Thanks WHISPERINGPINE for the great tips!

For #5, what would also help fight cravings is brushing your teeth. You should spend a good two minutes brushing; that also gives you time to get rid of your craving. You also might double think about your craving since you now have a clean smile.

Fast food is very rarely in my diet anymore. I can't remember the last time I ate fast food, except for a Subway sandwich once in a while. Several months since I've done that even. I don't miss it. Once in a while I'll think about it, but then I think for a minute or two and realize it doesn't even appeal to me and isn't worth all the calories.

Slightly tipping the percentage of my calories toward lean protein and healthy fats instead of carbs helps keep blood sugars more even. Also eating smaller portions more often helps regulate the blood sugar, too.

SIROIBARA....great snacks that you have planned for yourself. Portion control is very important. I have to watch that on a daily basis....hard to do ....but can be done!

Lindakay...It's great that you are getting check ups for your glucose levels. You are well ahead of the game. Heredity does play a great part! WELL DONE my friend.

Because my mom was overweight all her life and developed diabetes II in her early 50's, and I have been overweight all my life and am 57 I have made it a point for a number of years to make sure my doctor checks my glucose levels and also and A1C test, which diabetics usually have done once or twice a year. It gives kind of a picture of what blood sugar levels have been like over about a 3 month period, and is a percentage. Under 7% is what is wanted for diabetics, and I think under 6% for non-diabetics. Mine have been good and the past 3 years I've worked more on being healthy and doing things to try to prevent developing it. If I hadn't, there is a good chance that I would be diabetic or pre-diabetic by now.

emoticon What has worked for me is snacking on fresh pineapple chunks.
emoticon I also create my own trail mix and store in small sandwich bags. That way, I don't go overboard on portion size.
