Hi there! It's going slowly for me, but it is at least progress, so I'm very happy about that. Am focusing on non-scale-progress as I tend to focus on the wrong things otherwise. Have gone through and pared-down the number of team I was in, it seemed to have me too scattered on here.

How have you been?

6 month anniversary coming up - how's everybody doing?

I was hoping for 50 pounds gone but I think it was a little too optimistic, but I'm not doing too badly overall.

I totally agree, I really like sharing the progress with people that started around the same time as me. We're not inactive, if anything perhaps we are too active elsewhere? personally, I'm actively distracted :) always great to see you hun, have a wonderful week. Hey that goes for the rest of you "class"mates too!

OOHHHH

It came up that this page is inactive... NO! This is where I started, I liked checking in and seeing the "positivity" of people who started when I started. We are all learning and growing wiser everyday, ok maybe not everyday but... So I am just planning on checking in and typing no matter what. We are not inactive we are... hm... antonym for inactive: ______________________ Bustling, progressive, functioning, flowing, working....

Look at us, we have been working at this for four months. I have lost weight, not like I wanted, you know 2 pds a week, it has been more like an 1/8th of a pound. It is ok though, I feel pretty good about my progress, being active is normal now, really need to focus on good nutrition. I am hoping my husband and I can do this together!!!!

Hi everybody!

Been on vacation for 10 days with my grandma, auntie and cousins! Had a ball, was very hot for this mild washingtonian girl, but got all dried out. Glad to be able to say hi again. Used program on phone but just used the exercise tracker, I suck at texting. Love to all. Have a great Week!

Hi, everyone! Stopping by to check in.

BOB5148 is rocking the weight loss! I saw a post on one of the SparkCafe game threads - he's lost 40 pounds according to his tracker. I think I managed to huddle a few days ago before he did - I must've been up til after midnight and got an early start.

I've slacked off this week - so hot and humid here - hardly any cardio and no ST at all unless you count housework and yard maintenance. I know I have to get back on track. Finishing up one 5% challenge and looking forward to starting another.

Have a great weekend!!

Hey there all, just checking in to see how everyone is doing. After four days of travel to attend a wedding (1 1/2 days of visiting family) it's good to be home.

The weather has decided to finally stop randomly dropping to freezing temps at night, so the plants are actually IN the ground! Moving the pots in and out of the house every night is great excercise, but history has shown that I am not the best at remembering to bring them in every night, 1st year I've not screwed it up, so BIG WIN!

Am on day four of the Spark Solution Challenge, and am enjoying it. Although there just hasn't seemed to be enough time in the past couple of days, all taken up by reading the book, exercising, preparing the meals and getting enough sleep. Add work into the mix, and the day is gone. Am positive it will get easier, and I will become more efficient with my time, but for now - I would like a nap please. (no, not really, have LOTS of energy).

So what's new class of 3/10 - 3/16/13? Has anyone else noticed how wonderfully consistent BOB5148 is at huddling in our team? One day, I will get on there before them (him?) but it hasn't happened yet.

Continue enjoying your week, I hope you all are doing well.

End ramblings - Kat

Hi all,

Bebolder - Thanks for sending me that comment to check how things are. I've been busy with work and of course being tired all the time that the only thing I've done on spark is log my calories. I downloaded a sample of that book, but haven't read it yet. I am currently reading Anthony Robbins..Awake the giant within" I both like and don't like the book. I like it because it's made really think about my weightless journey and other aspects of my life. I don't like it because it's an older book and I think he should have written an updated version.

Sorry that you seem to have some struggles In your journey. The only thing I can say is that you need to push through it, Don't let those 3lbs become bigger than they are.

I've been working on my current writing project and I must say that normally I'm extremely critical of myself that by now I scrap what I've written because I don't think it's good enough. I feel like this project could be my first book that I get out there. I am happy about the progress I've made.

Well it's almost 4 am and I had a hard night of sleep. I'm over my mothers and forgot my new sleepy time tea and so I have nothing to help me sleep.

I hope everyone else had been doing good. I've noticed there's really no activity in the team. I'm trying to find a team that I could be a part of that is active, so if anyone has any suggestions please send it my way.

Hello All!

I miss you all, been stupid busy, actually slept in my classroom one night. I have also gained weight for the first time in a year. 3 pounds which I swear I can see on my already big stomach. I wish more than anything that it was water weight, but I think that it is more top ramien, spoonfuls of peanut butter and ........ I got to get it together and pack a lunch or at list fill my fridge with vegi's and fruit.

Jacobharley I read a great book not too long ago called "Why we write" which was vignettes on 20 different writers and how they actually do the writing, I liked it, you might want to check out.

I haven't been logging my food but I'm back on it today. Haven't exercised either, but today I rode my bike to school and I did Zumba. I refuse to let this 3 pound gain become more!

Love and support you all, I miss you when I don't go online.

Well I tried the tea and though I got distracted while reading and took it later than usual I managed to get a good nights sleep of 5 hours without waking up during the night. I of course wasn't awaken by my cat Jacob, who has a habit of climbing on top of mean and biting me if I don't get up.

We are having a bbq on sunday and having some people over. Yes it will be challenging especially since desserts are my weakness. I'm not going to obsess over what I should and shouldn't eat. I'm going to eat foods in moderation and not over indulge. I normally have Mondays off, but also took of Tuesday. I'm not sure what I'll be doing on Monday, I think maybe I'll do some reading or writing. Tuesday we're taking a drive to Newport RE. and walking around and then going out to eat at one of our favorite restaurants, The Red Parrot.

I've never thought to look at the spark recipes, maybe I should start looking. I seem to eat the same foods over and over again and could use some new meal ideas.

Hi there,

It sounds like you have a great plan for controlling your consumption. I really like the idea of hiding your flavored sparkling water in the crisper! I think one of my biggest challenges has been controlling what I drink when I leave the house (soda's, energy drinks, and all that bad stuff). Good luck and have fun this weekend! I myself will be remodeling my bathroom.

Hey there all! Everyone looking forward to the long weekend? Anyone dreading it? Some of those BBQs can be quite challenging. I'm going to look up side-dishes on SparkRecipes- there are some amazing things there. Am also looking forward to playing whiffle-ball (look out kids!)

I'm fairly certain I read this tip on SP somewhere, but cannot recall for sure: At social gatherings, never have an empty glass, and if you drink alcohol, fill your glass in-between with water. This slows my alcohol consumption AND keeps people from re-filling or "topping off" my glass. I also usually splurge and take flavored sparkling mineral water to the gatherings with me, then immediately hide them in the hosts' fridge crisper drawer. No one ever seems to look there!

Hope everyone has a safe and fun weekend.

Hey All,

I haven't tried the tea yet. I had planned on it, but since i've been consistent with exercise I've slept pretty good. Not a full 8 hours, but a good 4 to 5 hours, which is a lot better than zero to 2 hours.

Yes I've wanted to become an author since I was like 12. I've only shared my work with my best friends and I've always thought it was impossible to get a publisher to even want to look at my writing. Now that people can self publish to Kindle and order e-readers I have a better shot at it. I read an article about a young woman named Amanda Hawkings who was rejected by several publishers. She decided to self publish to Kindle and is now a self made millionaire. Ok I know that's a big dream to reach and I'm not sure if people will like my writing or will even want to spend money on it. I've read tons of books that have been self published and some have been good and some have been crappy. I'm going to just stop saying i"m going to do it and just do it. Maybe I will start blogging.

Well hope everyone has been doing good and accomplishing some goals small or big.

I managed to not given into a craving I had for carrot cake. They have these carrot cake slices where I go food shopping and i've been obsessed with them. I hadn't had any in 3 weeks so yesterday I wanted the slice really bad. I opted for a cake pop instead to satisfy my craving. It wasn't carrot cake, but it was yummy and made me happy that I didn't have a whole slice of cake. I wish I could just cut sweets from my life for ever, but I'm sorry I love sweets.

Oh I like Steven King. I bough an audo book of his where he talks about his writing.

BEBOLDER I'm not familiar with the band. It may inform how many calories being burned but it won't teach healthier style of eating. I'd stick to SP nutrition and not take any short cuts. It sounds appealing but for long term I wouldn't want to wear band forever. (And no comment as I'm ignoring your poops and/or pees. LMAO! Haha!). Don't worry about getting on the scale as last weeks of school will cause stress which causes inflammation which causes weight gain. So just breathe, relax, and just focus on school.
emoticon emoticon

JACOBHARLEY Hope the tea worked out for you and you're able to sleep on time. Didn't know you're a writer. I thought you just love to write a lot. So happy for you. You know you should write more blogs. That would be very inspiring for us. Add lots of friends for support. Adding friends you don't need anyone's permission so add as many as you want and have fun while losing weight. Good luck.

There you are BEBOLDER! I missed you. Totally forgot about your teaching schedule. Thank you for the reminder. I guess you're off the hook until school's out about 3wks. Lol. Some people including kids expect everything to be perfect and not realize that everything is learned and achieved from baby steps. Good luck with your students. See you after 3wks.

I like to write as well, I have some experiences that might inspire but really not sure how you start, more of a journaler. Good luck JacobHarley and don't judge just write. I showed my students a Steven King book pre-edit version, it sucked, all the kids were shocked at how bad it was, but then it showed his edits on the page and they were brilliant. Write On!!!!

I went AWOL, sorry about that, today I am in my classroom waiting for some kids to come in to do some extra work so Yahhhhhhh I get to say hi. I miss you all. I won't be such a stranger. June 6th is graduation so maybe I will do quick touch ins, cause I really do want to keep the momentum up and I like you all! Haven't been tracking either, which is a mistake, I'm like you all I really need to keep track of what I am doing or I lie to myself. Are you all ready for summer? I want to play in the sun, work in my garden and splash in the water.

I play peek a boo with the scale, if goes down I log it, if goes up I run to the bathroom and try to poop and pee, so gross, I know. If it stays the same I am grateful it isn't going up. When I keep track of what is going in and out calorie wise then I definately try to keep it tipped in favor of calorie deficit.

My boss has one those arm bands that tells her the calories she burns each day, it even tells her how much sleep she gets, and how many steps she's taken. Then she puts in her calories eaten on the computer and she knows exactly how she is doing. Doesn't that sound so logical, like a car, gas in and you get to move forward until you run out. When she was telling me it just sounded so simple. Simple math maybe, not simple action.

Hey there everyone! Not much new here, just lots and lots of walking. So of course I think my scale must be broken when it says I've gained half a pound. grrrr. Will get out the measuring tape tomorrow and look for those "non-scale wins."

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend, be good to yourselves! -Kat

Hi all,

I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend, especially if you're a mom..

I bought some tea with the valarian and I will be trying it tonight.

I had a pretty good weekend. I attended a communion party on sunday and I think I did pretty good with not over doing it with eating too much food or too much dessert. I usually go crazy over dessert and normally have to try a piece of all the desserts.

I also got some writing done. I'm an aspiring writer and I keep scrapping my work thinking it's not good enough. I've also been in some kind of rut where I just can't seem to write. However yesterday I started writing a novel idea I had years ago. My plan is to write and then self publish to the kindle.

Well hope everyone has a pleasant day...

I agree with LovelyP - I occasionally use a supplement (capsule) of valarian root, and it is wonderful. Start small doses what ever form you use. One other thing that really works well for me is a good warm bath just before bed, and I like the bedroom a bit cool too. I am not sure of the physiology behind it, but it works for me.

Have a wonderful weekend friends, be good to yourselves. Kat

These days almost any grocery store or health store will carry it. Mostly it'll be near or next to herbal teas. It could be any brand but main ingredient will be valerian. If you don't get enough sleep it will cause inflammation and that will also cause gain weight. I've been there and any kind of stress or those sleepless nights will cause me to gain weight. Also sometimes a person can't sleep if they think too much and you may not even notice you're doing it as you're used to it so it's good to read a boring magazine or get a boring book from the library which isn't something that's a good read. Hope I made sense. LOL. This will help confuse your brain and it'll start to get bored and you'll fall asleep faster. Hope this helps.

Thanks LOVELYPAMPA...

Can I get that type of tea at a regular store? I didn't take any sleeping pills last night, but I've been up since 2 am. I really need something that will help me have a goodnights sleep.

I did good so far this week with counting my calories. With exercising I managed to stay in my calorie range most to the time. I ended up weighing myself and I've gained 2 lbs since my last weigh in. That just proves that I really need to be consistent with counting calories.

I'm tired and I should try to go back to bed, but I know I'm not going to fall asleep. It's going to be a long day for me..

Hope everyone else has been doing good....

I love your motivation JACOBHARLEY It does seem like you do well. Yeah my weight goes off too but I sneak in and get on the scale but don't count it. Hopefully TOM doesn't upset you and will go away soon. LOL. Don't take medicine for your sleepless nights. Drink an herbal tea containing Valerian herb and sit about 15 to 20 minutes before sleeping and you'll be knocked out with a really good sleep. I know a lot of people tried it and so have I. My favorite is the Nighty Night brand. Kind of pricey but I don't use it as much. It won't cause any headaches and you wake up refreshed.
I'm glad you accomplish so many things including 5K without any support. It's amazing and once you set your mind to it, you're determined to finish it. It's really great!

Hi,

Thanks Lovely..I'm so used to just doing things on my own that I never to think to ask for help when I need it.

Well I kind of lost my motivation, but last week I did awesome on my exercise and also started counting calories again. I didn't weigh myself this week since TOM is visiting and I knew my weight would be off, but I'm feeling good. I've been really tired the past few days since I've hardly slept. I bought some new sleeping pills to try out, but they don't seem to work and I've been waking up with horrible headaches, so I'm going to stop taking them.

When I lost my first 20 lbs I created a check list that I followed as best as I could something like

logged calories
stayed in calorie range
did cardio for 10+
drank 8 cups of water
worked on my writing
etc...

on that check list I also put major goals I wanted to work on such as

run a 5k
no coffee for a year
etc.

I stopped doing that check list months ago and decided to use it again, since it helped me before. I didn't always complete everything, but to see what I did complete made me feel accomplished. It also made me stick with eating better and exercising helping me lose those 20lbs. I reward myself with something nice when it comes to reaching my goals. For the 5k I bought myself a Kindle fire. For reaching my coffee goal I've decided to buy myself one of those water filler bottles. I have some goals I have yet to reach and some new ones, I just need to decide what kind of reward I want to give myself for reaching them.

oh and I'm paying myself $5 for every lb I lose. I know it's not always about the scale, so I'm also paying myself $20 for every size I lose. I'm then using the money to buy myself some new clothes for my vacation to Disney World this October

Hi HEREKTEKTE It's good to hear from you. I always select most recent postings on my page which takes me to our daily chat here. After you mentioning, I looked at our entire main page and we're the only ones active in our team. Kind of creepy! Haha..just kidding. I really enjoyed chatting with you all.

So in case we don't come back as often I don't want to forget you'all so I'm adding you both as friends. HEREKTEKTE and JACOBHARLEY. BEBOLDER is already on my page.

Hey there ladies (and any gentlemen that may be in our neat group). So we're almost through the second month on SparkPeople. How's it going now that we are mostly over our colds, etc? As of this morning, I am down 11 pounds. Which I find wonderful as I do not forgo beer (but I do track it on my calorie counter).

I really enjoy this team thread, so thank you all for keeping in touch and the updates coming. It is comforting to know that others are finding it difficult to learn healthier behaviors & lose weight. Even better, it's extremely motivating to see us all still working hard at it, not giving up, and fighting for a better life. Great job everyone.

I'm off to wrestle with the roto-tiller, that's gotta be some serious calorie burning.

I'm glad you're back. Next time you feel you're going to lose your motivation, just holler over here and we'll try to find a way to get you motivated again.
It's always easier to give advice than to accept it. Congrats for entering the Boston Marathon. I bet it's very exciting and nervous at the same time too. I'm really happy for you.

My weight was stuck for some time there but finally started moving since last few days. Hubby says it's all water gain. He's funny. But he's right as it may be water gain. Which I'm ok as long as the numbers keep moving and I keep losing weight. I'm hoping it's perm and not temporary phase. We've been eating at home all week long and finally did go out tonight. But also walked couple of miles after dinner. So over all I'm content for now.

Hi BEBOLDER and HEREKTEKTE and everyone else. emoticon

Hi all,

I'm back.... Hope everyone has been well....

I tend to lose my motivation from time to time. I go from doing really good to doing really bad. Especially when it comes to eating. I don't even know how or when I became obsessed with food. I hated eating when I was a child. I went through a period of my life being bulimic. Now I just think about food all the time. I haven't counted my calories for the past couple of weeks, which really does help me. I seem to have better control over what I eat when I count my calories. I tell everyone that counting your calories is crucial to losing weight, especially in the beginning, but I don't take my own advice.

I've set a goal to run the Boston Marathon in 2015. I would try to do the 2014 race, but I know that's unrealistic. I need to run in a prior Marathon to qualify to run in the Boston Marathon.

The last couple of days the weather has just been so nice. I went for a 9 mile walk with a friend on Sunday and then another Walk with another friend yesterday. My body feels kind of sore, but I feel good about the last couple of days. I'll be logging my calories again starting today.

Lovely and bebolder - thanks for the goodies..

Good job everyone on your accomplishments so far.

hi all!

Well one more late night and all my seniors have to turn their math in to the state. We have been having fun though. I rode my bike this weekend for 33.2 miles, it wasn't actually my plan but the bus wasn't running like I thought. Quite frankly, I'm very sore, imagine the obvious place! My back hurts, my calves hurt...... but even so it really was beautiful. I never thought I could do that. Ever! Ever, Ever!

While I haven't gained any weight I didn't lose either but this was a few days ago. I'm not motivated to check again until I've done a good few workouts. So, it's time to re-think and re-adjust my goals and be proactive starting in the morning. And start working out again instead of just walking. Although it was fun with the walking.

How is everyone doing? Hopefully much better than me.

I had a great day too! The sun was gorgeous today, some of my students were sneaking out to sit in the sun and take in some rays.

So glad we can be outside walking soaking up rays rather than rain.

Tomorrow I am staying at school for 24 hours, it's senior push night, we are basically teaching kids how to cram! You know get ready for college, I guess. Actually it is an inspiring night, kids get a lot of school work done and it helps them focus on the last weeks till graduation. Yee-Haw!

I haven't exactly been on a "don't hit the snooze button" streak but it is less than before. My husband sets his alarm way before wake up time. We have been married for 27 years, I don't hear his anymore, at all. It is funny what the mind can do, isn't it? I have found that if I don't go to bed at midnight than I don't hit the snooze at 6am. Maybe the 8 hour sleepy thing is true. Love to you all!

JACOBHARLEY so sorry you're sick too. Hope it's not contagious thru SP. emoticon

Looks more like a stomach flu. That's why you're tired so much. You may not want to believe me but I know what will help you. Pedialyte. (I prefer the orange flavor) We give it to kids but never give it a second thought to use it for ourselves. I know from experience and telling others that your stomach will be happy and you'll feel more energized. Just try it and you'll recover sooner than soon.

And thank you for the kinds words. I've been taking short walks instead of going to gym. I haven't given up but just taking baby steps. Trying slowly to get past the baby steps though is the hard part but I'm trying to get past it.

emoticon for not drinking coffee. Whole year! Wow! Seems impossible but you did it!

It is really sad about Boston and now Texas. What is the world coming to? I'm sorry you're so close as I can imagine it be difficult at this time. Hang in there JACOBHARLEY. Everything will be alright.

Hi All,

between being sick, tired, trying to catch up on some work, I've hadn't really wanted to sit there and log my calories, (not to mention that it was pointless since I couldn't keep anything down for at least two days) nor did i have any motivation to visit sparkpeople. I'm happy Lovely that you're feeling better and hopefully no one else is sick.

Lovely, be proud that you went to the gym regardless of how long you went for. I think sometimes when we try to push ourselves to hard end up giving up to quickly. I start off slow and work my way up.

Yesterday marked my one year goal of no coffee. I feel proud and accomplished that I completed that goal.

Since the tragic events that took place in Boston (I live in MA) I keep thinking over and over that life is too short. That sometimes we take life for granted. I've decided that I need to revamp my goals and start living a life that is filed with determination, goals, accomplishment, and happiness.

So glad you are feeling better Lovely. Oh I just saw an interesting stream title '16 days of rising and shining" I love that. One of my new goals is to not hit the snooze button. I really didn't think I did it that much, I was WRONG. So tomorrow I am rising and shining for sure. Love you all have a great tomorrow.

Started going to the gym as I promised myself last week. Boy, it's harder than I thought it would be. Barely did half hour and was ready to go home yesterday.

Will try again tomorrow and work harder so I can get back on track. It's frustrating but beginning's always hard and then it gets easier.

I'm feeling better and ready to work out starting next week. So I did gain a few lbs. Rather than playing catch up, I reset my goals and have a fresh new start.

Well spring is here and it does give us hope that the sun is coming, we can all dig out of winter and get outside more. I have to tell you that I think my silly little pedometer is making me become a walker. Like today I switched printing documents right next to me and used the class printer, so I would have to get up, every little bit I guess, or just a little psycho, who knows. I do say though that for a very small investment, mine was from McDonalds for free years ago, this thing does motivate me. Feel better all you sickies!

I know what you mean about keeping up with everything, My husband keeps asking, what are you doing? "I'm losing weight", I say as I am pecking away at the computer. I do like my sparkpoints though I have read some fascinating articles, yesterday I found these really motivational sayings. I thought I saved them to somewhere, but I don't know where.

My little ticker hasn't moved in 8 days. Not up, not down! Back to work after a week off and I think I feel more in control.

Sometimes I want to not put a food in my tracker so that I can keep my calories where I want. Isn't that the "stupidest" things, like somehow if I don't write it, it doesn't exist.

And re blogs, no I haven't started yet. Been so busy trying to accomplish goals and tracking and making the weight tracker move slowly. LOL.

Hey all,

Sorry you're not feeling well Lovelypampa.

I wrote one blog and haven't written anything else, but I think it's good to write things down be it for yourself or to share with others. Something I would like to get into.

I'm sick so no working out for me for the past few days. I was getting better, but now I have a terrible cough. I went the whole winter not getting sick and now that spring is here and I'm going to start training for another 5k I get sick.

It's that time of the month so I've decided to skip my weigh in. I also forgot to weigh myself last week. I try to weigh myself on Sundays, but sometimes I forget. For me that's a good thing. Years ago I would be obsessed with the scale and it would determine how I perceived myself. If it didn't budge or it went up I saw myself as Fat, Lazy, worthless etc. If it went down I felt happy and accomplished. I don't let the scale determine my self worth anymore.

Well i'm taking it easy and just relaxing today.

Hope everyone has had a good weekend thus far.

I feel for you lovelypampa, I had a weeks vacation and I had the opposite, the "flucold", I never get sick, I don't have the patience for it, it is so irritating to actually have time off and then ache and sweat, cough and pee, whine and moan, cough and pee....... that is the extent of it..... I go back to work tomorrow. Honestly I miss my kids! Have a great sunday. Oh, I am dressed and went for a rainy walk, feel fresh and clean! It's a beautiful day.

BeBolder, those lyrics are hilarious! After you didn't steer me wrong with the "chunky" zumba advice, I looked up the "thrift shop" zumba and lyrics. very funny. thanks for sharing!

Yeah BEBOLDER for going out and about. emoticon .

Unfortunately it's my turn to wear PJs this weekend as I've come down with the cold flu. I tried to do a few chores around the house but gave up and just did complete rest. I haven't logged any food so hopefully I didn't exceed my limit. I may have exceeded in carbs as I kept wanting to drink lots of orange juice for last couple of days.

Good luck everyone and have fun for rest of the weekend. emoticon

Hey everybody,
Thanks for the words of wisdom. I'm dressed today, had a smoothie and I am jamming to new zumba tunes that I need to learn for my high school zumba class, they have a list of ridiculous songs, Have you heard thrift shop it is a real hoot. Well have a great Saturday. Congrats to all that are making baby steps........ I am proud of me too!

Is anybody blogging, I've been using the journal entry to post five things I'm grateful for in the evening after the day is winding down. I am just getting used to posting here, but it does make me smile when I read what you are all saying, makes it all more personal. Typically I am a stalker on facebook, rarely do I post. Is anyone trying it, what do you like about it? The reason I ask is on youtube this guy john calvo, did a "vlog" of his weight loss journey, it was touching and he loves that he can he see his journey to who he has become.

Glad you're doing great JACOBHARLEY. emoticon

I like your idea about the pj's by enjoying it but at the same time also do your workouts. I have to remember 'bad day' routines as it's a life journey we're taking and not just dieting.

I'm kind of doing ok as I may be coming down with a cold/flu. You know those first symptoms which are the worst for me as I don't have the patience.

Everyone have a great rest of the day and have fun with your workouts. emoticon

Hi All,

Seems I've missed a bit since my last log in. Congrats to those who've had successes
Hope everyone had a good easter.

I was doing great with logging my calories, but got annoyed with the fact that I was unable to log anything while at work. Sure I downloaded the app for my phone, but to sit there and log every thing on a small device just wasn't cutting it for me. The app also doesn't allow me to check in with the teams, read any articles etc. I was trying to log everything when I got home and of course forgetting stuff and then entering it the next day. I stopped for a few days and now I'm back logging everything. I also had our computer tech guy fix my issue at work and now I can log my calories, join in the conversations, read articles etc.

I love pajama days, but my rule for a pajama day. I need to put in a good workout in the morning. Once I"ve done that and i've taken a shower I'll put on some pajamas and have a pajama day. Sometimes I'll workout while watching tv, so I'm not just sitting there. I have a dvr and would fast forward the commercials. Now I use them to get in a workout. Anywhere from marching in place to doing crunches.

The step at a time is how I managed to lose my first 20 lbs. When you try to do everything at once you're more likely to get overwhelmed and give up. Set small goals and build on that. I never set goals to lose certain amount of lbs. Instead I set goals that will help me lose weight either on the scale or in inches. Example: I had a habit of drinking regular tea with milk and sugar. my goal was to switch to green tea with no sugar a couple of times a week.. I now hardly drink regular tea with sugar. Matter of fact last week was the first time in months that I had regular tea with sugar.

I sometimes refer to not eating good or skipping a workout as a "Bad Day" too. I once read some where that there is no such thing as a "bad day" especially when it comes to making a lifestyle change. Once you start telling yourself that you had a "bad day" then you're just putting yourself on a diet and diets don't work. They're meant to be short lived. You're going to have days where you "choose" to eat that piece of cake or you "choose" not to work out. Sometimes you're going to be too tired to cook something healthy. Life is going to get in the way and you're going to choose to do things that will make you feel guilty. The important thing to remember is that this is a lifestyle change and there is no such thing as a "bad day". There are only days where you make choices. If you choose to have that slice of cake then great you made that choice. if you choose to just say no to that slice of cake then great you made that choice. Don't feel guilty about the choices you make when it comes to reaching your weight loss goal. You're going to have days where the choices you make really aren't all that great, but then you're going to have days where you make choices that will benefit you in the long run.

Lovely Pampa! "put something on your favorite chair" that's great! I agree with the step at a time too, too many changes can become overwhelming quickly.

Those are very good ideas HEREKTEKTE emoticon And I love the way you express it in a funny way. emoticon

BEBOLDER take baby steps. Don't change everything around at once. Looks like it's a pattern you've setup (and we've all been there and still do) but only you can change and make it happen. A step at a time. Try this. Since it's only Tues, try to fit in a good nights sleep for the rest of the week. Even if that's difficult, at least plan for it for Friday so you wake up refreshed Saturday morning. As soon as you get up, change your pj's. And if attempted to sit for long hours watching TV, place something on your favorite chair so you can't sit down. Just sit somewhere else. Pretty soon you'll realize you're bored. That would be the perfect time to do chores or go outside and run those errands that you would normally do during weekdays. Just an idea which worked for me and my friend.

You've really got me thinking on this one Bolder! Especially since when I read, "stay in my pajama's and stay..." ahhh that is nice isn't it!? I guess we can allow that once in awhile, but I agree, it feels awful on Mondays when done too often. Well then the first thing is to get in the shower and get ready for the day, sort of like getting ready for work, but BETTER, getting ready for anything for you. Get out of those PJs! Maybe use the PJs as a treat at the end of an active successful Saturday. Those warm snuggly babies are just the treat you can look forward to. But get moving early. It seems that when we do something in the morning, it can set the pace for the whole day.

Here's something about me. I hate to walk just to walk. (or bike, etc.) I have to be going somewhere! If I'm walking on my treadmill, don't tell me! I'm really watching biggest loser from the DVR. Sooo if you are like me, find something you like to do (or want to try) and build on that. Or do an errand walking. Ooh, or go to a museum (my feet are always exhausted after one of those!) Got a camera, go for a walk and take pictures of anything/everything - doesn't matter what of, doesn't matter if you ever look at them again, it might get you to look at the world you know so well in a different way, and then maybe something will pique your interest.

You know what else about me? I use my friends. Yep, those poor ladies, meeting them for a coffee on Sunday morning (within walking distance of my house). How do they put up with me? They know they are the perfect reason for me to get off the sofa and out of the house. Well, now that Spring has sprung, they're going to get it even worse, I'm going to meet them to go window shopping, swimming, people watching, and I'll catch up with them and what's going on in their lives and THEY DON'T EVEN SUSPECT! Muh-ha-ha-ha! (OK, reel it in a bit there Kat!)

ahem...(patting my hair in place)

So what do you like to do? How can you do it more actively? Gardening? Mowing the lawn? (hee-hee) Drawing? Bowling? Tickling little old ladies? (ah-ha, so you are still with me). Here's the best thing - you can do anything! I'm going to try frisbee-golf next, doesn't matter if I'm awful, just matters that I'm trying.

I think I think I am on vacation on the weekend, ok it's not really a vacation, it's a staycation,
Like stay in my pajama's and stay in front of the tv. Or stay in the kitchen nibbling all day. I have to set some Saturday Sunday goals that is for sure! Sometimes I feel like, hey I worked hard all week, I'm just gonna catch up on sleep, RIDICULOUS. I feel guilty monday and I've wasted a weekend. Any good Saturday, Sunday goals? I'm thinking I definitely want to get outside!

Agreed, I think family get togethers can be pretty challenging, and in my mind no gain is NO GAIN! Hopefully these gatherings get easier over time.

Right now, my big challenge is to celebrate my anniversary, at the end of this week, in a health manner, I know we will be doing lots of walking, I've looked up menus online at places we will probably eat and there is plenty there, so it SEEMS that the wine and champagne will be my biggest temptation.

Anything coming up for you all?
