This is a real problem for me. I am a caregiver to my son and I have no problems helping him whenever he needs something but I am starting to recognize that I need to care for myself so I can continue to care for him. So this is a timely reminder for me.

I like that thought of thinking about what I did right today instead of focusing on what I messed up on today. I want to try harder tomorrow when I remember what I did a good job on today. Sometimes I get discouraged when I list the mistakes I made without looking at the mistakes as a way of doing things differently next time.

However I'm still learning and I am so thankful for the SP website and the leaders of various teams who try so hard to show us how to learn and grow.

Today I did my 30 minute walk pushing 150 pounds in a wheel chair, recorded my meals food tracker and did the 10 minute toning on Jump Start Spark Challenge day 5. Also 8 glasses of water.

Sticking to my January goals!

Today is day 5 for me trying to get 2 liters of water in every day. I was a bit late starting to drink water today but I will do this before I go to bed. This is about the point where I start to slide on any habit I try to change. So my mini goal for January is to drink 2 liters of water each day for 31 days.

Using SP has shown me where I slip up but it has also given me tools and ideas for how to change those slip ups. I am still learning.


At the end of the day, be able to look back and say "I did my best today."

Develop an action plan for every goal. For example, a healthy eating resolution may involve: learning more about good nutrition, visiting a dietitian,finding ways to adapt your Recipes,buying containers to pack lunches, learning how to prepare new foods, and planning

Goals for 2013
1. Check in with Spark People daily.
- Do activities, track food, exercise and track that until I get 100 spark points per day.
I can earn 24 spark points for doing 120 minutes of exercise per day. I find this a great incentive to exercise each day.

2. - Lose 13 lbs in the first quarter of 2013.

3. - This year I would like to hike at least three new trails here in Nova Scotia. I tried 2 new ones in 2012.

Are your goals specific and positive? Rather than vowing "to exercise" for example,reword each goal so that it is clear and measurable: I will walk 30 minutes every day. I will complete a 5K race. I will do a yoga DVD twice a week. emoticon emoticon
