What do you have going for you today?
The promises of the Scriptures,
The prayers of God’s people (many of which you are not aware),
The intercession of your heavenly High Priest,
The presence of the Lord,
The love of the Father,
The grace of Jesus,
The communion of the Holy Spirit,
And the ministry of Heaven’s angels!

I love that Veronique. Indeed that is what I have had to do this past week. I call Uncle, or in other words, I give up trying to do it all. I asked the Lord what He wanted me to do and I am going to do it. "Lose myself in the service of my fellow beings. "For when ye are in the service of your fellow beings ye are only in the service of your God."

When You Want To Give Up

There will be moments when you've had enough and it's all too much. When you feel that way...Give up.

You heard me right. Stand and raise your hands as high as you can. Then turn your open palms toward heaven and tell God you're done. You're handing it all over to Him. Giving up.

Then ask Him what He wants to give you in return. Take hold of what He offers with both hands and bring it back to your heart.

Very good point Veronique. Isn't it nice to know that prophets of old were not perfect any more than we are? If there is a will there is a way to accomplish anything with the Lord's help. We often forget we don't have to do it all alone.

Stop making excuses!!!

In The Purpose Driven Life, author Rick Warren responds to those who make excuses concerning why they cannot serve the Lord: “Abraham was old, Jacob was insecure, Leah was unattractive, Joseph was abused, Moses stuttered, Gideon was poor, Samson was codependent, Rahab was immoral, David had an affair and all kinds of family problems, Elijah was suicidal, Jeremiah was depressed, Jonah was reluctant, Naomi was a widow, John the Baptist was eccentric to say the least, Peter was impulsive and hot-tempered, Martha worried a lot, the Samaritan woman had several failed marriages, Zacchaeus was unpopular, Thomas had doubts, Paul had poor health, and Timothy was timid.”

I have found another way to fight negativity. It is to stop fighting and make peace with the fact that in this world we will have tribulation. People are who they are. Children will be children! Circumstances will never be perfect; never as much money as we would like to have, the dog will bark, washing machines break and dishes need to be done. But the reason we can be of good cheer is because the Lord is in control and will not allow us to be tempted above our ability to withstand the temptation as long as we listen and obey Him. The Lord WILL have a perfected people. That perfection comes in the form of charity, the pure love of Christ, which includes, believing all things, hoping all things and enduring all things. See 1 Corinthians 13.

I continually refer to that chapter in the Bible to see how I am doing. It is my measuring stick and I can see that with the Lord's infinite, longsuffering and mercy and through His grace I am growing unto the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ. I have a long way to go but praise the Lord, He is so patient with me and He makes up the difference and I am forgiven for my lack of perfection.

This is the purpose of our adversity to make us more like Christ. It is easy to have charity when everything is going our way, but adversity gives us an opportunity to exercise true charity. Ephesians 4:13, "Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ:

Great Hymn Veronique, When I forget myself and think of others, life is much more pleasant.
It is easy to serve when we feel well but it is hard when we don't. It is part of learning how to love like Christ. if we can learn to loving in the face of adversity we have got it right. And the only way we can do it is with the help of the good Lord who through His mercy and grace puts in us part of himself. Because He paid the price for our sins we can go to the throne of God boldly and receive help in time of need, be it endurance or whatever. I have learned not to counsel the Lord as to what I want Him to do for me, but thank Him for what He has already done, is doing and will do in the future, letting go my will and give Him free reign to do as he sees fit. I also ask in the midst of the affliction, what it is he would have me learn, so I can hurry up and learn it. emoticon Probably patience, because that is my most difficult thing to learn. I always ask How long oh Lord? Maybe that's my problem. Rather than say how long oh Lord I should say, I thank thee that I will not have to go through this any longer than is necessary for my own purification process. emoticon

Here is a church hymn that I like because it helps me when I am in a negative mood:

HAVE I DONE ANY GOOD?

1. Have I done any good in the world today?
Have I helped anyone in need?
Have I cheered up the sad and made someone feel glad?
If not, I have failed indeed.
Has anyone's burden been lighter today
Because I was willing to share?
Have the sick and the weary been helped on their way?
When they needed my help was I there?

[Chorus]
Then wake up and do something more
Than dream of your mansion above.
Doing good is a pleasure, a joy beyond measure,
A blessing of duty and love.

2. There are chances for work all around just now,
Opportunities right in our way.
Do not let them pass by, saying, "Sometime I'll try,"
But go and do something today.
'Tis noble of man to work and to give;
Love's labor has merit alone.
Only he who does something helps others to live.
To God each good work will be known.

This is very good. I used to get the little publication years ago and I liked it until they started bad mouthing our religion. I never renewed it. but not all the articles were bad. In fact like this one most were really good.

Would you believe that I was just telling Jerry yesterday that I was getting better because I have a merry heart and also reminded him of the little book he got me for my birthday one year called "A Merry Heart Doeth Good Like Medicine. It was really a good little book.

So I think your article was just confirmation that indeed as I focus on the positive instead of the negative and be happy, I will continue to get better.

This is a good article I received from Discovery House, publisher of "Our Daily Bread",
RBC Ministries | P.O. Box 3566 | Grand Rapids, MI 49501-3566

I was eager to share it with you.

WHY SHOULD WE BE OPTISMISTIC?

Read: John 16:16–33

A merry heart does good, like medicine. –Proverbs 17:22

The Bible isn’t a psychology textbook, but it gives us the wisest counsel for experiencing happiness here and now. Proverbs 17:22, for example, assures us that “a merry heart does good, like medicine, but a broken spirit dries the bones.”

That simple statement was recently corroborated by the extensive research of Dr. Daniel Mark, a heart specialist at Duke University. The New York Times article that reported his findings carried this headline: “Optimism Can Mean Life for Heart Patients and Pessimism Death.” The article begins with these words: “A healthy outlook helps heal the heart.”

But Dr. Nancy Frasure-Smith, a heart specialist who has studied the effect of depression, anxiety, and anger, admitted, “We don’t know how to change negative emotions.” Faith in God, however, can produce that change. People who look beyond their present difficulty and put their trust in God’s goodness cannot help but be joyful. It’s significant that our Savior said on several occasions, “Be of good cheer” (Matthew 9:2, 22; 14:27; Acts 23:11). Knowing that life is filled with many crises, He encourages us with this word of reassurance: “Be of good cheer, I have overcome the world” (John 16:33). VCG

No matter what happens, you can find joy in the Lord.

But if from thence thou shalt seek the Lord thy God, thou shalt find him, if thou seek him with all thy heart and with all thy soul.
