I've been running for about 2 months now and last week I decided to get some new shoes at a running store. I bought my previous pair based on how they looked on the shelf and since my arches collapse when I stand as well as I over-pronate, I figured I should go to a real running store and have someone help me out.
I'm still on a walk/jog plan to get up to a 5k, however in my old shoes I was able to run almost a mile without stopping to walk. I started using my new shoes on Saturday and went out Sunday and tonight as well. I'm noticing a lot more muscle soreness in my calf and shin muscles. I put one of my old and new shoes on each foot and I was able to tell that my new shoes have more of a lift in the heel (if I'm saying that right). Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this. I'm assuming I'm just having some soreness because I'm using different muscles now, I sure hope I didn't end up getting shoes that weren't for me.
