Leisurely day underway : ) It's cold, snowy and blowy outside, so I'm an indoor-kind-of-guy today. Was scheduled to drive 6 hours west for a weekend meeting but it's been postponed. ah, the luxury of an unscheduled free day : ) I'll do some work for church later on, eat imaginatively, burn some calories doing housework we've been putting off, and Spark to my heart's content. woo-hoo!

I did pretty well today! I did a workout this morning, finished my Christmas shopping, calculated and restrained myself pretty well for dinner, and went on a walk. All in all, a pretty good day!

I'm having a blast today! Been singing, listening to music, and of course I worked out.
Today I did 9.3 km on my exercise bike in just 20 minutes, so I'm rather pleased. emoticon

Yep, JULESJET, the 'meh' days do happen and we learn to ride them out :)
More protein? I've learned to add beans to my salads, add dry-curd cottage cheese to my yogurt, and include nuts in my snacks. It helps.

My day was sort of "meh" feeling.

I did manage to get my butt moving and do my exercises, I did drink all 8 8oz of water, and I managed to control my portions today pretty well, but I wasn't too enthusiastic about it today...

And I'm not getting enough protein according to the nutrition tracker, so I need to fix that.

And my Mom bought a cherry pie and a pecan pie! My household's favorites! I had a smaller slice of pecan pie than I normally would, so I don't feel to bad about it...

I'm glad that today was better, Heather! Why don't you just give the Ding Dongs away? This means there will be no more temptation!

As far as the apple pie goes - congrats on treating yourself AND making it healthier by getting rid of the crust! That saved you ~50 calories!!

My days have sucked lately. I have the flu for the first time in my life. I've had Swine Flu before but never the plain flu. Ugh. It sucks. I planned to start exercising yesterday but I haven't been able to get off the couch. Wahhhhh :(

Thanks for the support everyone. Today looks better but I'm still feeling crummy. One of our dreams is now hanging on a hope and a wish and prayer. Good news, my laproscopy will proceed as scheduled next week. Which I am extremely thankful for. It's just one step closer to figuring out what is going on with my body. I did get out and exercise today. I ran five miles. I feel better for doing it and worked out some anger at things I can't control. And I managed to resist the Ding Dongs. However, the apple pie did go into my belly. Only one teeny slice. Without crust. I took the crust away. lol

I've been the same a lot of my life ... turning to food when I'm upset. But this week, I've been much better about taking care of me. I keep thinking that I'm going to "HAVE" to come here and track it. Now, I know that I can skip tracking, that no one is forcing my hand, but it's working, so I'm soooooo using this tool to my benefit!

Also, I've been using the free trial of SparkCoach. I love it! It helps me to look at the past 24 hours and assess what I've done. I may well pay for it to continue my access. It's something that is helping me focus on me and make the right choices for me. Maybe not perfection, but certainly progress!

Heather I know how you feel, I walked into a , "OH by the way,, did you get your note" at work last night , in which the only evening shift nurse that can do IVs left at 8 pm knowing she had 2 IVs to do (in which she didn't have and emergancy and wasn't sick, just took the voluntary tiem off that one of the other nurses who cant do IVs wanted) , and left me a note telling me I needed to do them , when I came on at 10:30 and didn't get on the floor till 11pm . Then some one left 2 boxes of Hershey's pot of gold chocolates and I helped myself to them. 800 calories worth, ,and 3 snack bags of fritos, doritoes and cheetos. When I am mad I tend to fume and binge eat. I have to get that under control . I was doing so good . But there is always tomorrow. Pluse I didn't exercise today.

Well today has been a good day so far. I did not get my workout in before work but I get done at 8 tonight so I will have plenty of time to do my workout.

I planned my whole days meals and even managed to tell my co-workers NO to ordering out for lunch today. emoticon

I hope everyone is having a great day. Keep up the good work everyone.

So I signed up a few days ago but I turned 33 on Friday and with all the celebrations, I don't think I was really ready. I have really started today. I am getting the right mind set I know I need to be successful and even though today has been really, really stressful, I have not overeaten. I am happy I got my walk in this morning and I am looking at a used double stroller tonight to hopefully buy so that I really have NO excuses not to walk everyday. I am also looking for a 5 K to possibly run in the spring. I am SO NOT a runner and never have been but it is always something I have wanted to try. Anyone else trying new things?

Good so far! I've completed my planned workout and my 3 mile walk and was able to get through the cardio video, not quite as fast as the video would like, but I finished it!

I had pasta for lunch, so I need to make sure I watch what I eat for dinner so that my nutrition tracker doesn't have red on it at the end of the day.

Only 2 more glasses of water before I hit the 8 count for the day!

Back in the office today and it's "November Birthday" day. Someone's already brought a cookie to my desk. BUT! I have to laugh, she also emailed the recipe to each of us and the nutritional info is included. IF I decide to eat it, I'll know the "damage" ... 63.5 calories. Might be worth it from the reports I'm hearing. Right now, I'm enjoying my breakfast and the fact that I haven't felt a need to run over to the goodie table and pile a plate up!

Have a great day everyone!

Good morning, all! I'm so excited! Today's my WI day ... weighing on Sundays helps me keep it honest on Friday and Saturday. I dropped all the fluid I was carrying around from my bad choices! Woohoo!!! I'm going to be able to wear better clothes for my Thanksgiving get-togethers at the end of the week. And I'm excited to make better choices because I've already seen the scale move back into a new generation of numbers. I'm soooooo ready to keep doing this, so motivated!

Enjoy your day! I hope you're motivated to take good care of you too!

Today, I actually slept in longer than I had planned to, hope it doesnt mess my sleep pattern up. I usually try to be in bed by 2pm and up by 9:30pm, last night I got up at 9:30 but went back to bed and slept till 2:30 am. I am an insomniac. and I work nightshift.

So far I have been on track with my eating and surprised myself by not being able to eat as much as I normally do. Hope it stays that way.

How is everyone else doing?

Hello! Happy Saturday!

I set my alarm for 9, but slept an extra 15minutes.
But I did get up and do the Basic Workout Routine suggested for beginners!
Then I had a scrambled egg sandwich and a cup of hot tea for breakfast.

I've just gotten back from my 3 mile walk outside-it's a lovely day here in Georgia.

Already had 4 cups of water today, halfway there!

I caved on eating Mentos candy last night, so I am determined not to give in today.
I can do it!

Val, you are all set for the day ... you have a plan! GREAT!

It's been a slow start here. I woke up with a headache and nothing has made it go away. I've finally pulled the laptop on top of me and made my place on the sofa. It's Saturday, that will work.

The good news is that I just wanted something warm and yummy for breakfast, so I reheated some soup. That did the trick. I'm beginning to notice that I'm getting hungry again. Now, that's wonderful! I notice that I'm hungry. Used to be that I'd simply eat and pay little attention to the signals my body was sending.

I am making changes for the better and I'm so happy for me!

Have a great Saturday everyone!

Good morning everyone hope your Saturday is going well so far.

Well it is the start of deer hunting. All the hunters gathered at my house at 445am. Was an early start to my day. But did not get to bed until 1am so it was a short night. Seeing as I was not able to go hunting do to working today I did go back to bed at 6 and got back up at 745.

Today is a 8 1/2 hour day at work but at least I get done at a good time today. Today is my early day done at 530pm. Usually I work 10-8 3 days a week and 10-9 2 days a week. And my Saturdays are 845 to 530. Looking forward to Sunday.

Sunday I am getting a new used car. Will spend most of the day driving to get it but it will be worth it. I will have to record the Packer game and watch it when I get home.

So I did not get my workout in this morning before coming to work so I will have to get it done later tonight. But that is ok done early today.

I am proud of myself today. I made myself a bowl of cereal for breakfast and I have a tuna sandwich for lunch. Usually on Saturday I would stop at the store and by 2 doughnuts a milk and 2 candy bars for the day. So I am very happy with my choices this morning.

Did not get dinner in the oven or slow cooker today before. My husbands mom is down so we are going to go out for dinner tonight. So I did not want to over do it during the day. I will have to make sure I choose wisely tonight. I am thinking baked fish with a baked potato and veggies or some kind of chicken.

I hope all are having a great day today.

Sorry for the gabbing on today. Saturdays are pretty slow. LOL

My day is going well today. I finally got my work schedule for next week and I have a decent amount of hours. It will be my first Black Friday working in a retail setting, so we'll see how it goes! I've almost completed two weeks of my marathon training plan. I am determined! I can do this!

Hope everyone else is having a great day!

Hello! This is the end of my third day on SP. I've done well so far. Stayed within the calorie intake limits, and done some of the basic workout routines. I was very sore this morning, but I made myself go for a walk and exercise a little. I am hoping that by tomorrow I won't feel quite so stiff!

Hello everyone my name is Val I am new. I started Sparks yesterday. This is day 2 and I must say I am doing good.

Got a little behind the eight ball as they would say this morning but I did manage to get my bike ride in before work today.

Today has just been a very busy day at work. I think it is finally starting to slow down. Only 3 1/2 more hours to go.

I hope everyone had a good day today.

Sonnenweg ... tomorrow will be better. Most of us tend to over do out of excitement to begin. Can you tell I've been round this block before? But, the soreness goes away and we do better.

I'm glad you're here! We can do this together!! emoticon

My day was kind of a bad. I was o excited to get started yesterday, that i started with the focused workout. It says for beginners. Well it still is a very hard one and takes 40 min. and because my au-pair child wanted to go swimming I also went there.
When I woke up this morning I had pain all over my body. I wasn't that kind of sore for years. So my fitness for this day sucked... And every movement too. Well, I hope it will become better tomorow!

Andi, is there a community center or anything like that near you? I didn't know it for several years, but we have a wonderful community center here. For $50 a year, we can join and have access to fitness machines and an indoor track.

I'm like you, I prefer the treadmill. I have to twist my arm to use other equipment or simply take the dogs for a walk. I bet your son would LOVE going for a walk with you!

I just can't seem to motivate myself to exercise. I get home from work (teaching 7th graders - 97 of them!!!) and am so exhausted that I just want to veg out on the couch...or play with my 17 month old son. I don't want to exercise.

The sad part is, if I had a treadmill, I would use it ALL THE TIME. I always have loved the treadmill. I would go to the gym just to walk on the treadmill....as long as I had access to it, I would use it constantly. It was wonderful. Sigh....if I just had the money.

Today was a rough day. But I realized as it got tough to get through the day that I really did need to get serious about my weight loss. So, here I am. Joining SparkPeople and getting this journey started. The day may have been hard, but I've made it work for me. It wasn't wasted!

Day is going along and nearing the end now. I have an early day tomorrow morning. I also found out today that my surgery has been pushed up to November 29th, providing my body cooperates. The hubby is getting ready to leave for his deployment in a few weeks and I have all my Turkey Day shopping done. The holidays are going to be great this year, I am determined!

I got in my exercise today but don't know if I'll meet my nutritional requirements. I had shoulder surgery in September and trying to do things again sometimes causes painful flare ups. Plus it is cold and rainy in my part of eastern North Carolina today. I will end up with a WW Smart One meal for supper rather than try to cook with my arm the way it is. (I can type if I keep my elbow tight to my body.) Still a "good" day because I didn't overeat or eat something not good for me.

Thanks for the warning. I was going to get some bars of some kind when I went out tomorrow. I will check the nutritional info closely.

Three people have been in my office trying to get me to order a sub sandwich for lunch. They are even offering to pay for it. I planned on having a salad for lunch. So far I have resisted. Told the last person that I was trying to get down to the weight on my drivers license. Looking forward to my salad for lunch.

Great to see all the new commitment here, Folks! "Well begun is half done" as the old saying goes : )

Today was a non-exercise day for me and so far, I've been really good about my nutrition intake. Just about to hit the Nutrition Tracker, after that I'll know what I can have for my supper : )

I'm amazed to see how many people joined this week like me! And I'm so relieved to see that I'm not the only one who has to think about not eating. Thanks for motivating me!

My day is going. I am keeping my momentum of exercise, so that is good. Plan on taking the dogs for a nice walk after dinner. And I have watched what I eat today. Sticking to my meal plan!

So far so good! Just completed a 2 mile walk and did some stretching. I feel great! I just need to keep reminding myself that this is not a short term plan and that I can keep myself motivated to keep moving!

All I have to say is never leave high calorie granola bars in your car. I had one for breakfast on my way to work, 1 on my way to see a friend and one on the way home. I should never have bought them to begin with :( But now they are gone and today is going to be a good day :)

Had a good day, stuck to my diet (ww points), and managed to 'refuse' unplanned treats. Prior to eating I blogged, which was helpful in getting me to stop and think before eating (and saved me from a few mistakes).

Success is inevitable

Just joined this morning so we shall see how it goes. I'm hopeful, nervous, scared...I hope I can succeed this time. Or should it be, I will succeed this time? I really need to find my confidence.

Tell us a bit about how your day is going, or went : ) Were you able to meet your fitness and/or nutrition goals? Was it a smooth-sailing kind of day, or did you have (gulp!) obstacles to overcome?
