Last night I was visiting friends. One I see almost everyday and the other I might see in like 2 months.

Well the one I don't see so often said How proud she is of me losing the weight and I am looking so good, etc. She has done Atkins in the past and lost weight but she has gained it back over time.
But she cautioned me not to over do it. I told her thank you and my goal is to get down to 145 lbs (I'm 5'7). She thought that was too thin for me at my age (55) - she's 53 & 5'4. She said maybe just lose 20 more (which would put me at 164). So I nodded but I will continue what I am doing safely. I don't mind the weight loss stalling for a couple of months - just gives my body/skin time to catch up!

School starts tomorrow and I can start being more focused on KETO and in about 9 days going to start doing Tracy Anderson's Metamorposis (the OMNICENTRIC program) to help me tone. It's a 90 day (60 minute) program - you rest on the 7th day. 30 minutes of Dance Cardio and 30 minutes of I think stretches/ weight work with 3lb weights and this part changes every 10 days. And you measure every 10 days.

Will not be doing her whole 90 food plan but I try some of it.

I purchased it on Amazon and not her website - was about $50 and her website it's like $100.

After lots of strange looks my friends are noticing the results of my strange eating habits.
Those strange looks have turned into respect for the results I have attained.

At my age strange looks don't bother me anymore. I figure I can do what I want, when I want and that includes how I eat. I kinda get a kick out of the strange looks because I know that we are on the cutting age of nutritional knowledge and it's fun to ahead of the pack for a change.

So true.
We only hurt ourselves if we cave in just because of some strange looks.
Not worth it.
It is my decision and my body!

I do that too but not in Chinese restaurants or Olive Garden.
They would look at me really funny!

I tried doing it that way once, but all the mayo was soaked into the bun, there was nothing left on the actual meat.....

Now there are restaurants that actually have a "no bun" option on their menu. The burger was pretty good too.....

I just order my hamburger they way they come and take it apart myself -- I find that it's too difficult to get people to understand, especially in a fast food restaurant and that way I get the mayo too.

About 10 years ago I used to go out to supper a lot with my best friend who worked until 8 pm but had supper at 5 or 5:30. I got off at 4 but usually still had stuff to do, so stuck around until her break, then we would go to Wendy's.

I would get my burger without a bun, and after I told them how I wanted it, they always put all the condiments on the burger itself, and I ate with knife and fork. I usually had a side or Cesar salad instead of fries.

One day the lady behind the counter asked me about it. I explained that I had to reduce carbs because of diabetes. She was intrigued.

Years later my sis had to go gluten free because of MS, and she ordered a burger with the bun on the side. This is a different Wendy's, different city, and they did give her the bun on the side, but they did not give her any condiments. Sis said it tasted awful.....

I went to a birthday party today with friends.
They are concerned about all the weight I've dropped.
My friends are trying to lose weight as well.
A vest deli buffet was served there.
They were very careful to take just 1 roll or 2 slices of bread to make a sandwich.
They were shocked to see my choices!
Yummy deli meat, fantastic cheeses and a big glop of mayonnaise!
Munched on a few nuts as a treat along with a bite of birthday cake.

Yes, I did cheat with the cake and went over on the protein.
Not as bad as it could have been.

I have no guilt about what I ate.
It was a wonderful celebration!

I love the looks on people's faces when I tell them that I don't eat just lowcarb but high fat. Because most people know nothing about nutrition and believe all the hype about avoiding fat in your diet -- they just don't know what to say. They don't know about it to comment but it goes against everything they have been led to believe. Around our senior's centre I have tried to introduce the fact that there is a high correlation between low fat and brain problems (Alzheimer's, dementia, etc.) but I only get those "strange looks". It reminds me of a time in the late '60's when I was working in a small office at the University of Waterloo. It was about the time that people were beginning to realize that whole grains were better than the denatured and bleached while flour products that we had been raised with. One naive young lady said, "But if white bread wasn't good for us the government wouldn't let them sell it."

What a wonderful opportunity to dispense some good information on healthy nutrition. And they can't even quibble that you're "pushing" your plan, because they asked for it! LOL

I'm entertained by some of the hesitant looks I get, too. Like your burger-without-the-bun... or a nice marbled steak that I put butter on (when you can get any real butter in a restaurant!) ... loads of butter on those healthy veggies! lol I beg for extra portions of creamy sauces - mmmm, Bearnaise! ... And tablemates watch me consuming this in glee and it sometimes just stalls them in their tracks. I can see the wheels grinding. "How can this possibly be a (reducing) diet?!?" ha ha
Of course, you can't eat this way if you're still consuming loads of carbs. And they "can't" give up those carbs!

Nevermind. Go get more butter and heavy cream and some hugely marbled steak. I cooked a duck last week and I was in my very joy. How delectable. I think I'll go get another! Makes turkey taste like aged shoeboxes. hmpf

...the problem with people these days is
they've forgotten we're really just animals ...

I have close friends that are proud of me & my weight loss. They like the new me ~ more confident, more personality, etc. They are also willing to try it.

Others are amazed, lots ask how I did it (some are interested but when I tell them some basics - I lost them and they weren't ready to make changes or the commitment)

Others are envious! When I was heavier - I still didn't look my age, now that I have lost 60 + lbs I have been told I look 35.

For my birthday, My youngest daughter paid for my 2nd tattoo and recoloring my 30 year old tattoo. Best birthday present ever!!!!

I was reading KETO CLARITY while helping out at my local American Legion doing Bingo. A woman buying her cards noticed my book and asked me more about it. And she would get back to me. Obviously she is ready to make changes. It's a very good book - just came out this month!

Eating more fat will help you get into ketosis. I eat 70% to 80% fat.

Sis has to eat gluten free but they still subscribe to low fat..... I don't worry about the fat so much as trying to keep the carbs low to help control my diabetes.

Just wish I could get into ketosis and actually start loosing weight.....

i was out at a restaurant a week ago and ordered a hamburger without the bun, you should have seen the look on my friends faces....like what??? why??? and then conversation started about then wanting to be healthy but don't want to be restricted on foods...lol they felt sorry for me..lol really??? im eating a hamburger with mayo yumm and salad with a cream yummy sauce while my friend eats a salad and a tasteless dressing....lol.

so funny!!! i am enjoying the fat and will eat this before a piece of cake..infact if i feel like something sweet, i can just make something that will taste even better and way more satisfying..without being kicked out of ketosis.

do the people around you get used to you eating like this?...i really don't like the i feel sorry for you looks..lol, explaining to someone that high fat is healthy is a difficult task.

you will appreciate it if you work hard for it!
