I started with Zumba but I did it so much that I quickly burned myself out. I have the full kit, and then a Wii game so now I do a routine or 2 about every 2 weeks when I need to change it up. As far as goals go ... right now my main goal is just to stick to this program and keep working on myself and my health. I can get easily frustrated and give up pretty quickly and I'm working on NOT doing that this time around!

Which of the following fitness trends did you try in 2012?
None, I swam alot during the summer, rode my bike in the spring, did nothing in the fall and winter. And gained about 20 lbs.
Which is more overwhelming when starting/restarting/maintaining a healthy lifestyle?
Both are equally overwhelming to me
Have you had to revamp your original goals for 2013 any?
I am trying to gradually increase my exercise time.

I am in the process of switching my goals a bit. I wanted to feel better about myself, feel healthier, lose weight, and tone up. It is all kinda happening so fast. I thought it would take a long time. Now that I am moving I feel alot better and my new pants size makes me really HAPPY! Still need to lose more weight. Toning up is a work in progress. That will probably take a while.. got to lose the weight around the midsection to see the muscles!

In 2012 I didn't do any exercise programs. Just fun activities like skiing and hiking with friends. The problem is I let my eating get out of control and my weekend activities can't keep up with my everyday eating binges. :) I am working on getting my eating under control primarily, but I have wanted to try P90x this year. P90x is just so expensive for something that I may not stay motivated to do longer than a week, because I hear it is pretty difficult.

Exercise habits! Don't get me wrong, I actually enjoy exercising, it's just that I am naturally very lazy and especially if I am too hot or too cold, it is really not an easy thing to overcome.

I think both. Exercise is a little easier for me, just because it is either a do or don't, it's clear cut. I either make it to the gym or not, but food is a constant battle for me, I have to think about every bite.

Both feel a bit overwhelming most of the time though. I come from a family of small people, they don't have to worry about food or exercise, they are just tiny. Wish I had gotten those genes!!

BOTH! My eating habits, not just food choices but when and where I eat, which was sporadic and always at my computer desk is tough. Making myself get up and go for a walk is a disaster in progress. If it were not for the under desk exercise cycle I have, exercise would be basically non existent. I find it weird and by reading what others have shared before me, I am not alone here; the motivation is difficult, and at the same time my desire to change my unhealthy lifestyle to healthy one is strong. My body and mind need to get on the same page!

My wish for 2013: that everyone takes a moment each day to find inner peace and calm. This may not calm the storms of Mother Nature, however it may calm the storms that brew within us.

Changing my exercise habits is more overwhelming. It's harder to get up and get moving at my size/age than it used to be. Backaches, joint aches, shin splints, and then sore muscles if I overdo it. And I know that losing the weight will mean those things will not bother me as much anymore but still, finding the motivation to get up and get moving is still tough some days.

I agree with the others I find both changing my eating patterns and exercising overwhelming. This is the first time I am trying to do this seriously at almost 50 its about time. I enjoy tracking and look forward to seeing results. The one thing I realize is I'm good at taking care of others but have not been at taking care of me. Need balance of work and play and me time to plan to eat and exercise to find me.. Need some girl power here... emoticon

Other---- finding balance. I have so many digestive issues & foot problems, so finding the right foods to eat & exercises to do that won't further these problems is the hardest part. And finding motivation with all these problems is hard too, but I'm finding it.

None of them, I am not a couch potato as I do not have a couch but I do have a chair! I just purchased an under the desk pedal exerciser and am slowly using it each day. Believe me when I say I had no idea that pedaling this thing would make my legs and back side ache in places never known to me!

Everything is overwhelming to me! I enjoy exercise and eating clean, but I struggle getting on track with both. I have a strong case of "Mommy guilt" most of the time- feeling that I should spend all my time focusing on other areas (my school, the kids school, housework, yard work, etc...)

i bought a bike with no speeds last summer and starting riding but only randomly with my son. I plan on riding it more this year when the weather warms up. otherwise i do no exercise at present my plan is to join my work place gym and start walking 15 minutes per day to start 5 days per week for the next two weeks then increase the time. wish me luck emoticon emoticon

I started again with running but stopped again because those dreadful flies are bothering me SO much!!! (I tell you, Australia is fly kingdom). I will start running again once it gets a bit cooler and less flies. Instead of running I started with fitness videos... especially Jillian Michaels. I found them on youtube and doing them 3-5 times a week. I also started Pilates... but that was this year, not last year... I also got back into roller blading...

I suppose I could say I joined a gym- I did, in February, and I went pretty regularly for about 12 weeks... but I also already had a different gym membership, so it wasn't a new thing. The other stuff I only thought about doing. I would love to get my hands on the P90X program, but I just can't afford it. I had a friend who loved it, but she sold her used copy for more than I can find it new. I did find it as low as $80 new, so I may make that a goal/reward for myself...

None of the activities for 2012 but I have done Zumba before and really enjoyed it.

I'm going to start doing Zumba again once a week for a couple of months and I just signed up for a weekly TRX class for the next 3 months. I walk and bike on my own but I felt I needed to schedule myself for classes to get past the mental hurdle I had towards exercising.

I like certain types of exercising but getting started sometimes seems so difficult. A workout buddy makes it a lot more fun.

I've been a gym member for years, and alternate days of weights and cardio. When traveling I use bands and videos, the Spark videos as well. In the summer I love to bike; I also love to walk any season but winter.
Exercise has never been an issue; for me, it's the FOOD!

Ever since I had three pregnancies back to back, my health during those pregnancies and after has been poor. I lost a bunch of weight when I was younger by running, so I thought I would try this. When I started this last year, it brought back one of my major health issues that the drs thought was gone with my last pregnancy. This made it so I couldn't excercise again for a while. Now I am very slowly and cautiously trying to get moving again. We joined the YMCA in our area and I do the SilverSneakers programs. It is funny because I just turned 30 and everyone else is about 80. I love Grammies and Grampies though and we have a blast. I really need to watch what I do for cardio. It needs to be very low impact but effective. Any ideas?

Joined a gym with my partner, went really good for 4 months lost 12 kgs, but then a small back injury stopped me going and I gained 15kgs :(
But back at it this year with a mixture of home exercises and outdoor walks and rides.
:) 2013 is my year.

None of the above. I tried walking on and off, but I've had a lot of trouble with my knee and hips hurting so it never lasted long.

I finally figured out what I needed to do to help the pain, so I'm starting off better this year. :)

P90x... Which I enjoyed but didn't manage to make time for (an hour is a long time!!)

Then, in the early summer, I quit smoking, started a new med, and quit working out. That combination led to me gaining 25-30 lbs in the last half of the year.

I set my ticker to my highest weight of 210 lbs because it gets upset and doesn't want to save when I gain weight instead of lose.
