That's fantastic news Arlo!!! emoticon

I think too much emphasis is placed on some number on the scale, and not enough on how we look and feel... I find, when I focus less on the scale, and more on the healthy lifestyle and good food choices, I do much better.

i wish I could weigh in on this topic more often but the scale keeps bumming me out. I did have a non scale victory and met a short term goal of fitting into pants that I purchased last October. I mistakenly thought I was still a size 16 when I purchased them without trying them on...only to get them home and find I could not zip them up. how depressing was that. I couldn't bear the idea of bringing them back and getting a size 18.

On Saturday I wore the smaller of the two! Yippee! This is a huge victory for me as I refuse to wear too small clothing. So even though the scale said I was backsliding Saturday I was walking on sunshine and feeling like a winner.

Hi Marty... I've been stalled out for awhile - That last 10 pounds that I'm wanting to lose, just don't seem to want to leave... Anyway, I just haven't had any progress to report, lately, but it's always great to see how others are doing.

Let's emoticon emoticon

Hello all! Are folks still weighing in?
I just finished my first week. I lost 5 lbs. I am happy with that and glad to see progress. I was hoping it would be a little more. I started this program after a week of vacation followed by a week of horrible eating, so I was way bloated up and 5 lbs above my (high) normal. But, I will stick with it and hope to see more progress. I do feel good!!

Thanks for the words of encouragement, ChubbyNoMore... Yes, looking back, I did get a bit more sodium than usual... I'm enjoying this lifestyle, and if it takes another month, to lose that last 10 pounds, it's no big deal... It's not like when I reach my second goal, that I'm going to throw all this out the window, and start eating like I used to... I'm having too much fun, feeling good and being able to wear anything I want, rather than what's in the closet that I can squeeze into.

Don't be discouraged, Happy. You weigh less, so you burn fewer calories than you did when you weighed more. And it could be a little water weight....maybe you ate a bit more salt this week. I didn't know that a lot of vegetables have naturally-occurring sodium, like celery.

Just keep on pushing forward....if you don't budge, eventually the scale will! emoticon

WTG Happy Hen and IPOD! Doing GREAT!

Weighed in last Thurs so today is a new weigh-in day, lol. Down 2 more pounds for a total of 12 since I started on Dec 18. Hey, that looks like 5 weeks and 2 days! Not bad, I guess. Anything is better than gaining.
The best part is that now my BMI is less than 30, so I'm not obese anymore!!! emoticon

Sunday is my Weigh in day... Seems to work out better for me, to weigh and measure on the weekend, even though I'm "retired"... Looking forward to seeing what the scale has to say.

Well, was out of town on weigh-in day and was going to do my dairy challenge then, too. Weighed on Thurs and have lost total of 10 pounds in 5 weeks and 1 day, lol. That is good for me, considering that Monday, Tues, and Wed. had no shakes and all meals were either on the road or at a buffet. l had a minor stomach episode on Mon night and am wondering if a touch of something I shouldn't have was in something that I chose. Perhaps a bit of egg (which I am definitely sensitive to) fell into something at the salad bar.....
Nevertheless, I am planning the dairy challenge for Wed, Thurs, and Friday of next week.

Sounds like the rest of you who have posted are doing a fine job! I feel for you IPODWALKS...my hubby is not on my eating plan and I didn't realize how much he misses me being able to eat what he eats....one of the grandchildren came to spend the night with us and he really really wanted to take her out to eat (pizza, by the way).

Good luck all!

I was doing a rough approximation of the Virgin diet, based on a public television special that I had watched. I bought the book yesterday, so once I read it, I think I can up my game even more.

I hadn't realized what a challenge it would be to eliminate gluten from my diet. And my DH is Italian and a lover of all things pasta (well, actually a friend to every carb!) and that is making this challenging. So I will probably have to reset the 1st week over and over as he keeps buying stuff for meals that he thinks have no gluten, and then looks really sad that I won't eat it. It will take a period of adjustment for both of us.

Hi there! Finished week 3 and have lost 7 pounds. Truthfully, I had already virtually eliminated dairy, bread, peanuts, and corn and wasn't eating much eggs and almost no dairy anyway (I truly believe that corn, peanuts, and possibly dairy hurt me). I feel like a million bucks and my skin is clearing. Think I had leaky gut and am healing. My energy is through the roof and had to up my treadmill routine to break a sweat emoticon .
Going to start the egg challenge today (because I miss them most)

Good Luck All.

Good idea to start back to cycle 1. I'll join you Happy Hen. I don't think it would do any harm to go back to cycle 1 so soon after I started cycle 3. Considering I failed cycle 3 so miserably through the holidays.

I'm still holding at my goal weight of the mid 130's, but think I'd like to drop another 5 or 10 pounds after the holidays, just to see how I feel... I've got a feeling that where I am now, is my body's "wanta be" sweet spot.

Down one more pound. I've been slipping up a lot though. Temptation is everywhere. It's been really challenging. I'm now down 10 pounds so far. On to cycle 3.

I'm right there with you Cleo!!! *LOL* I knew going in that I was going to allow myself an "authorized indulgence day"... Enjoyed every bite!!! Sure felt good to get right back on track though!!! I will also be allowing myself the same liberties for Christmas, but after the New Year, will be starting Cycle 1 again and then go through Cycle 2... Man, I just LOVE the control this lifestyle gives me!!!

Have a fantastic rest of the weekend!!!

Boy was I a bad girl this Thanksgiving! I ate all the foods I am not supposed to and I really pigged out on pumpkin pie. emoticon Well, the holiday is now over so it is back to square one and shakes for breakfast and lunch. Also, back to the gym this morning. At least now I know how to correct the situation and get back on track.

How did everyone else do over the holiday?

0 pounds lost this week. I was going back and forth this week between zero and half a pound but in the end it was 0. It's the end of the first week of cycle 2.

Wendi, what and how much are you putting into your green smoothies? Sometimes it's little things that sneak up and bite us in the butt, so to speak... Could you be getting too much natural sugars in your fruit choices?

My official weigh in day will be Mondays. Happy to have someone to support me. I weigh every day. So far, I've stuck to the plan and I know i haven't lost 7 pounds in 7 days. I'm doing a green protein smoothie in the morning, eating on the plan the rest of the day. I'm a little discouraged, but we will see what tomorrow holds.

Cindy ~ You did fantastic!!! When I was away that two weeks, I gained 5 pounds!!!

Yeah, I hear ya on wanting to get back down before your doctor's appointment, and YES!!! What is it that makes every doctor's scale weigh heavier than our own scale??? emoticon I always feel like I need to lose a little extra, just so theirs will read what mine does. *LOL*

Boy, talk about an incentive!!! That $300 would certainly do it for me!!! Good luck, and keep us posted!!!

I weighed in on Friday, after traveling for the last three weeks, and was at 135.0. That's one pound up. Much better than I thought it would be. I also walked a ton that last two weeks since I was in Chicago's Loop area. I even broke my personal record for steps and miles! But this weekend, back in my hometown where gluten free and healthy options are hard to come by when dining out, it is creeping up again (137.5). I need to get back on track again. I need to at least be where I was and would prefer to have lost another pound or so by Friday afternoon when I have my doctor's appointment. Afternoon appointments always add weight to the scale and their scale weighs heavier than mine anyway. My numbers need to be under 141 in order to have met my healthy BMI range. If my labs are all good and my BMI is in range, then I will be eligible for $300 through our health program at work so I have several motivators. Keep your fingers crossed for me!

Hi Cleo!!!

There are a couple things that I may suggest... I'm not sure if you do Green Smoothies or not, but they're an excellent way to sneak in a bit of extra fiber into your diet... The base of my green smoothies is 2 packed cups of spinach, which in and of itself, wouldn't be considered a high fiber veggie, but when you consider, I consume then twice a day, it adds up... To that, include flax seeds or chia seeds, and the fiber starts adding up.

Roasted Garbanzo beans (chick peas) are another way I get my fiber... They make a tasty, healthy snack... Great for when you're craving a bit of something salty & crunchy... You can make them either sweet or savory.

Bottom line is this... Fiber is great, and we need to get enough, but don't stress out on it if you're not reaching that magic 50 gram mark.

Be blessed and enjoy the day. Hen

After a few days of no weight loss, I am finally back on track. Lost one pound yesterday so I am back to the gym today to see if I can keep this going.

I am having a problem adding fiber to my diet. JJVirgin wants us to work up to 50 grams of fiber per day. I can get up to 45 by adding blueberries, raspberries, an apple and broccoli but I honestly cannot eat any more food than I already am.

Any suggestions?

I finished my 2nd week of Cycle 1 and I lost 3 pounds this week. That's 5 pounds total so far Yay! I still need to take my measurements but I'm pretty sure I've lost something because I had to tighten my belt to the next notch. So excited this is working.
