I'm still here ...

I've been updating my weight loss tracker for the holiday challenge. I'm down 1.8 since starting in August. September has been a crazy month & I'm ending it with a (-0.6) loss. I'll take it! emoticon Considering the amount of stress, limited exercise & half/half tracking to end in some sort of loss is good!

Hoping October to be more successful with fall sports coming to an end, working on my 3 goals for October & joining the 5% fall challenge. Looking forward to spicing things up! emoticon

WOW! It's quiet in here.

I have had a crazy busy week with school starting back up and the girls sports schedules. I have ENJOYED my full day home today (well except our soccer game). emoticon I slept in and enjoyed the relaxing rest of my day after soccer.

I've been checking things off my to-do list, actually cooked a meal that we didn't need to race through to get out the door in time. emoticon

I caught up on my week of food tracking this morning too. I love getting things done and feeling accomplished. Plus I have done lots of laundry!

I've got errands to run, groceries to get & house to clean up for today's fun. I think today's fitness will be yard work - raking & hauling, cleaning up flower beds! Garden therapy is the best to help relax a person. emoticon

Good Morning! emoticon

Happy note emoticon my DD made the volleyball team and is super excited. There were no cuts this year as many didn't show up to try-outs or the ones that did quit! I guess, the strong survived and the coach pushed them at each and every session and my DD loved it! With all of her determination & commitment to getting better she had no problems with her serving once she got to try-outs, which was her biggest worry. But our nights outside doing drills paid off!

So now I am a volleyball & soccer mom! emoticon emoticon I'll be busy running around this fall & will have very limited spark time - but I'm NOT giving up! I'm working on my fitness plan for September and going to push myself to get back into the early AM workout sessions. The evenings that allow I will be adding in a PM workout session too even if its outside chasing the ball doing soccer/volleyball drills!

emoticon I did my measurement check last night. emoticon Well, no wonder my shorts I hadn't worn in WEEKS fit so comfortably the other day! The scale may not show it but I'm doing something right! emoticon I think I was a touch emoticon when I did my first measurements but I've toned my arms I can see some more definition in them... emoticon and my legs have firmed up too! emoticon emoticon Must be from all those miles this month!!

Same here Jody! I must be doing something right despite the scale not showing it lol. I tried a top on today that I bought in the sale last year, never been able to wear it as it's a size too small. My jeans are feeling looser so I thought what the hell, let's try it. And it fits!! Woohoo!! I was so shocked that it actually went on! When I got it last year I could barely even get it on at all, now it actually looks nice!! Yay! emoticon

Well the scale may not be showing it but I'm apparently doing something right! I put on a pair of shorts I haven't worn in WEEKS! Well they weren't too tight today - actually they fit quite comfortably! emoticon

I've got dinner prepped & in chilling until hubby gets home and can put it in the oven. Plus I've got fruits cleaned up and grocery shopping done! emoticon I've got my chocolate smoothie ready for the road and off I go ... emoticon

emoticon here too - just been around the park again despite my legs killing me! so thats another 4 miles done and I only need to do it twice more this week... phew I'm so tired, it's obviously working!! It's a bank holiday here in the UK and the park is hosting an international music festival - there was thousands of people there!! That's one way to become less shy about power walking in public.... emoticon

Have a great week everyone, I am hoping, praying and wishing for a loss this week. It seems like I've been at the same weight for forever, I guess that's what happens when you get 5lbs off in one week. All I want is 1 more lb....

Blimey Jody, you are a busy bee at the moment!! I hope you have a great birthday meal, don't worry about it not being too healthy, your birthday only happens once a year! That and you're clearly getting a lot of exercise, even when you're not working out - painting, laundry, cleaning, it all adds up! And you're getting some great workouts in too!

Well today my body is absolutely DEAD after my surprise 4 mile power walk. I was planning on going again today but I don't think I'd be able to make it all the way round... and I'd have to otherwise there'd be no getting back! LOL! I think my plan is to do that power walk Monday - Wednesday - Friday every week, and when I start getting a bit fitter, add a little jogging in every so often and build up. I realised that if I end up being able to run round the whole route (LOL not for a while!!!!) I will actually be fitter and a better runner than I used to be when I was running 5K races so not only is it handy and cheap, it will give me something to aim for. All I need to do is KEEP IT UP! That's how I lost all my weight last time. When I first started running I was terrible but I kept it up and before long I had lost a lot of weight and was much, much fitter. Fingers crossed the same will happen again. My only worry is my knees aren't what they used to be due to all the running, but hopefully if I take it steady and build up over time it'll be fine. I'm feeling so excited, my body hasn't felt like it's been worked this much for a loooong time! emoticon emoticon emoticon Also the benefit of moving several hundred miles away.... nobody knows who I am around here so I don't need to worry about what I look like emoticon ha! Hopefully I'll be reporting a loss at the end of this week, I'd love to get to half a stone in a month.

Alright its been a busy morning & I thought I'd take a breather for a minute - catchup on Spark, track my foods so far & then get back to it.

We managed to get the painting project 95% done. We just need to wait for the stairway walls to dry & then we can do the final touch ups. I put everything away that we won't need to use anymore, watered my poor outside potted plants (so hot here today emoticon ), got a couple loads of laundry caught up. I finished the upstairs hallway and vacuumed, got some dishes put away & before all of that I busted out 7.86 miles on the stationary bike this morning. emoticon Plus I did my Ab Challenge for the day! emoticon It!

Now I am going to get cleaned up & go get my girls from my mom's house. Tomorrow we are celebrating my birthday at my grandma's. She's making her delicious and not-so-healthy for you homemade pizza and I am sure some sweet treat too! It is my birthday after-all! emoticon My actual birthday is Tuesday but I will be in meetings for a good portion of the day and then school open houses & volleyball try-outs for my DD! Plus hair cuts in there too! emoticon I'm exhausted just thinking about it.

Oh my goodness.... I seriously misjudged the size of that park! I went power walking and I knew it was one big circle... but I didn't realise how big! I've just looked it up and it was somewhere between 3.5 - 4 miles! Wow! I was expecting a brisk walk but only to last 30 minutes or so just to get me back into it! Oh well can't complain, it was some really, really good exercise! My plan is to do that a few times a week... and hopefully watch the pounds melt off! emoticon

Jody you are doing soooo brilliantly! I'm starting to not care about what I see on the scales to a certain point. As long as it's not terrible. If I'm doing the right things it'll come off.... all in time. I'd rather go really, really slow and have it never go back on again than I would rush it all and have it go back on again. I am about to take a leaf out of your book and start getting some real exercise in. I've got my kit on and am about to have a walk/jog around the park. I'm really hoping I enjoy it because it'd be so easy to just do that once a day instead of having to pay to go to any classes. It's how I lost weight the first time round too, so here's hoping I do OK.... emoticon emoticon

I weighed in this morning to see a +0.4 on the scale! emoticon
I am so proud of myself because any other time I see a + I freak out & give in for the day. Not today ... here is what I accomplished

emoticon 5.06 all-walk miles (goal 5 walking miles)


emoticon Ab challenge; 22 modified push-ups, 80 crunches, 1.30 min plank hold! emoticon


emoticon Got 3 good bonus burn sessions in of painting! emoticon My upstairs hallway is all done! emoticon Tomorrow morning we need to finish the final coat on the stairway! emoticon I didn't track the painting of around the trim work as that was not much of a burn, but up & down a ladder a bazillion times and rolling on paint is a sweaty job! So I counted it!! Plus Spark counts it ...


emoticon I've tracked my foods for the day!

emoticon Found out when I need to report to work for my first day - one less stress to think about!


Now I am ready to sleep! emoticon

Hey Jody, I'm here! I've been feeling a bit crap to be very blunt - the job interview I had turned out to be absolute *&^%$ - it was unpaid apart from commission. So if you sold something you got money... if you didn't then tough you had to pay for all the travelling (& a lot of it!) for nothing! I was offered the job and I said no, the boss actually tried to bully me into TAKING IT?! Well I specifically sat there and wasted 30 minutes of his time then told him I'd call him to tell him if I wanted the job or not.... I was never going to call I just wanted to make him sit at his desk waiting for nothing for hours emoticon I feel a bit down that I've still not got a job but I'm keeping the hard work up. I'm still applying for loads of jobs and have actually started thinking about what I want to do career wise, so I've set up a website that I can post bits of my creative writing onto... hopefully that will go well.

I'm still the same weight ggrrr! But I am starting to feel a bit different and I feel like I might look a bit different too? I don't know! I've found that there's an absolutely stunning park just round the corner from here, so my plan is to start jogging a decent amount of times a week. It's free, I used to love running and hopefully it'll be just what I need.

Sounds like you're doing brilliantly fitting it in still Jody, I need to be more like you!! Well done on your job placement, hopefully some of your luck will rub off onto me!

Yesterday was CRAZY! emoticon My blood pressure has got to be through the roof the past few days. It has been non-stop on the road running, here & there and everywhere in between! I was gone for 12 hours yesterday! I am glad to be home today, the house needs some much needed TLC. Girls are gone to my mom's and I am going to deep clean this house!

I've got in 2.9 miles of my 5 for today. I'm trying to make it an all walking day. This will leave me 2 more to do by the 31st. I CAN DO IT!!!

Found out yesterday the official word .... I have my job placement for the school year! Yahoo!!! I'm not sure when I start I've got to get in touch with my supervisor today and find out. Plus next week I have 2 days of meetings I have to attend so those will limit my spark days & walking days! So I am hoping to get those last 2 walking days in by this weekend so next week I can do walk/bike miles daily to reach my goals.

Hey Erica! Well done on popping in here - we've got quite a few new members and only a couple have come and said hello so far!

That's a very good system! It sounds like you're doing great! I'm also proud of what I've done today. I've eaten well and I'm not hungry at all. My soup was delish omg! Who knew that a 1.50 carton of ready made soup could taste so good! and only 400 calories for the entire thing. It was chicken, garlic and white wine.... mmmm!

I'm so jealous of your lovely weather. Here in the UK it's just dull. We've actually had the best summer we've had for years but it seems that our Autumn has arrived early. There's talk about the sunshine coming back but I doubt it! All the A/W13 clothes have started arriving in shops already, so it already feels like winter is on its way here!

Jody, I bet you are totally sick of cooking now! I get like that too. I spend a whole day cooking then I don't want to be in the kitchen ever again....

I've created a recipe thread if anyone would like to share any healthy recipes that they love. I've already posted one of my favourites. It's going to be very obvious that I bake rather than cook after a few of my recipes go in there....

This is my first time posting in the cafe.....just wanted to say hi and hope all of you are happy with your choices today...thats really the best way to look at things each day....
are you proud or quilty with what you ate and have done? That helped alittle for me in the past...

So far today I am proud....Ive eaten only good whole grain carbs, Ive used very low fat cheese and lean turkey meat for my sandwich....and I have completed my first set of strengthening exercises that includes my laying down leg raises back and stomach, my bridging with leg raises, my resistance band leg work outs, and pelvic tilts and more,.....
with a 30min cardio brisk walk around my neighborhood

Well done Jody!! That's a great idea to use up some healthy ingredients to make some nice meals. There's even recipes out there for incorporating veggies into desserts - perhaps we should start a recipe thread??

Well I've had a MENTAL day! I was getting fed up of not having a job so last week I applied for a job that I thought I wouldn't really want to do. It's basically sales. I got to the interview and discovered that it's a brand new company, the managing director is a very young chap and he's actually looking to hire someone that will work from the sales and get to managing director role of their own marketing company within about 2 years.... wow! If I had known that before going in I'd have been a lot more nervous but because I thought it was a dead end "for the time being" job I was totally relaxed and he was very keen on me! I've got to go to an all day training session tomorrow and will know by the end of the day if I've definitely got it or not. He said he was very keen! This new start of mine might be just around the corner....

As for food I haven't been at all hungry today because I've been so busy. I had a salad for lunch and have a chunky soup with some crusty bread for my dinner. I feel so pumped I'm going to get some exercise tonight and then get into bed ready for tomorrow! Yay! Hopefully this is just what I've been waiting for, and if not, it's certainly given me a confidence and mood boost if nothing else!!

emoticon I've got in almost 2 miles today so far...my ab challenge is done for the day & I just have a little over a emoticon worth of miles to make my workout complete!

Today is going to be a baking day here. I have some zucchini I'd like to use up & some canned pumpkin too. I want to make up some healthy muffins, breads, etc for quick-healthy wholesome snacks for school. Then all I have to do is take it out of freezer by snack time, its thawed and ready to eat! emoticon

Some weekend I'll make up a batch of waffles to freeze too for easy breakfasts. Makes school mornings a touch easier! emoticon

Sarah - no problem...planks are the worst! I am currently doing the Ab challenge that will have me back up to a 2 minute hold by the end of the month. Today's 1 minute/15 second was a killer! emoticon In March I did a self-challenge and held out for 3 minutes by the end of the month! YIKES!

It's a good core workout! emoticon emoticon

I just was outside running after balls that my DH & DD were hitting around & then went to get in my last bit of miles for the day. I had to go potty so bad I had to rush home before I could finish! emoticon Potty Dance ... burns extra calories!

Now I have just under a mile to get in to finish my all-miles day! emoticon

Jody! Thanks for doing that it looks brilliant!! Well done on fitting your workout in - I think that's what we need to remember. It's not about doing it all the time but it's fitting it in when we can! I've just done a 20 minute aerobics session then some kettlebells and then a plank. Does anyone else try to plank?? Oh my goodness it hurts... I can only hold it for 10-15 seconds at the moment but I'm hoping to get better!

Well I'm feeling very good about this... this is going to be a good week I can feel it! emoticon emoticon emoticon

Sarah - Thanks for the reminder! emoticon I just posted a new post under the Holiday Challenge where I will update my weigh-in's every week for you to review that way you don't have a bazillion posts to look through. I even fancied it all up with tons of emoticons! emoticon

I got in 3.5 miles today & still have a 1.5 miles walk to do. I thought since I was home all day I'd get in another all walk day as these days are getting more & more limited. Now I'll only have 4 to do! I'd like to get a couple more done this week as my last week in August is packed! But we'll see this week is pretty crazy busy too! emoticon (That's me going nuts!)

Hello everyone! Hope you've all had a good weekend. I've done OK on the food but I definitely could have done better. I'm having a very good food day today. I'm thinking I'll weigh in on Friday, I'd love to get another pound or 2 off by then. I haven't been exercising much recently so that's something I need to get back into the habit of. Perhaps later today I'll do some aerobics. I definitely need to do something. My kettlebell is good but it's certainly not enough to rely on.

Jessica it sounds like you're off to a brilliant start - keep it up, tracking is a very good way of keeping an eye on what you're doing. You will definitely see results if you keep it up.

Jody it sounds like you're doing fabulously too - I am loving this dedication and effort - it's making me want to do better too! Keep it up! I definitely need to take a leaf out of your book and get more exercise!

Hi all!! Began exercising a couple days ago, definitely sore! Just tracked my dinner and today is the FIRST day I've come in within my target calorie range - and I don't feel hungry which makes me super stoked emoticon Just need to keep this up and I'm hoping to see an improvement when I weigh in next week. Haha Jody, you made me laugh with that "smoking your butt" comment! I bet she's doing really well! It seems we all agree that food is the most important and challenging part of the journey! Argh, at least now I'm realising this properly I might be able to keep this weight going in the right direction. I'm just trying to take it one day at a time at the moment and hope that lots of good days will add up to some good weeks.

WELCOME JESS! There's no need to be nervous, everyone in this group is fabulous - some of the nicest women I've ever conversed with online. You've probably done the right thing by joining a small, close knit team - we are all here for each other and try to help in any way we can. I hope you start to see results quickly, I bet you do!

Trisia, I will be starting to think about some proper challenges soon. I've already posted one in the challenge forum - it's nothing to actually do besides lose weight in time for your favourite holiday. Perhaps if we all keep a note on how much we've all lost since August at the end of the year I can total it all up so we can see how much we've done collectively. It might inspire us all to crack on and if we do well it might also inspire others to do the same. Hope this sounds good?

Food tracking seems to be the biggest factor in weight loss. I think I'm going to get through August & finish up my fitness challenges and do what I can to save the month & hopefully get a loss here soon! Then in September put my focus & energy into food tracking to get me on track!

I'm so glad to see so many new teammates. Sarah you are going to rock this team. What challenges do you have on the horizon?

Jody - So glad to see you back and the love reading the daily posts.

I'm currently on day 10 of a 14 day Phase One of the DASH Diet. It is the most amazing thing I have done for myself in a great while. For the first 14 days, there is no fruit, sugar, breads, starches (except beans), no milk. It sounds horrible, but I'm on day ten and I haven't had this much energy in years. Phase Two everything is back, but in moderation. This diet has been around forever and is exactly what our mothers and grandmothers have always told us. Lean protein, fruits/veggies, low fat dairy, nuts/seeds and sweets in moderation. Limit OR NO processed foods. I am thinking I may never eat PROCESSED Foods again.

Well, I'm glad to see this team coming back to life. This was always my favorite team.

Sarah - I agree. Food is 90% of the battle and for some stinking reason I can NOT get it under control. I keep asking myself - what's the point of busting 5+ miles a day & working my abs if all I am going to do is eat junk to ruin my efforts.

I challenged my mom this week to tracking & that little devil is smoking my butt on the challenge! Good for her!! But geez, I'd like to have a good day....

With running my DD to volleyball camp this week for 3 days (today was the last day!) it has really thrown my schedule off whack. I am hoping to get a grip tomorrow. Friday is weigh-in day & I am thinking its going to be another stinking gain. emoticon I went shopping today with my DD and bought a new pair of dress pants, hoped for 10's but had to go with 12's. That was the only pair I bought & thought about all the others I'd like once I lose some weight again. Just gotta emoticon forward!

I hope you're all well today - I've woken up feeling determined! I am starting to realise that 90% of my battle is with food. If I have a great few days with food I lose weight, if I'm not great with food but exercise my ass off nothing happens! Today I'm going to both eat well and exercise. I made the silly mistake of weighing myself, I've gained a few lbs but I am hoping that it's all bloating. I can gain upto about 6lbs just from TOM! No wonder I feel like a hippo this week! emoticon Anyway, hopefully it is just bloating and when I weigh myself again this time next week I'll have lost quite a bit. I want to see my ticker moving into double figures soon!

Jody! I can't believe you've woken up with an entire new attitude and I've not been around to witness all this dedication! You go girl!! I haven't been feeling too well - also TOM over here so I'm not weighing myself this week because I get so depressed despite the fact that I know it's bloating. It's ridiculous how much of a difference it can make. So I haven't really felt good but I'm proud of myself today - everyone here was ordering food again and I resisted temptation despite being very hungry and feeling like I could eat all the bad stuff in the world (because of TOM) but I went for the healthiest thing on the menu - a baked potato and some chicken! I usually let myself fall off the bandwagon on this week but I'm dedicated to keep at it all week and hopefully next week I'll see another loss! Wooohoo I'm feeling good! emoticon

Hello Slimmers.

Today was a crazy busy day & what was supposed to be a fun time started off that way and then I apparently ate something that had a preservative on it that I didn't know about so...I have been suffering with an upset stomach since lunch time. It sure saved me from over eating at my hubby's birthday dinner celebration. I didn't even have wine with my pasta! Plus I only ate 1/2 slice of Peanut Butter Pie! emoticon

I reset my tracker goals this morning to get me to my next goal weight by 12/27/13, which will be the Friday before my New Year's goal I've set. I'm aiming to go down 14 pounds & that will put me at 160.

I woke up this morning with a new attitude! Today is a new day to make healthy choices & regain my focus. I KNOW last week I rocked my workouts and did fairly well on the eating end - well until yesterday! emoticon So that scale can stick it! emoticon

Hubby & I went on a nice walk this morning and I got veggies/fruits cut up for the day and a pork tenderloin in the slow cooker for dinner tonight. I'm going to be positive about the day & make it a great day!

Well today I was rather pleased with myself! I gained a few lbs back over my birthday week but today I weighed in and that last one is off again so it's all down from here. I'm hoping it won't take me long to start losing at a really decent rate now. Living with the inlaws at first made it harder but I'm starting to get used to their ways now. They don't seem to eat proper meals, instead they just graze and eat rubbish but eat hardly anything in the way of an actual meal. I really can't live like that so I'm trying to eat small for breakfast & lunch and occasionally allowing myself a treat with them after dinner. This seems to be working better than anything I had tried at home. I'm hoping to lose somewhere near a stone in total by the end of September which means I have 9lbs to go. Hopefully this is do-able, I'd like to start buying some of the cutesy knitted jumpers and cardigans I'm seeing in the shops in a size smaller by Autumn/Winter.

Hey everyone, as I said yesterday I had a little bit of a break over my birthday and now I'm back and getting on with it. I worked out yesterday for the first time in a while, silly me decided to do step aerobics on the highest step I have and well today, my legs are in agony! I can hardly walk! I'm supposed to be going to zumba later with my mother in law... that should be interesting!

Hey guys sorry I've not been about for a bit - it was my Birthday last week and I've had job interviews to attend... just waiting to hear. I've been eating pretty badly over the whole week that it was my birthday oops! But this week I'm getting back on track. I don't know about you guys but here in the UK the autumn/winter clothes are already starting to hit the shops. I know winter clothes cover you up more but I love baggy snuggly jumpers, so I'm hoping to get a decent amount of weight off in time for the colder weather to maybe get the next size down.

It's become very, very quiet here which is something I think we should work on! So if anyone has any ideas on what they'd like to see to improve this team please private message me and I'll get working on some stuff emoticon

Hey Leslie!

Gosh I was feeling terrible that I hadn't been on here but it seems everyone else has disappeared too! If you're out there please come back lol!! I have just stayed with my Mum for a week - she has had an unusual amount of time off work and the weather has been absolutely glorious here in the UK (for the first time this year!) So I went to stay with her, spent a lot of the time helping her in her garden and walking her dog for her. I have been researching cheap exercise for back up here in Liverpool as working out at home is really not working for me. We don't have a huge amount of space and I feel a bit weird about working out in someone elses home - I know they don't mind, but that's not the point. I'm sure you all know what I mean. Anyway, I have decided that swimming is my best option. It either costs 4 per swim or 13 a month unlimited, so I thought what the hell, that's money well spent, it will not only give me time to myself away from the house to chill out but it's also awesome exercise.

My friends and I were in the audience on deal or no deal again yesterday, this time front row and I was very unhappy with how I looked, so I really need to start properly shifting this weight for good, and I'm hoping to look considerably different by the end of the year.

Hey ladies - hope all my American friends are having a great week!

I haven't been on here for the past week because I literally haven't had any space to exercise lol! Our room has been full of Chris' sisters stuff - she was meant to be moving out so got all her stuff ready to go then didn't go and didn't tidy it up until yesterday - a whole week of barely even being able to move. Anyway that's all gone now so today I'll be starting to work out again. I was planning on exercising daily throughout July, but it'll have to be daily apart from the first 2 days lol! I still don't have a working scale... I really need to sort that out. Hope you're all well, Jody I hope you stay pretty much on track with your veggies and water but don't worry too much - you can have a little treat as long as you make up for it in other ways!

Good Morning - day 3 of July. First 2 days went alright! I've been tracking & getting in my daily FitBit goals. Sure hoping something at some point in the VERY NEAR future clicks and gets this scale moving in the downward direction! Good grief. emoticon

This weekend we have a couple holiday festivities to attend. There is always very little vegetable & a whole lot of good tasting junk emoticon and/or lots of grilled meat - like at every meal! emoticon So I am going to remedy my dilemma - I'm bringing lots o' veggies to both festivities! LOL

Hello Slimmers

What a productive Sunday!

I had 10.8 miles to get in today to reach my June mileage goal and I was DETERMINED to meet that goal ~ nothing else this month has been met so I figured for my own sense of accomplishment and motivation I BEST meet this goal!

Well, I did it! emoticon With more to add! emoticon

The DD's & I stayed in this evening, had subway for dinner and watched a movie! They thought it was cool to eat in the rec room and in front of the TV! The little things in life that make one happy. emoticon

Then we went outside and they rode bikes around and played while I weeded 2 of my flower beds. We had a huge family bike ride this afternoon to help me get to goal & while it rained earlier I finished my goal miles in the basement. So my legs were not looking for any more miles today! emoticon

Since school has been out I'm trying to get things done, focus on losing the 8 pounds I gained over the school year & we've been traveling. This is going to be my first weekend home in weeks! Traveling & busy schedules cut into my spark time!

I'm trying to track. Such a painful job but I know when I track I do better & the scale shows it. I'm keeping my fitness streak alive too. emoticon

I will try to get on here & chat more. We have some upcoming vacations coming & there will be limited Sparktime then too.

Hope you're all having a great weekend, now that I've got time to do whatever I want again I've started some knitting and it's getting done really quick - I'm going to have to find some slightly more challenging projects to get my teeth into.

The first thing I'm doing today is watching last years the biggest loser UK (as I didn't have time to watch it while it was on) while I get some exercise, probably my kettlebell. Have a great weekend whatever you're doing! emoticon

Sounds like you are doing great on eating. Passing on the wedges and replacing with salad is a big plus.. getting in those green veggies.

Trisia don't you worry, now that I have computer access you won't be able to get rid of me lol!! Great news that you're getting stronger all the time, I'm sure you won't slow your family down on vacation and even if you do I'm sure they won't mind!! Just try to enjoy it if you can.

Well, I've already had some responses from the jobs I applied for and even had a phone interview today which went very well! I have a face to face interview next tuesday! It's only for a temporary job but the hourly pay is great - if I get it I'll be on the same wage I was on in my last full time job but for doing 2 & a half hours less work every day! I can't complain! The only thing is the start date isn't until August, but at least it'd be something!

Oh and I also discovered that I passed university!!!! wooohooo! emoticon I had convinced myself that I was going to fail! So now that I know I can apply for graduate jobs, I'm hoping to really work on my portfolio ready to apply, but it'd be nice to get something temp for now just to get some money in.

As for the diet it's going really well. I'm having the odd treat but eating so much less than I was, and last night Chris' mum was making everyone chicken and wedges, but to keep mine healthy I skipped the wedges and had it with salad... the whole meal was only 300 calories! I'm not exercising as much as I'd hope but I'm trying to increase the difficulty. I've put my aerobic step on the highest setting and I can really feel that in my legs! I've only used it twice so far this week but intend on using it over the weekend too. Hopefully it's all working out... things are certainly looking up! emoticon

Aw Sarah, you've been on my mind a lot lately. I'm so happy things are working out at Chris' family's home. Just remember it's for a short time (you know with the father being annoying). You need to keep tracking! Look at your stay with them as a new fresh start for both your life and your eating. This is going to be great!

Good luck on a job, I know you are trying very hard and the perfect one will come along, just you wait.

Well, things in my part of the world are going well. I'm getting stronger everyday with my ankle. I'm pretty much out of the cast/boot thing, but now wear a lace-up brace. The brace is very uncomfortable. Our vacation is coming up soon and hopefully I won't slow my family down too much.

Blimey it has been quiet here hasn't it! I've not had any computer access and have been so busy. We've moved out of our flat and into Chris' parents for now and I've only just got my computer set up again. So far, I really enjoy living in the area, it's a really nice place and I can see myself staying here, it's just living with Chris' family is really stressful. His dad really annoys me as it is so having him here 24/7 isn't helping much lol. But I think if I can get myself a job pretty quick around here I should be able to save up within a matter of weeks, and as living is so much cheaper here we can probably afford a really nice place. I've applied for literally 20 jobs today so hopefully something will come through soon.

As for the weight loss, I haven't weighed for a couple of weeks due to being so busy and moving, I'm having my lady week this week too so I don't really see any point in weighing yet because I always gain due to being bloated. I'm eating much better though, I've bought myself salad for lunches, and today all I had was a big bowl of cereal and a small flapjack for lunch. I don't feel able to go to the cupboard and snack like I would at home so it should do me the world of good. Hopefully I'll be here just long enough to get into some really good eating habits lol!! I'm looking forward to seeing how this adjustment effects my health - I'm hoping it'll really help.

I'm so glad to be back on here, I've really missed logging on daily to keep myself on track and of course have missed chatting to you lovely ladies. Hope you're all well emoticon

Okay, so you weren't lost - it was me! School is out for the summer emoticon and I soooooooooooo desperately need to get back on track. Another emoticon asked me how I did going back to work with eating/exercise. Yeah, I gained 7.8 pounds to be exact in the past 8 months! emoticon

Tomorrow I'm back to tracking. I'm going strong on my quest to keep a workout streak going for 13 weeks. Aiming for 5/7 days at least 20 minutes a day. Currently I am on day 4! emoticon I'd like to beat my previous PR from BLC for my minutes & days for 12 weeks...something to strive for!

Sarah, I love your new photo! I need to update my Spark page with new photos. I'm really happy you are adjusting to the changes coming up in your life. You will look back on this time and realize it was just a tiny blip and there will be so much good coming from it. Already you indicated you'll be able to save for a mortgage and you'll be near Chris's family. We had to move 600 miles away from all our family and friends when we moved from Missouri to Texas. We were just talking this morning on the way to our son's swim meet at 6:00 AM!!!! how much we really miss our home state and being near family. So he's going to keep his eye open for jobs back home so we can move possibly after our son graduates...We are not Texans ,our hearts belong to Missouri and the Midwest.

I'm glad to know that you are using the Spark People nutritional tracker...Have you turned on the meal plans to see what they suggest...you can always click on the food and it will give you a whole page of similar type foods to substitute. I love using this tool they provide for us. This alone has helped me stay within my calorie intake.

My ankle is healing....slowly. I start using a lace-up brace on Monday for an hour and increasing my time every day. I kind of cheated and tried it Thursday for about 1 1/2 hours and it irritated the incision site so bad. Friday I had to wrap the site and use my boot because I could hardly walk. Gee- Duh maybe the doctor does know best.

I will be gentle with it through the weekend and start on Monday like she recommended. I am hoping I'll be walking without braces or boots by the time we go to Florida in July, but I'm thinking now I'll probably be in my swimming suit on the beach with my gorgeous black lace-up brace and sneakers. Won't that be a sight to behold! NOT!

We are letting our son (13) make more decisions for himself and learn the consequences the hard way. So this week the swimmers could pick their own swim meet events. Ryan picked 50 freestyle and 100 freestyle. Now mind you this is the second meet and he's only played tennis this school year. He definitely isn't ready for 100 freestyle. But, I stuck to my word and let him figure it out. He did great in the 50 freestyle, then ate something, relaxed, drank a YooHoo and did absolutely terrible in the 100 freestyle. I hated to stand by and watch him fail at something because he made the wrong decision....parenting is the hardest job in the world.

He was so disappointed in himself and told us how he should have listened to us....now there my friends is the reward.

Just like with our weight. We know deep down in our souls what we should put in our mouths, but do we obey....No. Just like stubborn children, we make the wrong decisions and then have to live with the consequences. Our bodies say, "See we told you so....but you didn't listen."

Let us go forward and be better to ourselves.

I shared with my BLC team what my daughter said to me one day when we were discussing weight and health issues. She said, "Our skeletons are always the same size, it's what we pile on them that determines our future." She is an RN in a critical care unit at one of the major hospitals here. This statement has stayed with me and is a constant visual reminder.

Hey Julianne, we were starting to worry about you! Hope you're OK - things haven't been great for me recently either but we are hanging in there. A positive attitude helps a lot I find. emoticon Great to see you're still around.

Trisia, I'm still tracking! It's really wonderful! I can't believe how much it helps.

I haven't been in the mood for going to the gym this week so I've just been working out at home. Today I completed another step aerobics workout and am about to have a bath. I need to start sorting through all my stuff ready for it to be put into storage. It's so depressing but looking at the bigger picture is definitely helping. We are really considering finding jobs near Chris' family instead of mine. It's nothing personal, and on some levels I really don't want to go there, but for 600 a month (which is very affordable once one of us and then both of us have jobs) here it'd get us a 1-2 bedroom flat, and there it'd get us a family sized 3 bedroom house with a garden which we wouldn't need to move out of until we could afford a really good mortgage. Also it's slightly closer to one of my friends and another work friend who I've got quite close to is moving up there later this year for university, so it'd be a fresh start but I'd be no means totally isolated. The idea is really starting to come round in my head - not only can we afford more up there but we'd be able to save up for a mortgage fairly quickly and we would be able to afford holidays. In the 3 years of being a student I can count the fun things we've done on one hand simply because the money wasn't there - it'd be nice to just be able to afford a day out every once in a while! Anyway, I had better get in the bath and then apply for more jobs again. Have a great day and weekend everyone

GOod Morning - I'm sitting outside on my veranda enjoying the cool morning and sprinkles. I am down another 2 lbs, which surprised me since I ate a milk shake for dinner last night, but stayed within my calorie range. Did real well eating off the menu plan until swim team practice and then fell away.

I hope everyone is tracking their foods...it sure helps me see what goes in my mouth...especially when I don't cheat (myself).

HI everyone!

Sorry I've been MIA for so long. I kind of got overwhelmed with life and stopped logging on SP for a long time. I hope I can be more active now, but still my life is crazy right now and I don't know if I will be able to be the best leader right now. Umm so if anyone else wants to co-lead this team, let us know! I've been such a dud lately! If nobody else can or wants to, I'll stay and try to do better--so sorry to have left it all to you Tree!

anyway, I'll try to catch up a bit on the chat, but it might take a while, and then next week we are on vacation for a week. But--I did miss you all! Have a great day!

Thanks Wendy that makes a lot more sense now lol!! It sounds amazing, definitely give me a shout next time and I'll see if I'm in a position to commit myself to it. I haven't gone to any kettlebell classes - TK Maxx was selling them at half the price I had seen them anywhere else so I got myself a fairly heavy one, it kills me just doing a few squats with it lol!! If you just search on youtube for "kettlebell workout" there's loads of different videos that come up - the 1st one I attempted was 20 minutes long and I actually blacked out lol so don't try to do anything you can't handle if you do try that!! But it is handy for getting used to the moves - I soon learnt to do only what I can manage as I don't want to harm myself lol.

Today I didn't really feel like exercising so the first thing I did (besides enjoy my lie in and read for an hour) was haul myself out of bed and use my step for 35 minutes. I don't know if it's because I really didn't feel like doing it or if I worked myself harder than usual but I'm sweating crazy amounts here! Much more than usual! Hopefully that's lots of weight slipping off lol! The rest of the day is mine to chill out, apply for jobs and generally do what I want without having an annoying voice in my head telling me that I should be exercising!

Sarah~ sorry, as much as Trisia and I have talked about the BLC, I figured 'everyone' knew! emoticon It is a 12 week challenge with about 600 members. There are about 20-22 teams, so everyone has about 30 people to chat with and form connections. That's why Jacie and I talk too much sometimes, we're in BLC mode! emoticon Btw, it stands for Biggest Loser Challenge. There are a few of them on Spark so we started going by BLC.
If you're ever at the point where you're ready for a big challenge, it's a great one. Lots of support, motivation and inspiration. And FUN! There is usually a challenge of some type every week. There ARE a lot of rules, but a lot of people guiding too.
Oooh, I love a good steak! Portion control is key so it sounds like you did a great job!
I used to give my kids chocolate oranges in their Christmas stocking every year. They are SO good! Have you gone to a kettlebell class or is there a dvd that came with them? I'd love to try them but my shoulder isn't ready.

Jody~ I just discovered dump cakes a few years ago. Brilliant! They are SO good and quick to throw together! I'm glad to see you back in here fairly regularly. Keep it up. Stopping in to chat helps keep you accountable to yourself! I was up in your area last week. We went to Kalamazoo to see my mom. I could have done without all of the rain tho.

Wendy I'm not going to lie but I have no idea what the BLC actually is lol - I'm assuming some kind of challenge with lots of rules though from what Trisia has said?

Well yesterday was a good day but I didn't go over the top trying to stay on track - I thought I'd let Chris decide what to have for dinner as he very rarely gets to choose so he decided on steak and potato wedges - I had a small portion but really enjoyed it. Chris also got himself a chocolate orange - of which he gave me 4 segments so I didn't go overboard which was nice. I only managed 10 minutes of kettlebells yesterday and today I was planning on some step aerobics, but the weather is gorgeous so instead I'm going to go for a walk, I have work this afternoon but hopefully that won't be too bad. Hope everyone's having a great day

Trisia~ how great to have no pain, isn't it? That's good to hear. You're going to love the Vikings! That's a good team! I noticed in the friend feed that Julianne(a?) is in the BLC too! It's a GREAT challenge!
I'm REALLY missing it right now that everyone is finding their teams. I keep seeing things in the FF and it's killing me! emoticon Wahhh!

Hello Team!

Yesterday I was finally able to get in the pool...the water was 78, a bit cool for me, but felt great on my ankle. I floated on my chair and then decided it was time to exercise the old foot. Our pool is 34 ft round, and I kicked myself around the perimeter five times without using hands. My foot worked great! I was a bit sore a couple of hours afterward, but NO PAIN! I plan on doing this everyday and going at least one or two rounds longer. One week left to go before I can start using the lace-up brace and NO BOOT!

Well, I'm at the library and my time is almost up on the computer. So I better sign off.

Oohhhh Trisia (Ingrid!!!) well done and congrats!! I can feel the excitement and the good vibes from here!!! You're going to do so well! The trouble with sparks recipes in my case is that there's usually at least one bizarre ingredient used that you can't seem to get hold of over here lol, and if you can it's expensive!

Jody, all I did for that meal was boil some new potatoes for 3-5 minutes just to get them started then put them in a roasting dish with chicken breasts and veggies. To give extra flavour I get some garlic in a tube (as i cant be bothered to crush fresh... also the smell of garlic on my fingers makes me want to puke!) and sort of paint the roasting dish with it, put some fry light on it (1 calorie cooking spray) and then put rosemary in too. I don't tend to like roasts as they can be quite bland but this garlic and rosemary flavour is delish!! Well done on sticking to treats in moderation, that's one of my biggest downfalls too!

Well I am VERY happy this morning as all that effort to make sure I didn't gain over the weekend actually resulted in another loss! I am feeling so good and motivated right now, I'm going at about 2lbs per week at the moment, 2 weeks back on spark and I'm already 4lbs down - I am SO happy! I really want to hit my Christmas day target as if I can get it all off by then not only will I be starting the new year a completely different person but I'll be able to buy lots of new clothes in the January sales - I'll be needing them!
