My smoothie recipe is 1/2 frozen banana, 1 c. frozen strawberries, 2 tbsp ground flaxseed (for fiber) and 1 c. almond milk (for calcium). Another snack I like is steamed edamame with sea salt. Best wishes!

I find that freezing chunks of banana for about an hour ahead of time makes a much creamier and luscious smoothie. Just freezing and pureeing the banana makes to-die-for "ice cream". I couldn't believe how good it is!

Maybe get a green smoothie that you like, and that way you can get your fruits and vegetables in.

RUDBECKIA - - Try eating your three meals a day but then for a snack have crackers and cheese (low-fat) or one slice of 100% whole wheat bread with 1 TBS of reduced fat peanut butter for a snack or maybe a light yogurt and a fruit for a snack - with these you have your carbs and protein for your nutrition. Be sure you don't eat those snacks in front of the tv or computer but actually sit down at the table and eat them. I have gone as far as to have a "small" bowl of cereal and 1/4 cup of skimmed milk for a snack on those days when I actually want it to feel like I'm eating more. Give it a try.

Thanks for the comments. I have tried the 5 meal a day thing and although it kind of worked it also was very time consuming. I think I need to spend time on Sunday cutting up veges for the week so they are an easy grab and for some reason if I cut up fruit I am more likely to eat it than if I have to bite into something whole. Weird? I think I am also going to try having a cheese stick with the fruit as protein does seem to fill me up and satisfy me.
Keep checking in on me! I'd appreciate the accountability and support. Thanks spark "eat up, slim down challengers!"

I completely understand you. I had to start spacing my meals out. I mean I would eat my sandwich and then 30 minutes later I would eat my salad and then 30 minutes later my fruit. This kept my blood sugar more constant but also helped me control my snacking. It is a bit hard to work it out a first and I am sure will not work for everyone but it has worked well for me. Good luck and keep up the fight.
Hi! I'm joining the challenge and chose the sub-goal of eating 2 planned snacks a day. I have a hard time with snacks because it seems any snack (planned or not) leads to more snacks. I have much more success with 3 square meals a day but can only sustain that for 2 days before I collapse from so much will power! hahahaha. I know fruits and veges are good snacks and I do enjoy them but why don't I reach for them? It is sooooo mental!
Any words of wisdom or encouragement would be great. I have at least 50 pounds to lose and although I feel I am on the right track, this train doesn't seem to be moving very fast.
