I'm hanging in! I love that there are 100 points every day, because I can give myself a "grade." If I get 87 points, I figure I've gotten a B, etc. I don't even mind getting a D or an F, because it just helps me know where I am, and encourages me to get a higher "grade" the next day.

Yeah, I have to say that tracking is the number one thing that, if I don't do it, I don't follow through on my healthy plans, either. Gradually, if I don't track, I start just eating whatever, and moving my body only when I have to. Sometimes I think it's silly to be so motivated by checking something off a list, but hey, whatever works, right?

I made myself a checklist to carry around and remind myself. I spent a lot of days in November off track for lots of reasons: illness, holidays, new family members- my son got engaged and his fiancee and her daughter have moved in, plumbing problems... the list goes on.
The tracking is just what I need to pull it back together. emoticon

You can use this thread for anything you like, including keeping track of the points you accumulate from day to day. I'm finding that doing it all at once is easiest for me, but do whatever works for you -- we all process things differently.

Question- Do we have to list all of our daily points here? Example I had whole grain bread (toast) this morning with bran flakes and lite yogurt for breakfast and so on, then I exercised for 45 minutes and blah blah blah

I think I'm gonna do a daily points post that's separate from tracking, because I know most of my numbers now, but I won't have the final step count, etc., until the morning. So here goes:

December 1st preliminary tracking:

Day One (in progress; I'll finish counting in the morning, once I've gotten in all my steps):

2 points (up to 10 total) for each serving of fruit = 10 (had to eat another meal after I tracked last night, because I forgot my pills -- chose yogurt & berries)
2 points (up to 10 total) for each serving of vegetables = 10
1 point (up to 10 total) for each serving of whole grains = 3
1 point (up to 10 total) for each 10 minutes of exercise = 8 (81 min.)
1 point (up to 10 total) for each 1,000 steps = 9 (9722)
1 point (up to 10 total) for each glass of water = 9
1 point (up to 10 total) for each hour of sleep last night = 8
1 point (up to 10 total) for each 10 SparkPoints you got today = 10
10 bonus points if you blogged today = 10
10 bonus points if you tell us one way you were kind to yourself today = 10

Total points for 12/1: 87

I know that tracking is a pretty big job in this challenge, but unlike other challenges I've been part of on SP, tracking is really the only job you have in order to stay in this challenge, and I like keeping track of points, so this is the way I chose to do it. I did want to acknowledge that some people will be annoyed with all the tracking, and let you know that any day you don't feel like tracking, you don't have to -- you can still be in the running for the average-points prize at the end of the month if you don't track every day.

My main rule in life is not to do things I don't have to if they're not fun, so please, look out for your own fun and wellbeing at all times! emoticon

The tracking thread is only for the points itself, so I created this thread for us to talk about what was easy, hard, etc., or to offer each other encouragement.

Also, I wanted everyone to know that my nutrition tracker is open for you to look at if you want to see what kinds of things I do to get more fruits/veggies into my life. I originally opened my tracker for my own accountability, but it's also been a good way to show people that you really can be healthy on a healthy diet that is not low-calorie or full of deprivation.

I can't begin to tell you how happy I feel that this team is starting up. I've resisted it for almost a year, since the first time someone asked me to do it, and finally, I felt it was the right time. I'm so pleased you've joined me on this part of my journey.
