I have been MIA but still doing well:) My schedule picked up quite a bit and I have actually missed entering my info-today is a new day! Weighed in and lost and measured and lost 4 inches and worked out this morning! Amazing how clear the mind is when a little exercise is completed!

How about instead of calories, let us know just how much produce you had and how much activity you got?
The thing that's helpful about tracking calories, is that it helps to ensure that you're getting enough-not too little, which is a thing, and not too much! The weighing thing is the thing that drives ME bonkers, personally. However, we're each different.

Hello everyone! I just joined SP yesterday and this is my first challenge.

I'm not counting calories and I don't think I should do it. I have the impression I would go crazy and develop a disorder or something, so my strategy was just eat no more junk (specially chocolate, my worse enemy) and eat more fruits and veggies. That's why I liked this challenge. Do you guys think that can work? I really don't want to count my calories!

So, I have one question. What is considered to be a serving of veggies? For example, last night I cooked zucchinis and mushrooms to eat with some rice for dinner. So I can consider I had two servigns of veggies, one of zucchini and one of mushrooms? Or is it just one?

Thanks for all the help and support. LET'S DO THIS!

Where has everyone gone? Are we done being accountable? I thought we were doing well! COME BAAACK!
Yesterday:
Calories: 1585-WELL within range! WOOO
Produce: 6-mostly fruit, though
Cardio: 30 minutes on bike
Strength: YES!!! I did arms and legs on the TG.
Water: 3 liters

The 8th:
Calories: 1751 (WOO!)
Produce: 7-but only two veggies. I usually aim for more veggies.

Hi everyone, I just joined this group, and will start tracking in earnest and starting with this group on my new healthy lifestyle journey tomorrow.

I saw a photo on a member's page (thanks, MADZOE!) of a pan of roasted vegetables that looked absolutely delicious! It's a small thing, but that photo really inspired me! I guess it was just a "real" example of what eating healthy foods could look like.

Calorie intake today: 1361; 8 servings of veggies (even my snack was worth a couple of veggie servings -- edamame hummus with lentil chips); 45 minutes of swimming + a brisk 20 minute dog walk; and 8 cups of water. I deserve a chocolate truffle.

Calories: My tracker says 1721 but it was actually closer to 1900-2000, because the tracker for Burger King hashbrowns is way off.

2. How many servings of veggies did you have? How many fruits? How many edible plants, total?
I had 2 servings of veggies, no fruits.

3. Did you do any cardio? What and for how long?
I walked and I did about 15 minutes of heavy cleaning

4. Did you drink as much water as you should have? How many cups/liters?
I had 1.5 liters

Oops, almost posted today's numbers, forgot this is for the day before:
Calories = 1050- too low, but it didn't seem to bother me- weird.
veggies = 7, no fruit again, I need to change that
minutes of cardio = 0, my day off
water = 8 glasses- yay! BIG accomplishment for me!

Hi Everyone! I joined the challenge last evening and I did get my 5 servings of veggies and fruits in today. This has been hard for me in the past so I am really planning as to when I shall work them in. A fruit or veggie with each meal is a good idea, as they suggest so we can all do this if we really focus on one goal at a time. Hope everyone has a great week-end! emoticon June

--1302 - within range

--hard to know for sure, yesterday was "a bit of this and a bite of that" and all kinds of random things mixed into a stir fry, and also, do you count canned white kidney beans as a "veg"? If so then I'm a pretty solid 4 servings.

3. Did you do cardio yesterday? If so, how many minutes?
--ha ha ha. no. not "there" yet with the exercise.

4. Did you drink as much water as you should?
--mostly in the form of tea, but yes :)

Goal 1 - break 200 (46 pounds lost)**DONE**

GonnaGetComfortable (Don't feel comfortable calling you "TooBig"...Should I call you geoduck? Umm...or a real name. Whatevs.) Have you tried mixing fruit with veggies in the blender into a smoothie? Bananas cover a multitude of ick. Try banana with kale or spinach, an orange, some parsley or cilantro, spring greens or leafy lettuce, and I promise, all you'll taste is the banana and the orange. I love my Nutribullet for that reason. I DO love my veggies, but I don't always "feel" like eating them.

I was about double my minimum calories, so I was over.

I DID have veggies. Eight and a half servings. Does wine count as a fruit? I had two 4oz glasses.

I did 30 minutes on the bike.

I had 2.75 liters of water..

Today is DEFINITELY a new day. I just finished drinking my breakfast.

I was within my calorie range, but at the upper end;
I ate 6 servings of veggies
walked the dog, but it didn't really qualify as cardio; and
I was way under my water (only 4 C)

I have to admit...
I am discouraged, disappointed and ready to quit. I'm so sick of gaining and losing the same 5 lbs. I know it is my fault. I went a few days without tracking. I have made so many changes over time I thought maybe I would still be okay. I have been making better choices, exercising more and gave up soda I have stayed within range more than without. I thought changing to a healthy lifestyle would make a difference but any stray and I gain that 5 lbs back. I have been tracking for 2 months and loging in and reading articles. I skipped 3 days and I'm back to the beginning. 2 months ruined in a week. I need to vent... So thank you for letting me vent! Now I will give myself the kick I need and get going. Excuses be gone! I have to fight! I can not give up! I have to beat this....

Okay I feel a little better now.... Phew

BAD BAD BAD yesterday and the past several days...Which is why I joined this challenge. I had a binge that went on for 3 hours and I took 2 trips to the vending machine and went to the cafeteria at work instead of eating what I packed.

1. How many calories did you rack up yesterday? Was it over, under, or within range?
I lost count after the 1st snack cake. I think I easily could have had double my calorie limit.

2. How many servings of vegetables did you manage to eat yesterday? If you count the lettuce on the cheeseburger... 1

3. Did you do cardio yesterday? If so, how many minutes?
Yes ran 4 miles in 42 minutes (this is where I usually shine).

4. Did you drink as much water as you should?
Yes...12 cups (3 on the way to work, 4 at work and 5 at home at night)

over the weekend ... not great but not really bad (except for th GS thin mints last night)
1. How many calories did you rack up yesterday? sat - over 156 Sunday - within range
2. How many servings of vegetables did you manage to eat yesterday? 5 each day
3. Did you do cardio yesterday? still not getting good exercise if not at fitness center. Sat -spent almost 2 hours walking and grocery shopping
4. Did you drink as much water as you should? good on water both days


for people with celiac disease the stores have become much more considerate of marking foods ... Wegman's brand usually notes on their products if they are low sodium, low fat, vegan, gluten free etc.

Okay, so no Gluten....In the freezer section, you should be able to find some decent tasting Gluten-free bagels.
If you have a Wegman's near you, or a whole foods store, by all means, SHOP THERE. The staff should be really helpful.
The more whole foods you have, the better you'll be.

I have Crohn's Disease, so it is a bit hard for me to eat anything even healthy, but it is better than eating a lot of unhealthy food.... Thank you for the advice I shall go shopping.

KEEP some baby carrots with you for during the day, some low fat cheese sticks, some raw or roasted with no salt nuts or hulled sunflower seeds, some organic trail mix... Naked Juice is really good-including their smoothies. If you look in the organics section of your grocer, you can grab some easily microwaved foods, like spring rolls, pot stickers, or some better than other frozen meals frozen meals...You can find something. :)

I was not so healthy yesterday, and I didn't eat bad food, I think that the only thing that I had was two bananas through out the day. I think it was because I was very busy, but at the end of the day I was not feeling well..

We went out to lunch at the museum cafe before we enjoyed the museum. I chose the Greek salad, but didn't eat the olives or the pepperoncini(WHICH I LOVE-but sodium...). I had a few of my daughter's fries, otherwise, I'd be at just over 1500.

3. walking around the museum and used the stairs more than the elevator, plus used the total gym.

I ended up going over 800 calories yesterday, but it was really late last night, so I recorded it as my dinner. They weren't BAD calories. I mean, it was healthy stuff, but still. I'm juicing today so I'll make all my calories today from vegetables and fruits. Right now, I'm drinking my breakfast-kale, lime, orange, banana, apple, and ginger root, as well as coffee with Silk coffee creamer and agave syrup.

I had all plant based food yesterday.

I did NOT do cardio, but I did about 20 minutes of strengthening on the total gym and was huffing and puffing and thirsty by the end of it.

I drank two liters of water.

Glitter ... one thing I found that helps with my edema is putting about a 1/4 Cup of cranberry juice (light or unsweetened) into my water bottle with my water (about 2 Cups). My kidney's just seem to function better. It also makes tap water taste a little better.

Yesterday:

Oh, I love this. When I have to write it down, I work harder. Yesterday, I consumed 1312 calories; had 8 servings of vegetables (most from Chef Meg's Sushi Roll Salad); 136 min of cardio -- swimming, interval jogging, & a Zumba class; and I drank 8 C of H2O. I am feeling healthy.

3. Did you do cardio yesterday? If so, how many minutes? sort of ... spent 45 minutes in basement cleaning some old chairs, doing laundry and other heavy cleaning.
4. Did you drink as much water as you should? 10

It doesn't really matter how much water I dring any more ... I go to the bathroom about the same every day. In the beginning it was worse ... someone told me to wait it out and after a few weeks it should level off ... it did. The only time it is an issue is when I am out and drinking 3 large glasses of water (at least 2 cups each) in a short amount of time ... then I go often.

Unfortunately, I am retaining close to 12 lbs of water right now (290.5 last night!!! Swollen legs, ankles, and hands). Because of hbp, as well as what I assume to be a side effect of abusing my father's very strong prescription diuretics a few years ago, I get pitting edema. I usually go potty the most in the evening-when I'm trying to sleep. I try keeping my feet up most of the day when I'm not up and about or working out, but it doesn't do much. Still, the regular natural diuretics, like lemons and limes, have not worked for me for years now.
One of my maternal great-aunts also had severe issues with edema.

My caloric intake: 1222; 6 veg servings; 43 minutes of fitness, 28 of which was vigorous (rowing machine)... and 8 C of H2O

Feelin' great. The scale is moving in the right direction, slowly.

Vacations over.......
Ummm I didn't do terrible on the road trip. Tried to make good choices, walked and walked. Kinda drank water ( had some liquid fruit in a fluted glass too ) did not gain any weight.. So that is my accountability for the weekend.

Yesterday,
Stayed within,
Not enough veggies
No cardio but skated 8 hours at work
Water yes!

I'm almost back to my starting weight emoticon

1. How many calories did you rack up yesterday? Was it over, under, or within range?
Within. 1650
2. How many servings of vegetables did you manage to eat yesterday? 6
3. Did you do cardio yesterday? If so, how many minutes? none today is my fitness day ... with all the snow it might just be shoveling the driveway and walks ... should take about 45 - 60 minutes!!
4. Did you drink as much water as you should? 8 sometimes I don't think that's enough.

mine was an 8" with 383 calories, 40 carb, 14 fat, 15 protein.
gordita style fajita - 1 wrap
sliced onion
artichoke 3 marinated
yellow and red peppers - 1/4 C
kale - 1/8 C
pizza cheese - 1/3 C
tomato puree seasoned with garlic powder, oregano and basil
olive oil - 1/2 teaspoon

Welcome back! If you're not allergic, one way to make sure you're calories are where they should be is to eat nuts. They have the GOOD fats to help reduce your bad cholesterol.

Yesterday - Stayed under calories, need to learn to eat a little more but was within the protein and the other nutrients.

1. about 1028 calories
2. ate 3 fruits and 1 veggie
3. cardio for 30 minutes
4. drank 8 glasses of water

That was day 1 being back on a program....let's see what this day brings!
