This is a good team. I don't do well by eliminating things from my diet.

I also believe a lot of the elimination diets are just scare tactics and hype.

Made it to my maintenance weight of 125 pounds.

Eat what you like and if someone comments, eat them too

I think this is such a smart way of realizing that this is not a "diet," it is a lifestyle change. If we can't do it consistently, it won't work in the long run. A successful plan includes leeway for treats, and contingency plans for what to do after a bad meal/day/week. I believe being too crazy is a great way to fail! Here's to moderation!

Another grateful team member here. One of the challenges I have is maintaining a moderate approach to eating and exercise. In the past I've felt like Dr.Jekyll and Mr.Hyde; I'm totally on-track, committed, and on-the wagon, then I get sick of living with all the self-imposed restrictions and switch to Mr.Hyde. So one thing I'm working on is a more balanced approach to eating, exercise and weight loss/maintenance.

I get so frustrated with all the extreme diet and exercise advice that gets thrown around!

Everything I do is in moderation. No extreme diets here; I go to the gym 3 times a week when my schedule allows it; and I just try to make the best choices I can, regardless of what life throws my way.

Love my SparkFriends for keeping me motivated and inspired!

I love the idea of this team! I am definitely a slow loser, and that is okay with me. I am more interested in making small, healthy changes that I can stick with for the rest of my life. I am not very competitive and don't feel pressure to lose a certain amount of weight in a year. I am happy to find a group of people who seem to approach getting fit the same way that I do.

Glad you created this team! I never felt I had much in common with other teams. I'll try not to be too moderate in my participation. :)

You're welcome!!! From the original thread and some of the comments I'm already seeing in this community moderation DOES work.

(I had a grandmother that lived to be 94, never dieted a day in her life, probably weighed the same at ninety four as she did when she was twenty. She seemed to be pretty moderate in all things except spoiling her grandchildren and keeping her house absolutely IMMACULATE.)

I started this group because I believe you can get healthier (and lose weight if that's something you need to do) by enjoying anything in moderation. I'm working on intuitive eating and being a bit more active. I just don't want to make any changes I can't live with for the rest of my life and being twenty-nine and having genetics on my side that might be quite the time period.

So far it's not a bad way to live. I have lost a little weight...I'm coming to terms with being a slow loser because I want to keep the weight off and know that going crazy for a little while doesn't work! I (and everyone else) inevitably gain back more than I lost. I have energy. I'm not crabby (most of the time!) There is more to my life than weight loss (aka I'm not so obsessive as to drive friends and family insane).
