I lost two pounds over the last ten days so I am happy with the beginning of the holiday season. I have been working on running longer stretches and am up to 2/3 mile. Doesn't seem like a lot but considering that I couldn't run a block without being completely out of breath two months ago, I am happy with the progress. I am working on getting more protein in my diet and I think that is helping, too.
my workout strategy is just the opposite of most people: around October I work very hard to get in a good exercise routine. By the time January rolls around and the gym is crowded, exercise is an established habit. I'll find a way to work out: running or walking outside, a DVD at home, going for a bike ride on the weekends, etc. until the resolution crowd disappears.

So far the first holiday of the season did not upset my program at all. I lost 2 pounds over that week and have kept up my routine. I am allowing myself one holiday treat per week and that is leaving me satisfied. It feels great to be going strong at a time when many just give up. :)
