That stinks, Gretchen. My household was the opposite where my parents always told me I was fine and I didn't believe them. I think most moms have some way of showing / replacing love with food. I'd say that more than often it really can lead to an unhealthy view of food, which is not fun for anyone to cope with.
We're here for you and it is really hard to get rid of those comments we all might have heard from a parent, but even just by you being in the forums I think it shows that you have a great deal of strength.

Balletlotus, my mom was always a huge challenge for me. She had made comments about my weight since I was a child and put me on every diet she knew about when I still lived at at home and after I grew up and moved out she found fault with the way I ate and continually tried to show her love for me with food.

She's gone now but I can still hear her voice from time to time in my head and I have to shake it off.

I agree with you Cocoa!
And I agree with doing check-ins.
I've kept up with my exercize and clean eating routine. Had a visit to my mom's as I had an appointment and she was virtually trying to force feed me! I usually see her once a month and I don't bend easy but it's always infuriating.
Husband still didn't believe how much I have to go, so I stepped on a scale in front of him and then he realized although I'm doing my best I still have a way to go.
Hope everyone's keeping up with everything!

Agreed! I'm sick of people telling me I'm too skinny or I'm going to waste away or trying to talk me into eating junk. I don't try to talk them into eating healthy. Let me make my own choices. I'm a healthy weight and look and feel better than I have in over 20 years! Be happy for me please!

I think that's a great idea. And why is it our friends always tell us we don't need to lose weight when we do or if we are doing well they tell us we have lost enough. I'm sure some of it is jealousy but I would rather have their support and understand why I need to do this.

we should probably agree to check in with each other every day to renew our resolve to stay on track. I know I don't get the support I need from the women I see in my daily life. They tell me I'm too rigid or I've lost enough weight and should relax and go out to lunch with them.

I started back to a new exercise committment and eating plan on January 1st. After the first 10 days brought very meager results I changed my eating plan up and am on track. i am starting to lose again. I am determined to lose the weight this year.

I'm getting back into the groove. I have hit another plateau, so I have had to boost my exercise a bit. Hoping that will help break it.

I joined a 30-day clean eating challenge that started January 2nd. It doesn't all ANY cheats! Could be interesting!

I also started an Insanity/Brazil Butt Lift hybrid. Meant to start on the 2nd too but life and sickness intervened, so I started it on Sunday the 6th!

I think it took me until yesterday to get over the holidays.....I suddenly became aware that I had beginning of the month financial chores to take care of....now that I've done that I can focus on exercise

I met a friend for a long walk on Sunday and I'll be doing the same thing today.

I do my weight training at home and that's on the agenda for today, as well
