I've now done 4 sessions of week 1 (the programme suggests 3, but I was concerned about moving up to the next target so repeated the last one). Just done week 2, no 1 session and was fine. A work colleague had advised me to SLOW down the jogging, enough to be able to hold a conversation, which I did and got through the step up fairly easily. The one problem developing is that I'm getting a bit of muscle ache in my left hip, probably mechanical, stops after exercise and fine when I walk. Will keep on and see how it goes.
Five am on a weekday to do these walk/run sessions sounds horrendous, but it is actually rather pleasant. Although I live on a new build estate, I am 100 yards away from 'the old road' which is a single track road that is lovely to walk/run, especially as the sun is coming up for the day. Then I come home, make a cuppa and catch up on the pc, as I am now.
I've got a target to do 5k by 8 August. I'm currently on week 1, day 2 of C25k, which is part of the UK NHS couch to 5k programme. If anyone else would like to comment on their progress, please do, I'm going to write something up here after each session so I can see my own progress; to hear about your progress too would be great .
