Hellenackerman Greek yogurt is thicker and not usually as sweet as the yogurt we are used to. It is more of a custard consistency, but thicker than most custard yogurts I have tried. I recommend the Oikos Brand. The honey flavor is a favorite in this house even with my kids. DH will eat greek yogurt, but not the regular stuff.

I am a nut-a-holic.... so I've been avoiding them entirely since I've been on SP.

I love a handful of cashews! Getting expensive though! I love these ideas. I have not tried hummus but am thinking about it. Also, I love yogurt but have not tried greek. Does it have a different flavor? Consistency?

Kashi TLC chewy granola bar - I have one for breakfast each workday. Also, the greek yogurts are really good. I have just started eating cottage cheese, and will usually shake on 1/4 c of granola or Grape Nuts for a little sweetness and crunch.

I also love pistachios in the shell (takes longer to get at 'em!) but I have to be very careful about portioning those out properly.

DH reminded me that with the holidays coming up, that the huge bins of mixed nuts will soon be appearing in our supermarkets. I think I will have to buy several pounds and freeze in smaller bags. Pulling them out and cracking to eat will make me take my time about eating.

Found the hummus that I thought was so yummy, it is by Tribe and sold at Wal-Mart supercenters. I could not find it at Krogers locally. Those are the only 2 major grocery stores in my area. Also, if you check out Sparkrecipes.com there are recipes by Chef Meg for hummus.

My go to snacks are string cheese and yogurt. Oh, and hard-boiled eggs. I don't get enough protein, so I've been trying these snacks.

I am loving Aldi's Fit & Active Pumpkin Pie Yogurt!

I love anything pumpkin...and at 90 calories...it's a nice option when I want something kinda sweet.

actually cashews are very good for you. You simply need to plan for them, as they are higher in calories than some other snacks. :)

DH went and bought me cashews last night for todays snack as I said I was kinda craving cashews!!! Gotta love him, he bought me just a single serving pack. He is so supportive, yet so detrimental to my healthy eating with his eat anything attitude.

I portion everything into the snack bags. I have a basket that is my "go to" with my good snacks in them. I try to keep them 150 calories or less. I also keep low fat cheese sticks in the fridge.
I have a YoNana machine that I make frozen treats with. I am not a big fan of fresh fruit, but I LOVE frozen ripe bananas in my machine... with a few strawberries and blueberries. It's like fruit "ice cream" made of only fruit...
I like to portion pistachios, too. Taking off the shells makes it last longer, LOL!
There really isn't anything I deprive myself of... I just portion it and track it!

Well I just made a double batch of Chex Party mix for the family yesterday and for me, I am doing like one person on here suggested and doing a mix of chex cereals (rice and corn) nuts, and pretzels. I haven't made it yet so going to go to the recipe calculator and see what nutrition facts I can find that will make it a fairly balanced snack. I am also looking into making my own granola adding sunflower seed nut meat and other nuts into it so that it will up my healthy fat intake and cut those empty carbs. I have a big bag of clementines on the counter right now that is my go to snack, I love citrus fruit. I will let you know what else I come up with. I really need to go find that hummus and get some rosemary and olive oil triscuits, yum!

also the KIND bars are really good. they are about 200 calories, but they are pretty healthy and have dark chocolate on them. I have to be really careful about chocolate (because of migraines), but there is enough on there to make me happy and little enough to side step a major headache.

WiccanWidget, I hope you can share your healthy snack ideas. Since I started tracking my foods (yeah SP!!!) I discovered I'm having a problem a meeting minimum calories & carbs. Fats, however, don't seem to be a problem *YIKES*

(SP is surely changing the way I've always looked at food! and that's a good thing)

Ugh, forgot to look!!! He had purchased it at Wal-Mart Supercenter here in town. I went shopping and totally forgot about it. Was too pumped about the meat sale at Krogers.

All good ideas, thanks! I also was thinking that I need to try and contact a friend of mine and see where he got a hummus dip that he had me try. It was really good and so long as I don't remind myself that it is made from chickpeas, then I will be ok with it being a veggie, lol. I think my whole family would like the trail mix idea. I can add dried fruit to theirs as well. emoticon

I bought a big bag of pretzels and broke them up into 100 calorie packs. Also, did the same with baked chips.
Depending on how many calories you need, there is always eating a sweet potato or baked potato. (just 10 minutes in the microwave, and you have an easy snack) (if you go lite on the butter)

Yogurt! Greek or regular; frozen fruit is a great stir-in if you get plain or vanilla or greek. Not as sweet as the yogurt that comes with fruit and very heathy, full of protien and calcium :)

I make a low sodium trail mix of almonds, pecans, sunflower seeds, and 2-3 kinds of chex cereal, all mixed up together. A 1 cup serving is about 150 calories and really does the trick for me.

Hi all,

I am struggling to meet the minimum calories some days on my food tracker. I know from past tracking that being under about 1300 calories I kinda stop losing weight. I am looking for some healthy snacks that I can add but I am not big on eating many veggies or a lot of fruit. Anyone have some good go to snacks that they can share. I do bake a lot on the weekends so even if it is something that requires time to fix, I can do it ahead on the weekends. emoticon
