Some people drive me nuts at work. They are constantly gripping something. Our job is not perfect. No one's job is perfect. Crabbing all the time about every little thing is not going to change it. Guidelines for all nurses: Don't wait till the last minute to get your work done! you are always going to get out late if you wait till the last 2 hours to get everything completed for your shift. I'm sorry, I just needed to vent. Thank you for listening.

Your not a failure until you quit trying.

"Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts." Winston Churchill

How's everyone doing? I'm off today; going to PALS megacode to renew my PALS. We do most of it online now, just go for check off to get our card. Says it might take up to 4 hours!
I sure hope not. I want to do a bit of shopping afterwards. Have to get smaller pants! Mine are getting too loose- how nice!
I almost went to dayshift- accepted a position on days, then changed my mind. Nights are so much calmer and pays way better - 20% more. So, I'm sticking to nights for now.
Anyone else ever consider returning to days?

Keep on Truckin'

Happy belate B-day JMOSESRN!

I noticed that I usually walked between 7-11K per day shift on a medicine unit I used to work. Great job JOYFOCUS!

My latest news is that I need to work on my nutrition as I have been taking in way too many carbs, usually in empty calorie binges. On top of this add some kidney stones and a big push from at least on of my doctors. She is actually suggesting that I ask the specialist about getting a nutrition consult when I see the PA next week.

Amanda, RN

I've gotten more serious and determined with tracking my intake and energy expenditure. I knew that each shift was very demanding, but now that I have a Fitbit, I can see that I take 7K-11K steps per night!

Words mean things.

July news on my part = I celebrated my 42nd Birthday on the 3rd. I enjoyed the fact that this year I celebrated at 86 pound lighter than last ! My daughter is home from college for a few days and that has been great. My only major complaint is the rotten weather. It's been going back and forth between torrential rain and sweltering heat, YUCK !

keep Moving Forward

I have been busy looking for a job again, because as of the middle of June, I was asked to leave my last position during the initial probationary period. I was having some difficulties adjusting to an environment where sweep our problems under the rug and do as little as possible to make positive long-term changes.

Oh well that has led to a couple of great interviews. And I was never totally out of a job, as I have my per visit insurance assessments to do.

Other exiting or not so exciting things happening in my life is that I was without air conditioning for about a month, but got that fixed this last week. I am enjoying the cooler air, not so sure about the dreary, rainy weather outside though.

I keep coming back to SP because I know that there is is always positive energy encouraging me toward my goals. Please feel free to continue to be the encouragement that I and others who come to this site need for sucess.

Blessings,
Amanda, RN
