day for the rest of the month to meet my 100 miles. But realistically, it may not happen which is okay too. Looking forward to some sunshine and warmer temps for more outdoor activity. It is soooo slow in coming, though! Maybe we will skip over spring and head right for summer!

Thanks! Everyone seems to be on the mend for the time being.

I got in my 4 Really Big Miles this morning and then ran to town to run errands that I wasn't able to do yesterday. Now, waiting for hubby to get home as we are headed out of town for an overnight. Going to a concert in Madison to celebrate our anniversary. Chances are you won't see me till Monday.

Have a great weekend!

Way to go Sue! I was lucky to get my 4 miles in this morning. Had to go sit with my mother-in-law at the hospital all day after she had a nasty gallbladder attack. I was the only family member available. She eventually got discharged and will have surgery in a week when the inflammation/infection has settled down. Got IV antibiotics and sent home with antibiotics. We had a high of 27 and snow today but luckily the roads didn't get too bad. Last week it was my dad in the hospital with heart related issues. When it rains, it pours!

Sorry to hear that you are sick! Hope you feel better soon!
Yesterday we got back from vacation. I decided to try to get back in the Leslie groove.
This time I am going to make sure that I do the warm-up and cool-down and do not overdo.
I probably will not do Leslie DVD's daily, but instead will vary with dancing or some outside walking. It seems to me that regular walking uses muscles a little differently....works hamstrings and rear muscles more.....not sure. Also will plan to include stretching throughout the day when parts feel tight.

April 17th did all 3 miles on Leslie "3 Mega Miles".

Oh what I would give for a 72 degree day!! We have only seen a few days in the 40's and today we are to get hit with a good amount of snow. How depressing!

New Orleans sounds like so much fun!! I hope the weather cooperates for you. Hopefully, even if it starts out on the cool side it will warm up nicely while you are there! Safe travels!

I have been busy running myself and my mom to appointments and that is going to continue for a while. I did get in 4 miles yesterday and plan on a good workout today. Must get my eating back in line, though, as I've just been back to old bad habits in that department.

It was 72 degrees here today! I had to work in AM and then in the PM go to an appointment for my Mom's financial counselor. Tonight I am packing. Not sure what to pack!
We are going south, but the cold weather is moving into the south. We are leaving Thursday, so hopefully by then the bad weather will be out of there. Headed to New Orleans!!!
No walk today. It will be a bit crazy for the next couple weeks or so.

I had never heard of that video before! I'm sure it had a little different flare being done in her living room! Nice addition of walking up and down the steps a couple times! I took a rest day yesterday and now am trying to get motivated to get moving this morning. Darn cold weather and clouds/rain are not helping my cause!

Today I tried a different approach.......I stretched my own favorite stretches for quite a while. Then I did a Leslie DVD from the library. I knew she looked rather young in the video, but found somewhere that it was filmed in 1992. It was rather interesting. It was set up as if it were her living room and I think it was her husband that she kicked out of the living room so she could exercise. In Segment 2 & 3 her friends come over. I didn't really hear all the chatter because I had the sound turned off. I played the DVD on my laptop while I watched TV. I did Segment 1 & 2. Each were 20 minutes long. The first Segment was 1 mile and the second Segment was 1 1/2 miles. There was quite a variety to the steps and there were some with arm movements. So, I did a total of 40 minutes with a total of 2 1/2 miles.

Thanks Sue! Your March report shows you went pretty strong in March as well! That's great you will be teaching some line dancing at a charity event. Hope you find the songs and dance routines that will work well for that situation. Are your legs feeling better today? I have an appt. on Thursday for a consult for varicose veins. They don't really slow me down too much but they do get achy and they look icky so I'm hoping some of the new treatment options might work for me.

I did the 5 fat burning miles this morning.

Wow, Karmin! That is a whole lot of miles!!!!!
Great job.

Today I am taking another rest day. I did line dance on and off for over an hour, trying new dances. I have to get ready for a charity event coming up where I am teaching a few dances. I need to find some very easy ones with catchy songs. But I am not going to count that since it was not steady. My legs feel kind of achy and tired and I think they need a rest.

I did 14 minutes of 1 mile walk today. That is the most I have managed in over 2 years. Whoo Hoo. I also did 12 minuutes of seated core workout on SPark bringing my total to 26 minutes today. I can't tell you when I managed to do that much fitness last. Thanks for being such a supportive team. I like it when I have somewhere to post my time and get some feedback. You guys are great!!! Hope everybunny has a fine day.
