Yesterday was my first 5K event. I rode my bike to the staging area. I had about 20 minutes to get my running legs going, but the first minute of the run still felt like a brick workout. I walked for about 30 seconds, and then started running. I followed my intended 2 minutes of running/1 minute of walking for about 20 minutes, then went to a 1:1 ratio. A lot of people were alternating between running and walking, because we kept passing each other.

I ended up with a time of 33:07. I mapped out the course - it's 3.6 miles, which is longer than 5 km. That make my time look better. emoticon

I did not ride home. The Hubs, my trusty sag wagon/knight in shining armor, drove me home.

Yesterday was a mini brick workout. After my 10-mile ride home, I swapped out my clothes and went for a run/walk. I was planning for 2 miles, but I ended up with 1.9. As soon as I started, I felt a cramp in my left calf. Because it wasn't limiting my stride, I decided to run through it. I'm glad I did. The pain never went away, but it lessened significantly. ~~I feel strong!!~~
