Thanks for the encouragement and advice.
This morning I was able to use the polar heart rate monitor that I just got yesterday. It was pretty rainy, windy, and cold this morning, but I went running anway with my DH and our two dogs. The dogs had a fantastic time. It is the first time that we've all gone running together. They pushed me a little harder than I am used to in the beginning. I burned 485 calories by the time I finished running. By the time my heart rate was under 100 I had burned 525 calories. I'm updating my fitness goals to reflect the higher calorie burn.
You should be proud. Keep up the consistency and you will enjoy the results!
Great job! please do not be so interested in increasing pace. go for endurance. You can burn more calories running further at a slower pace than running shorter distances.
I have heard over and over again, with time, comes speed.
This morning was day 3 of running. I've started out doing 2 miles, running every other day. I'm slow, I am going at a 15 minute mile pace. My idea was to increase by .25 miles each week until I can do a 5k, then I will focus on improving my pace a little, and then increasing mileage again if I want to go further. Prior to this I've never been a runner. Couch to 5k never worked for me the many times I tried it. I just finally realized I need to start out at a turtle pace.
This morning I was shocked that running seemed easier. I mean I was still breathing heavy, but physically it seemed easier. I ran with my DH who says that our pace was a little faster this morning. I am so excited to see more improvements. I know that slowly they will come and if I just keep it up I will get there.
This is also the first day I ran at 5:30am. I've also realized that with my work schedule that getting up and doing my workout first thing is the only way to make sure it gets done.
I am so proud right now.
