Unsweetened applesauce with cinnamon and a little Splenda warmed in the microwave. Tastes just like apple pie with a lot less calories and no crust!

baked sweet potato for white... you don't even need butter this way.
lettuce leaf wraps & egg salad ,instead of bread .
Kale instead of spinach, Kale lasts in the fridge much longer.
shirataki noodles ( made from yams) instead of noodles, saves loads of cals.

i will survive & thrive!!

Beans can replace almost any meat in soup, chili or casserole recipes. If I think the meat would make a distinct flavor difference, I add a beef or chicken bouillon cube without extra water in the recipe. Not vegetarian, but still less calories and better for you. ;)

Ha! Ha! You read my mind! I have been swapping my starchy snacks for a fruit or veg. Next step is to swap a starch for a 2nd veg or fruit at dinner. I have tonights' dinner cooking in the crock pot: kale, cilantro & lime tomatos (Rotel) and white beans (I know - a starch), with pork chops on top. Yummy!
