Charlene - how are you feeling? Better I hope! Is it still cold?
My son went to Jerusalem for his work. He was there for just a couple of days. He should be landing soon, and I am VERY happy!

All - I was so happy to turn the page of my calendar this morning. It means spring is just around the corner! This is just wonderful!

I will be carrying all your intentions in my prayers tonight.

Good Evening sweet friends. You would never know by looking outside here in Manti, Utah that it was below freezing and in the single digits yesterday and today. I was hoping though that the sun that has been shining the last two days (praise the good Lord) would melt some of the snow. I guess it has on the drive way and sidewalk but the lawn is still covered with about 6 or 8 inches.

Veronique so glad your son will be home from Jerusalem soon. Tell us what he went there for. Just a visit? I would love to go there some day. Yes the good Lord has provided and I am so thankful for that.

Carol I am praying your house sells and your grocery money situation gets better too. I think maybe the short sale for our house will go through soon. It has been on the market since last June. I guess we are both being exercised in patience. This business of waiting is for the birds isn't it. Thank you all for your prayers in our behalf too.

Karen, I'm getting a little sick of the cold and snow too. In fact I think I am getting sick. The skin on my face hurts and I have cold sores on my lips. I had better just tell myself I am well and forget about this sick stuff. LOL

Sally it would be great to winter somewhere where it was warmer, but alas we are here. But hey it is great you can do that and I'll bet you'll be glad when you get back home to Colorado.

Janet I'm praying for your family and friends. Times like this are so hard so I am praying for you to be strengthened in your distress"

Linda, you are in my prayers to. Blood draws are no fun. My goodness ...8 vials? You'll need a transfusion pretty soon. Just kidding.

Love you all. Hang in there with Jesus.

Carol,
DH and myself live in northeastern Colorado most of the year. We spend time in Florida as that is where our oldest boy lives now with his family. (Praise God he got a job out of college during the Great Recession!) Usually we live with him, but the new baby bumped us out of the house. We are now renting a condo, praying my DH stays well and looking forward to heading back to Colorado in April.

We now have groceries in the house. I wait for the specials and just buy what I need. Shopping at Winn Dixie, I also earn fuel perks which drops the price of gas for my car. I'm so used to having plenty of freezer space and like to buy in bulk and this buying as I need it is so hard for me.

A lot of you are talking about the snow - just curious as to where everyone lives. I think I told you that I am in Northern Ontario Canada by Lake Superior.

I'd like to ask you to keep the sale of my house in your prayers. It's been on the market since last May but in a prime area by the lake so many are not prepared to pay it's worth. After a sluggish couple of months, we had a flurry of activity - hoping that once the snow is gone, we might get a decent offer. With my health and DH's health, we really need to be in town to be closer to medical facilities. I know God has been forcing us be to patient so we will be ready to make the move when/if it happens. I believe in prayer and I have faith that if you help me to pray, it will happen for us. Thank you so much and God bless you.

Charlene - isn't it great to see the power of prayer and experiencing G-d's goodness? I am so happy for you!

Great news on my end: my son called this morning and he is in Jerusalem. He will be returning home tomorrow! The L-rd be praised! I want to thank all of you for your prayers, I am very grateful.

Janet, It's good to hear from you again. I'm sorry to hear about all the sicknesses of friends and neighbors and am praying for each of them. I agree, it's time for spring. Today here is windy and a yucky mix of rain and wet snow, was icy when I was out earlier but now just slushy and messy.

Veronique, I'm soooo glad you got your computer fixed, I would go nuts without mine. :) That was so sweet of your friend to let you use hers.

Sally, Good to get caught up with you as well, and glad you and DH are doing okay.

Carol, I read that book several years ago and enjoyed it, too. A simple prayer but very powerful.

Darlene, Wow, that is a lot of snow for you guys. I would imagine it brought pretty much everything to a standstill. Glad you were home and safe and made out okay during it. Hope you're feeling better and rid of that headache.

Charlene, Praising God with you for His provision of groceries thru your church. What a wonderful blessing and I'm so happy for you and your family to have received that. You do so much for others, maybe not physically to the extent you would like to right now, but your prayers make a huge difference in the lives of many. Glad you were able to share some special time with DGS before he leaves. I know you will miss him.

Linda, Glad you made it thru the doctor visits and all that lab work, and will be praying the visit with the eye doctor goes well. That's great you'll be able to visit with family while there, makes it a little more pleasant to have to make such a trip.

I'm doing okay, just getting sick of this winter weather and the cold and snow. It's been harder on me this winter for some reason both physically and mentally, and been hard to stay on track with healthy eating. I do manage to get on the treadmill most days so that is a small victory at least. Looking forward to spring and being able to walk outdoors a lot more.

I hope you're all doing well today and enjoying your day. Hugs and prayers for all...

Hi ladies - thought I'd jump in here before I got started on my day. Have any on your read the book "Prayer of Javez"? I just finished reading it and enjoyed it very much. Just a short story about a little know man named Javez and his simple prayer. I am going to include this prayer in my dailies.

Janet - don't know if we've met - if we have, please forgive me for being forgetful.

Charlene - you are being nourished by the Lord - He is tending to your needs. How wonderful if that. Praise God!

Linda, Veronique, Darlene, Sally, Sarah, Karen (I hope I haven't forgotten anyone) - have a blessed day and will chat more later.

My goodness so much has been posted in two days that I have missed. So much adversity and yet isn't it wonderful that we have a faith in the good Lord that he is in control and will even use the bad for His purposes. I think that the times we are most stressed and under pressure is when we pray the hardest and find later that we have grown toward the light much faster. Praying for you all and so glad to see some of you back in action here on our team chat thread.

As for me I have had a busy couple of days. Yesterday I attended the Temple one last time for two years, with my grandson who went on his mission today. It was such a sweet experience with such a special grandson who loves the Lord and desires with all his heart to serve Him.

Then today i went to the Bishops Storehouse where my husband and I picked up an order of groceries to last for at least two weeks. I had no intension of asking for help but my sweet visting teachers saw my need after visiting with me and went ahead and alerted the Relief Society President who alerted the Bishop and she came over to tell me she wanted me to get an order of food. I was so surprised and relieved I cried. I estimated the groceries I got would have probably cost me $400. I have to thank those of you who prayed I would get help some way. I feel so relieved ot to have to worry for at least two weeks if we will have enough money for groceries. What a blessing.

I sure love you all and I pray for our team daily.

Janet,
Long time no hear from! Glad your MIA is over! My DH and I have had a quiet winter. We both had a bad cold, but none of his major health issues have raised their darn little heads lately. We sure would like it to be that way for awhile. He does have a medication patch that is irritating his skin. I told him last year that I would give him injections so he would not have to wear that patch and it is looking like I will be doing that.
So sorry that so many in your life are suffering from cancer right now. It must be hard for you.

Linda, Once the Drs are labs are involved our health becomes a part time job! Or does it become a team sport? It all depends upon our attitude that day, doesn't it ?!?

Hi, Janet. Good to hear from you. Praying for all these mentioned.

I am up and trying to get geared for the day. I have homemaking things to tend to and need to leave here around 3 or 3:30 for my allergy shot, dinner with DH and class tonight. Not happy it is on a Wednesday, but it will only be for a week or two. Praying my brain will be able to focus.

Hope you all have a blessed and glory filled day, despite the snow or cold. We ended our blizzard with 16-19 inches. The weather station said 16, but looked like a bit more here at our place. Hard to tell with all the hurricane level winds.

BLESSings,

Linda - thank you for thinking of ALL of us and for your prayers!

Sally - kudos for the snow shoveling!

I am praying for those affected by the bad snow storm.
Only rain here, but a flood warning for tonight.

On my end, I am happy to announce (drum roll, pass the envelope please!): MY COMPUTER IS RUNNING AGAIN! emoticon emoticon
The configuration is different than it was and it will take time to get used to it, but ALLELUIA, it is working. And Carbonite is working very hard at retrieving my files.
I stayed up until 3:00 am to re-install and test all the programs.

We have a little sun today with hope of some melt off this afternoon so we can get out of our neighborhood--all roads from our house are steep, up-hill and iced over. But hoping to get our pups today before it starts snowing again tonight. Wishing you all a Good Morning!

Carol,
Glad that sun is peeking out at you and DH ! Our home in Colorado is ok as the side walks are all shoveled and the huge driveway cleared. The neighbor had to get our snow blower going for the first time this winter season. The whole neighborhood got to enjoy the work that it did.

Linda - how wonderful to read your post - thank you. Alas, the rain has stopped and occasionally I see a strange round yellow ball in the sky - not sure what it is - do you think it could be the sun - lol. It really seems like a long time since I've seen it. Hopefully this is a good sign of good things to come.

This is the day that the Lord has made
Let us rejoice and be glad.
Alleluia!

Carol - The sun will shine again. You certainly have had worse weather than us up there. The weather does make the care of a chronically ill loved one harder to bear.

Charlene - Thank you for your messages on my SparkPage!

Veronique - Glad you are close to being "repaired" !!! Glad you had such a dear friend loan you a laptop for the weekend.

There are always the sad moments. Just had our Matt and his family over for supper. The hustle and bustle of a meal with 2 toddlers underfoot. I am tired and now I am thinking that it really wasn't that much fun because Ben was not here to enjoy it. He would have loved his nieces. It is never going to change. Ben is gone, waiting at heaven's gate for us and his dog. Gotta dry my tears and get this dinner mess cleaned up.

Carol - hang in here!

Darlene - it is so nice to have you back!

Charlene - thank you for your kindness and your sunny messages!

On my end: the technician came and installed the new hard drive. I am still using my friend's laptop while the operating system is getting loaded (hard drive was blank). It will be a long night, but I should have the basics back on tomorrow.

I'm feeling somewhat down - the weather has been terrible and as much as I am trying to keep busy with knitting, cooking, cleaning, bible study - I am bored. It has been raining for the past 3 days with thunder and lightning and hopefully ending tonight. My DH is so bummed and has been a couch potato for days. Tomorrow should be mild with some sun but too windy for the beach so hopefully he can find a sunny spot around here to soak up some rays.

Yesterday I went out for couple of hours and left him watching the Nascar races - I need some 'me' time. We are gonna go out for supper tonight just for something to do.

Guess I shouldn't complain - at home they have gotten so much snow. My SIL went out to our place to clean the driveway and the plow had left a 2 ft. snow bank at the top of the drive. He also had to do his driveway. The Midwest is being knocked around with terrible snow and ice and tornados - I praise God since He is only giving us rain.

Sorry to vent but my patience is being tested. I must remember that this is the day that the Lord has made - let us rejoice and be glad. I feel much better now.

Charlene - thank you for the lovely post on my SP page.

Darlene - good to see you back here.

Veronique - I would go thru withdrawal without my computer. You have an amazing friend.

God bless!

Darlene, glad your home safe, sound and down (in weight). Good job! Missed you around here. I see you have a blog named Home and Pressing forward. We have a hymn I love called "Press Forward Saints" "Press forward Saints, with stedfast faith in Christ. With hope's bright flame a-light in heart and mind. With love of god and love of all man-kind. Press forward, feasting on the word of Christ. Receive his name, rejoicing in his might. Come unto God, find everlasting light. Press on, enduring in the ways of Christ. His love proclaim thru days of mortal strife. thus saith our God: "Ye have eternal life!"

Praying for our team daily that we will overcome the flesh and win the race.

You are each in my prayers as I see all your posts.

We are home and I am tired. Being snowed in while my pups are snowed in at the kennel still is not fun, but we and they are safe and out of the harsh, chilling wind. My weight was down this morning from before leaving for the trip, so that is good. Hoping to get back into normal routines over the next several days. Have a blessed day, all. HUGS.

May we run in such a way that we may win. Think strong. Be strong. Finish strong. (1 Cor. 9:24).

Oh yes Charlene, you are right: computer withdrawal is worse than sugar! emoticon

My friend is wonderful! I am so blessed. She told me I could keep her laptop for as long as I needed it. But the Dell tech is coming tomorrow afternoon and hopefully I should be back on line later in the evening or Tuesday, depending on how long it will take to re-install my programs. Carbonite will restore my files, but not the programs. And getting the files back will take several days. I feel very lucky because I do not have to buy an entirely new machine!

The sun is shining, so I am off for a walk!

Veronique, so glad you have the use of your friends laptop. Give her a hug and kiss for me. I know what it is like having no access to a computer. The withdrawals are almost worse than getting off sugar. LOL

Sally, my dear, I know it hurts you terribly to see what your brother is doing to hurt others. The worse part is that he is hurting himself even more and he cannot see it. In a situation like that all you can do is forgive and pray for him. It is so hard to do because you love your sister-in law too. I'm praying for you and family.

Carol, glad you are getting some rest. And wanted to thank you for that verse. It is so true and needed right now.

Sarah, I know what you mean about short sales taking forever. We have been in the process with our house in Arizona since last July. The paperwork is phenomonal. I guess they just want to see if you are serious. I don't know but it sure is frustrating. I'll pray for your son if you'll pray for me on this short sale business. Glad you are enjoying your granddaughter.

Darlene - I hope you continue haviung a great time. I am so glad thinbgs are going well.

Sally - so sorry to hear of your family problems. Yes, these are the worst! You are in my prayers.

On my end, a friend of mine lent me her laptop for the week end! Bless her heart! Dell called and they are sending a tech to my house to replace the hard drive on Monday afternoon. I have a subscription to Carbonite, so I should be able to retrieve most of my files. I will need to re-install all the programs however. Keeping my fingers crossed...

Hello ladies, My company is now gone home too and we're taking this day to relax - the past 2 days have been super busy with going out to dinner, shopping and fixing dinner here. We had a wonderful time and it's was nice to have them

I have ready the posts and see some of you are in pain emotionally from family issues - those are the worst. I pray that all will work out well for you.

It is raining here again - not seen the sun for a few days and won't see it for a couple more. What happened to sunny Florida?

I found this verse and thought it fit our needs today.

When the trials of this life make you weary
And your troubles seem too much to bear,
There’s a wonderful solace and comfort
In the silent communion of prayer. —Anon.

SARAHTAIT - What is worse about this sad family situation is that it is my brother doing this to my sister-in-law! I am so ashamed. My own blood - torturing this woman and my niece!!! It is not my daughter - we only had two boys. My father and mother had more than their share of emotional problems and now my brother has taken what did not work for both of them, multiplied it to become even more evil and is destroying more lives !!! He was brought up in a Christian home and turned his back on God a long time ago.

Sally..so sorry to hear that your daughter will have to go to court...we have been in the court system for a long while now fighting to get more time with granddaughter.....my son has joint custody but his ex uses his daughter to get her way..often telling him he can't have her n his weekend...and all we can do is file contempt charges which mean nothing really...so she is getting away with torturing my son mentally. BEING IN COURT IS EXPENSIVE and time consuming and heart wrenching I can't imagine your daughter having a hubby like that...he will NOT get what he is seeking.

We are at Monkey Joes (a place where kids can play on the slides and blow up houses to jump, run, scream and have tons of fun. It is rainy here today so we figured it would be best to keep her in. I am so blessed to have this time with her My son is all smiles. We have her till Sunday night. I stay out of town to be with them...it will be so much better when son's house goes through..it is a short sale and is taking forever.

Our company left on Thursday so I am slowly easing back into this blog. My poor SIL has to go to court in March because my brother will not negotiate the divorce. He wants EVERYTHING including custody of his daughter. The only thing he would give up was the van that my SIL drives. (So is she supposed to live in the van?) I pray that the judge is a man of God and sees that my brother is mentally ill and softens the blow of this divorce. SIL is devastated because she is a Sister in Christ and married for life. She is really hurting.

SARAHTAIT - So glad that you are blessed with time with your grand daughter!

Well last weekend we were to get my sons 3 year old daughter per custody papers...but his ex refused saying she did not trust us. This weekend it is different..we were able to get her. Nothing changed..just mom is a nutcase and we suffer. Anyway...I am out of town for the weekend getting to spend precious time with granddaughter.
Thank you Lord for softening her moms heart so that we could have her.

Karen, thank you so much for your encouragement. It made me cry. That is because the spirit testified that what you said is true. I have been so in the habit of berating myself when I fail to live up to my own expectations that I could not apply God's mercy to myself. I can always do it for others, but I just don't know why I haven't been able to do it for me. I just feel I fall so short of what I want to be and do that I really wonder if I derserve so many chances to get it right.

What I just wrote above, "my own expectations", made me stop short and ask myself if my very strict expectations are just that, MY very strict expectations and not God's expectations for me. Perhaps my focus has been too much on what to eat and what not to eat that I have missed the more important focus.

I am just now reminded of Matt 23:23, "Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have omitted the weightier matters of the law, judgment, mercy, and faith: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone."

Mercy me! I have omitted the weightier matter of the law, judgment (righteous judgment that I am doing the best I can do under the circumstances) mercy (it's ok Charlene that you are not perfect and Jesus understands and accepts and loves you unconditionally and does not condemn you but says, go and sin no more by berating yourself so unmercifully) and faith (faith in yourself that you can overcome the flesh and that if you fall, pick yourself up and keep moving ahead because Jesus is here to give you a helping hand.) It is not my "diet" that is so much at fault as the tendency to omit the weightier matters.

So I will just keep doing the best I can and accept that I am imperfect and love myself anyway.

Darlene, So glad it's going well and the dressy event is over. Proud of you for doing so well on your diet. emoticon Enjoy your time with DH, you are fortunate to be able to travel together as you do.

Charlene, Praying for you as you deal with the reality of another move. I understand how hard it is to eat well when faced with that kind of stress. Today is a new day and God is with you and in control. He also, fortunately, understands our shortcomings even better than we do ourselves, not in a critical way as we are prone to do when we fail but with love and mercy. Don't be too hard on yourself! And thanks so much for the message you sent me answering my question. I appreciate the time and effort you put into it. I've read it but need to sit down with it when time allows and do a more thorough study of it.

Also praying for obstinate computers, and other issues posted here.

Sarah, I pray your visit with DS and family went well. Looking forward to hearing more about it.

Lots to do today in the way of errands and housework and getting caught up before the weekend. Tomorrow DH and I hope to visit our dear friend in the nursing home if the weather cooperates, then do some shopping on the way home from there.

Have a great Friday! Love you all and praying for you this morning!

Darlene, how wonderful that you can enjoy events like the one you went to with your husband. I long to do that with my sweetheart, but alas he is not emotionally able to enjoy being around a lot of people. But that is OK because I love Him and I am compensated for my lack because I know in my heart of hearts this life is only a drop in the bucket compared to eternity and for now we just agree to disagree and accept each other's limitations.

And good job sticking with your "diet" plan Darlene. You are so much better than I am. I really fell off the wagon today. I let my emotions get the better of me. Worring about having to move again has really put me over the edge. I just need to back up and remember, God is in control and it will all work out for the best.

Love you all, and you are in my prayers.

Carol, every day you are with the Lord is like a vacation. Keep up the great work. So glad you found some wonderful things about yourself. That surely is a good feeling I know. I ought to try that expecially today as I have allowed myself to give into the stress of knowing I am going to have to move yet another time in a couple of months. I did terrible on my eating goals and feel I let not only myself down but the Lord. Mother always said, "Tomorrow will be a better day". I am praying and believing it will be.

Veronique, never feel I have to be patient with you about your questions. I certainly don't mind answering them. In fact I still have two questions I need to answer that you and Karen asked before. Perhaps I will just e-mail you the answers. I realize my answers get a little long and don't want to cumber our chat thread.

Hope your trip is productive Darlene and you enjoy your time with your DH.

Praying everyday for our team.

Hello ladies, I've been away for a few days - knitting a sweater for new GS and working on my bible study. This last chapter on discovering myself, my emotions, my relationship with God has been very soul searching but I am now ready to move on to the next chapter. I found things I didn't like about my but many things that I did like. The Lord is working with me and thru me and I didn't even know it - I am truly blessed.

The weather has not been the best - DH is waiting for the sun so he can sit on the beach and get a tan - cloudy, rainy and windy for almost a week. I, on the other hand am doing the same things as at home - same things, different place. It seems he is on vacation and I am not - lol. That's okay tho, I'm not a sun person anyway and it would be nice to go walking on the beach.

Have friend coming to visit for couple of days so will be missing again but I'll be thinking about you and praying for you.

Darlene, have a nice trip!

Charlene: thank you for all the explanations! You are so patient with me!

This morning, my hard drive failed and Dell will replace it, but nor before end of next week. I am NOT a happy camper... emoticon
It will take me hours to re-install everything... and there are many files I never backed up! GRRRR

I am at the library. If I am brief (people waiting in line) or totally absent these next few days, this is why.

I am behind here and no time to catch up right now. We leave tomorrow morning for Houston and I have those last minute things still to do. Just wanted to check in with you. I should have time to check in here when DH is in meetings. You are all in my prayers. Have a blessed rest of your week. Will be home sometime on Sunday.

May we run in such a way that we may win. Think strong. Be strong. Finish strong. (1 Cor. 9:24).

Veronique, Spencer will be a full time missionay and will not have a job while on his mission.. He had to earn enough money to pay $400.00 a month for 24 months, plus the cost of the visa. He has been earning and saving money for his mission through out his 19 years. His two years younger brother is doing the same to earn and save for his mission when he turns 19. Spencer will be engaged variously in proselytizing, church service, humanitarian aid, and community service. .

Members of the church in the area a missionary is serving are asked to feed the missionaries to offset the costs of the mission. I have done this many times for the sister missionaries that worked in our home town area a few years ago. I loved the enthusiasm of the young women and the special sweet spirit they brought into my home, so I truly felt compensated for having helped just a little, with the work of the Lord.

As for the language, they are taught the basics in the Missionary training center and then the Holy Spirit takes over. I am acquainted with many returned missionaries who have been given the gift of tongues, or in other words, ability beyond the norm to learn and speak fluently the assigned language.

Yes, they can e-mail and write family on their "P day" (preparation day: when they can do laundry, shop for groceries write letters and etc.) once a week and friends and family members can write as often as they want. On special day's like Mother's day they can call home. They understandably are encouraged to keep their focus on the work at hand, so they do have to follow a strict set of rules. I have seen some blogs that missionaries have written that are so uplifting and spiritual. These young people who serve the Lord grow spiritually by leaps and bounds while on their missions and come home to be great leaders.

WOW! They pay for their own expenses for 2 years? This is quite a commitment...
Will he be taught the language when he is trained? They have a job in the country they are serving, or are they missionary full time? If so, do they work prior to their departure? Are they allowed to stay in touch with their family?

Your grandson sounds like a very special young man!

You know Veronique, I forgot to ask the place in Brazil I have just been so excited. He first goes to the missionary training center there in Brazil for about 12 weeks before he goes out into the field to preach the gospel. Depending on the place a missionary serves they either stay in an apt. and sharing costs with other missionaries or they sometimes have a mission home in the area where they can stay. The young men and women fund their own missions by working to earn their money. Of course family members can help with expenses. The young men stay two years and the young women stay 18 months.

My grandson has wanted to be a missionary since he was old enough to be taught what a missionary was in Primary; the childrens organization. He carried around with him in his wallet for a very long time, a picure of himself when he was about 4 yrs old, in a suit and tie and when he showed anyone the picture he told them he was going to be a missionary. His mother had that picture blown up poster size and framed and put in the corner of the town hall yesterday, where all the family who came to eat the luncheon could see it. I was just too cute. His brother plans to go on a mission next year when he turns 19.

Carol - thank you for sharing. And yes, you have to go through grief. It may take a while (everybody goes through the stages at his/her own pace) but you will overcome. And your great faith will help you. I hope you can sleep better, as fatigue can only add to your grief. Praying for this.

Charlene - how wonderful! Where in Brazil will he go? Does he speak the language? How long will he be gone? Will he live with a family? Yes, I am again full of questions for you, LOL!

Carol I loved what you shared with us. I might add, it is important to forget ourselves and think of others. in so doing we become more like the great I AM and we truly find who we really are.

Veronique, I am doing so well today I just want to shout it out. I attended church in my youngest son's town and listened to my grandson who is going on a mission to Brazil, give his farewell talk. His mother and dad sang one of my favorite songs "I Heard Him Come". I didn't even know my son could sing or that he would ever be willing to get up in front of people and perform. His daughter played the guitar while they sang. I have lived away from them for most of their married life.

Then after church we went to the old town hall for a luncheon with my daughter-in-law's large family as well as my husband, eldest son, daughter and two grandchildren. Now the miracle is that my DH and DS would be willing to go to church and an affair where so many people were in attendance. I was so happy that they forgot themselves and thought of how happy it would make our grandson/nephew to be in attendance. His mission is already blessing our whole family's lives.

Hey ladies - I've been missing in action today. Having not slept well for couple of nights, I decided to take an Ativan last night. Well, I'm not good with drugs and have been zombie-like all day. And, to top it off, I still didn't sleep as well as I should have. I'll retire earlier tonight and hopefully be tired enough to sleep tonight.

Thanks to all of you for understanding what I've been dealing with this past while. I guess when you think about it, it really is a loss. Now that I have that figured out, maybe I can move on.

I read this online today and wanted to share it with you.

Who Am I? I AM!

I watch others. I wonder. I start to compare. I try to sift through the advice, what not to do, the life examples. But God calls me back to my real identity. An identity that doesn't need a fancy title, to be made important, or be concerned what it looks like from the outside as if a grand accomplishment.

I AM tells me I am His. My identity was never my own. My plans are futile apart from Him. Only His plans matter. Only He can accomplish Kingdom work through me. My identity is hidden IN HIM.

I know that He has good plans for me He put forth in advance. He tells me so. {Eph 2:10}
I know that His identity is more important than mine. He tells me to make Him known and not myself. {Col 1:27}
I know that I have died to this life {and continue to do so each day as best I can} but my REAL LIFE is hidden with Christ in God. {Col 3:3}
.

'The happiest of people don't necessarily have the best of everything;
They just make the most of everything they have.

Linda - thinking about you and praying for comfort. I can imagine how difficult your day was... I recently had to go through my late husband's papers, and it was very painful.
Carol - yeah for the tooth! You must be very rellieved. I agree with Charlene re. mourning your previous life. It is very hard and it takes time.
Darlene - I am so happy you were able to paint these shelves! Kudos to you!
Sarah - how are you doing? I have been praying for you.
Charlene - thank you for your wise comments. Some things you say are difficult for me because I am not that familiar with the New Testament, but they are food for my thoughts. I am glad you had a good night's rest and hope it will be the same tonight.

Quiet and prayerful day for me here. So nice to have a long week end.

Good morning! SURPRISE! I am here early. I had a good night's rest. Thank you Darlene, and hope you had the same. Wow what a task to take on; painting. Glad you got it done! And Wow what a blessing to have your sweetie bring home dinner. He is a special man. Sounds like my dear brother who was always doing things like that for his wife.

Been thinking of you all and prayed this morning that we each will endure to the end in righteousness, be obedient to the will of the Lord, not just in word but in deed (from the heart) and win the victory. I know without a shadow of a doubt that in so doing there will be a crown of righteousness awaiting each of us.

Life is so full of adversity but praise the holy name of Jesus that He knows the way to help us reach our full potential, (Eph 4:13) "Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:"

(Heb 4:15-16")For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.

No man can have a saving change of heart without Jesus Christ. And because of Him and the price He paid for our sins, we can come boldly to the throne of grace that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need. (Heb 4:16) He is our advocate with the Father. In His name and his name only can we ever expect any gift of grace to come down to us from the Father of lights. (James 1:17)

Praying for the insurance issues still and the knee, Veronique.

Carol, yes. Grief is such losses is normal and can be deep. Ongoing changes and struggle like you are experience can cause a deeper grief than the loss of a loved one. I am praying for you. Rest in the Lord and let others help where they can.

Charlene, I hope you are feeling well.

Sarah, continuing in prayer with you, sweet lady. I know it all can be overwhelming.

I got the shelves painted. That is all I did today, it wore me out, so I rested between coats and didn't worry with anything else. DH even brought dinner home with him so I did not have to cook.

Hope you all have a blessed night.

May we run in such a way that we may win. Think strong. Be strong. Finish strong. (1 Cor. 9:24).

I am late getting here myself Carol darling. So thankful your tooth is ok. Nothing worse than a tooth ache. And do you know what? I am the one who is blessed to be here on this team with such wonderful and loving women as you.

Carol I have really been into examining my own emotions too and of course journaling and using the scriptures to help me resolve some of my own issues. I have found it a great blessing to feel alone in my own Gethsemane. For surely as you say Carol, it leaves us no alternative but to either turn to a self defeating behaviour for comfort or else turn to the Lord. Our self defeating behaviours only give momentary relief but Jesus can give us permanent relief and as you say faith strengthened to be able to endure.

Oh honey, if you were NOT mourning the loss of your wonderful home by the lake and your lifestyle since your DH had a stroke, I would be very surprised. I know exactly how you feel because I had to give up my home in Arizona, because of my son's and husband's illnesses and move to Utah where we are not in such a lovely home.

I really had to come to terms with my own sad feelings and yes I mourned my losses about leaving behind not only my comfortable home, but our already paid for grave plots, mother and father who are buried there, three daughters and many friends and what I called my security.

It was not until I let my emotions of sadness rule and cried unto the Lord, why, that these words of Christ came to my mind and has really blessed me to be able to let go and find joy in my life again, found in Mark 10:29-30 " And Jesus answered and said, Verily I say unto you, There is no man that hath left house, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my sake, and the gospel’s, But he shall receive an hundredfold now in this time, houses, and brethren, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and lands, with persecutions; and in the world to come eternal life."

I asked myself was I moving for Jesus' sake and the gospels? I had to answer in the affirmative because of Matt 25;37-41 "Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungered, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink? When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee? Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee? And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me."

I knew because my son and husband were ill I needed to give up my home and everything for their sake and move away. I felt it would be best for not only their mental well being, but also their spiritual and emotional well being. And inasmuch as I was doing it for the least of these my brethren I was doing it for Jesus.

I fully expect the Lord to compensate me for what I have "lost", in his time. It is already beginning. We had to sell our two grave plots for half what we bought them for. We now have four grave plots here in Manti, Utah that were given to us by my brother who no longer wanted or needed them because he doesn't live here. I call that being given double for our trouble. My son is slowly but surely getting better, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. I am just waiting on the Lord to fulfill all he has promised me including my health and I am sure it will happen.

Darlene, I am so thankful the Lord is blessing us to sleep better.

Veronique, thank you too for your love and support. When I write, often times the Lord reveals to me at the moment of a thought, new ones that strengthen me. I love to share the Lord's tender mercies given to me, with those whom I know will appreciate it.

And Sarah Tait, I was concerned about you last night so as I prayed on my knees for you beside my bed before I went to sleep. I had a very calm peaceful feeling that God IS in control and He will bless you according to His will. I feel sure good things are coming your way.

God bless you each and every one and may you have blessed rest.
Love, Charlene

Finally made it here - had a busy 'me' day. Spent the afternoon at the outlet mall and was disappointed because my 2 favourite stores were no longer there - Dress Barn and Coldwater Creek. This mall has many high end stores - too pricey for me so guess I'll scratch it from my list.

The tooth seems to be fine - don't know what happened. Just wondering if I had something lodged and when I cleaned my teeth removed it. Anyway, I'm not complaining.

Charlene - I, too love to read your posts, you have such an understanding of life and scripture - we are blessed to have you here.

Darlene - so you slept last night and I didn't. It seems I sleep well every other night so tonight is the night.

I wanted to share something with you. My friend and I are doing a bible study online - she's at home and I'm in Florida. In the last chapter of this book, we had to examine our emotions. I came to the realization that I felt alone and because of that I was drawn to the Lord and felt my faith strengthening. My friend thought that maybe since my DH had his stroke and the change in our lifestyle since then and the selling of our wonderful home by the lake is causing me to mourn what I had. She may be right, do you think so?

I'm calling it a day and will check in tomorrow. God bless you all.

Sarah - I am thinking of you and I will carry you in my prayers tomorrow.

Carol - how is your tooth today?

Charlene - I always love to read what you have to say. Your words are so gentle and comforting! I am glad you slept better. I understand what you say about getting help from your church. You are in a difficult position...

Darlene - I am happy you also had a restful night. I pray you will not get over tired getting your house ready...

Nothing new on my end - still trying to unravel the mess with my son's health insurance, and my knee is misbehaving today. It was tough getting through my tai chi class.

Praying again for each of you as I read through your post, Charlene. So glad you slept well. I have been sleeping well. God is answering. Last night we stayed up too late, so I only got 5.5 - 6 hours, but the sleep was restful and blessed. DH came home all stressed from work and needed extra time to wind down. Thus the late night. We got into bed a little after 1:30. Ugh.

Today I am finishing up my spark for the day: will come in to track food and exercise and check into threads as I am led. I will be clearing everything out of the pantry in a bit to paint / re-paint the shelves. Johnny built me some more shelving in there last week, so I need to get it painted and get things in order. We go to Houston the 20th through the 24th for a Collegeate Teacher's conference. A friend is considering house sitting for us. I want things in good order for her, so have a very busy week ahead.

I to am praying for each of our finances, health, teethe, faith walk, and other needs as made aware. Hugs to you all.

May we run in such a way that we may win. Think strong. Be strong. Finish strong. (1 Cor. 9:24).

Adding my prayers for you Sarah!. Oh sweetie, God does love you so much! I know yoiu might question that at times because of all you're going through. But I do know without a shadow of a doubt that He does because I have experienced His infinite love and it is beyond any earthly words and extends to all His children. That is my consolation. And I am positive Sarah, the reason you are able to cope as well as you do is because of God. I thought I had problems. NOT!

Darlene, my prayers and believing for you to have a good nights rest must have rubbed off on me. I had a very good nights rest last night and feel so much better today. My stomach has not hurt me like it did a couple fo days ago.

Carol my dear, hope your tooth is really ok and at the most only needs to be filled. My son got his wisdom tooth pulled today. I figured he would need it pulled because it really hurt when he ate anything hot or cold. His dentist even called tonight to check on him. That is a first for us. It seems like all my teeth hurt. I'm wondering if I need to use a toothpaste for sensitive teeth.

Praying for us all who are in financial straights. Veronique like you, having faith in God does comfort me because I know He will not allow me to go through anything that will not be for my best good in the long run if I will just continue to trust and obey. Adversity does lead to being strengthend us as we work and pray to overcome the debilitating anxiety that initially comes with it. God will comfort us so that we can endure our hardships.

Yes indeed, things are tough. However I feel so blessed because I have a loving family. And also we are the children of a loving G-d. How great is that? Such a comfort.

I am praying for you.

Praying for financial blessings for each of you. This economy is a hard one...things are sky high and each time I go to the grocery store things have gone way up.

I worked as a RN in NICU (neonatal intensive care unit) (sick and preterm babies) for 29 years...now am on disability. It was so hard giving up a job I felt God called me to. I have fibromyalgia, degenerative disc disease..have had s disc fusion at cervical 6=7 which gives me horrible pain....have been diagnosed with RA. My husband died and I had to move..could not handle the house payments plus memories...recently bought another house and am learning how to live alone. I am in a town I hate to be near my parents who are both 86 so I can help when needed. My mom is blind and in a wheelchair. My dad has glaucoma. He cares for my mom but doesn't drive so I have to take them everywhere they need to go.

Anyway..my point I guess is that I am financially way poorer than I have ever been and I can not imagine how those on disability live...

Thanks for believing with me. I slept great last night. Still not caught up on it yet, but feeling better.

You are each in my prayers as I go through your posts. Hugs to you. Happy Valentine's Day!

May we run in such a way that we may win. Think strong. Be strong. Finish strong. (1 Cor. 9:24).

emoticon Happy Valentine's Day! emoticon

Good morning ladies - it is cloudy and very chilly in NW Florida this morning. Haven't seen any sunshine in a few days and my DH is going thru withdrawal - lol. He loves the sun! Today I may need to see a dentist - have a tooth that is sensitive to touch but not hot/cold. I can't bite down - don't know what's going on with that. Right now it's not bothering me.

Charlene - like you I was a mostly stay-at-home Mom. I would work p/t at our steel mill (office) from time to time but mostly it was home bound. AND like you we would be better off financially - good thing my DH has a good pension and we both receive a fair pension from our government. We planned for our retirement but we need to be careful of what we spend. With us, we lived at the cottage in the summer and I wasn't about to trust my kids with a babysitter at the beach. My daughter was a real water baby and wanted to be in it all day. Today, it seems the younger set need to have everything and right now so both parents need to work. Even tho I didn't work much, we had no bills - just didn't buy anything unless we had the money - oh, and no credit cards either.

Hope everyone has a wonderful day - let you know how I make out at the dentist's - if I go!

Veronique, yes we can get help from our church if need be. What they do is allow us to get a food order from the Bishops Store house for food or receive help with utilities and or rent. In our church we are also asked to give of our time when we do receive help; like cleaning the church on Saturday and other service projects that need to be done for church members. Like widows who need their driveways shoveled of snow or families that need help moving and etc. That way we help each other rather than just accept a "handout".

However, my problem is I am the only one in my family who is at all active in my church and the rest of my family are disabled to one degree or another and do not feel so inclined to work. I have my own health issues that prevents me from working too, so I hate to ask for a handout when I cannot work. I am rather behind the 8 ball since I am the only active member in my family. If it comes down to it, I will ask for help only if my husband agrees to it. I know they would help regardless. I guess it is a matter of pride, knowing the way the church operates in situations where people need help.

My DD informed me this evening that tomorrow she is going to file for their income tax return and hopefull get a quick one and then she will help with groceries. Returns can be had within two or three days if the tax people get a cut. I pray that she will be able to do so. They were waiting on her husbands former employer to give them the W2 forms for when he worked a short time this summer for him, but the employer will not return their calls or texts. I don't know, but I think the employers have a certain amount of time to do it in. They will just have to see what the tax people say tomorrow.

Janet, I know what you mean about stay at home mom's being penalized financially. But I am of the opinion that I did what the Lord wanted me to do and that was stay at home and raise my children. We all would have had it better financially I am sure, if I had worked outside my home, but I am trusting the Lord's direction in my life to pay off in the end in better dividends than monitarily. "Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old he will not depart from it."Proverbs22:6 That is a full time job in itself. Although it was difficult for me financially, we made it. However, I certainly don't put anyone down who wasn't able to be a stay at home mom. Everyone has to make their own decisions with the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

Yes Janet, I also believe G-d will provide...
When I was laid off from my full-time job last October I went on COBRA, but the company recently raised the premiums 54%! I can't afford it any more. My son, who is disabled, will be eligible for Medicare next July, so this is not so bad if he does not get accepted with this new company now. Just a few months to wait. As for me, we shall see...

Carol, Charlene, and Darlene - praying you all sleep better tonight!
Carol and Charlene - hoping your weather gets better, tornadoes are so scary!
Karen - enjoy your reading!
Charlene - you will be in my prayers. Stress due to financial concerns is a terrible thing. Can you get help through your church?

Quiet day here, lots of rain... Still waiting to hear if the insurance company will take us as patients. I sent the applications 2 weeks ago.

I feel for anyone who is having fiancial problems.
Hubby has a retirement, I only worked part-time
as at the time I felt I should spend a large portion
of the time at home, raising our children. So, by
doing so, I like a lot of other women, feel we are
being punished for it!
I get Social Security, but, even with hubby's retire-
ment we hardly get by! Sometimes it is hard even
then. But, we are in the 'grey' area. We make to
much to get any help. Except for the "Home
stead Excemption". With our health problems
and now hearing how many people may be losing
their health insurance that they have through
their employer. Hubby retired from a local fact-
ory after 49 yrs.! We each have our own insurance
through that factory. If that happens, then I guess
we'll do w/o, or go on whatever our govt. is of-
fering! Scary thought, isn't it?
I was borned in poverty; and lived through some
well-off years. Now maybe we are headed back
to that!
But, God will provide for all our needs. It may
not be what we prefer; but, He will provide!

"All things work together for the good of those who love the Lord, and are called according to His purpose."

Darlene, how about if I just believe with you that you are not going have your Daddy's problem. I will pray for your daddy too. Not being able to sleep is not a fun thing. I know because I wake up in the middle of the night, like I did last night a lot, and couldn't go back to sleep for almost 3 hrs. Very unsettling. But it appears you have the problem under control just getting up and enjoying the quiet. However that doesn't make for a very energetic day does it. I wonder if it is older age related?

Carol, hope your tornado warnings lift soon. I have only barely missed being in one myself. I was in church at the time and the edge of it just caught our garbage can, but just across the field from us it took the roof off a lumber yard.

Karen, my stomach problems are better today. I think I am allergic to bananas and I decided to try one after a long time and it didn't settle well I guess because I had a terrible pain in the pit of my stomach. It could be an ulcer too I am thinking. At any rate it doesn't hurt so bad today and I am grateful. I sure hate to throw away good bananas but I don't dare risk it again. And thanks for the info on the humanitarian projects web site. I remember we did those several years ago in our Relief Society. Right now we are making things to donate to the needy in our own areas. Much is gathered through donations and given to the church welfare program in Salt Lake City so if a disaster happens anywhere in the world the church donates.

I am really stressed because of our financial problems. Pray we make it till the end of the month and are able to buy groceries. My DS was cut off of food stamps because he is not going out looking for and verifying job applications (4 a week). He cannot work because of severe back problems and he cannot get medical assistance because he has no children to support. So I don't know what we are going to do. We are strapped to the limit right now with our daughter and husband who live with us too and have no jobs. This place is so small there is nothing available. We are just waiting for summer when we are praying something will come available. I know I am not the only one in financial straights these days. So I don't feel like I am the Lone Ranger. I had to somehow come up with $100 so that my DS can get his aching tooth pulled tomorrow or filled which ever can be done. I am praying it can be filled.
