I'm thinking of signing up for a 5K on Veteran's Day. I tried to train for a 10K and couldn't quite cut it. I think I got over-zealous and it was just out of my reach. I did one 5K and thought I couldn't conquer anything. I had knee, hip and some other problems. Once I decided to not do the 10K...the pressure was off and I just STOPPED. I didn't run for 3 weeks! Why? I don't know. I started slowly yesterday. Just a mile. I feel it in my hip. ...just a little. I'm going to be smart. I'll run tomorrow. I think I'll be up to 5K again quickly. I've been running all summer. That's my planned event now. Haven't officially signed up....just rattling around in my head.

sat oct 6 - run like a girl half marathon in bellingham, WA! my first HM in 5 years. planning a galloway-style walk run, and hoping to meet or beat my time from 5 years ago (i was a very slow runner:-)

Exciting events for everyone!!!
For me, I don't have anything quite as lengthy as some of you right now, but I do have a few for the month. On the 14th my DH, DS and I are doing a 5K Fun Run/Walk to raise money for education and then on the 20th, a 5K trail race that I will either be walking if I can get some of my friends who are not joggers to do it with me or if I do it solo, I will walk/jog it. And then I also have the Spark Trick or Treat Trot I am signed up to walk/run.
Hoping to do the Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving again this year and then increase my distances for 2013. So glad to have found this team that allows for walking - not always running - half marathons!

Walking in my first 5K this Sunday Oct 7th, Susan G. Komen race for the cure. I am excited and nervous. I am excited because it is my first and I am walking in memory of my best friend. I am nervous because I know it will be really crowded and crowds make me nervous. The race for the cure in Denver is one of the largest in the country. I live north of Denver so I will have to figure out the park-n-ride and catch the bus down to the event. Will have to ride the bus on the highway which gives me anxiety even as a passenger. I don't drive the city highways unless I can't figure out another way to get there. Then after the event I have to find the bus that will take me back to my car. Also since I work 2nd shift being at the park-n-ride at 7am is going to be a challenge. My co-worker is going to meet me at the park-n-ride to help me figure out the whole bus thing and everything else. Even though there is a lot of new things I need to figure out and overcome I am excited for taking these steps to become a healthier me.

I'm training for my first HM in December (Rock and Roll Las Vegas). I had planned to do it last year as well as the San Jose one but injured my foot and was unable to. I'm very excited to finally do it.

I only did one sprint triathlon this spring/summer. I have been working on training up the miles for my first half marathon the weekend after Thanksgiving. I was supposed to do this race last year, but about 2 months before the race, I tore my hip flexor. So I delayed my entry and went about the work of healing.

I have a 5k coming up on the 29th called the Naked Foot 5k. In October I'm running a kk for a local Oktoberfest event as well as a 5k called the Dawg Dash (UW Huskies) I'll probably do another 12k in December. I'm really hoping that 2013 will be my year of the marathon. Perhaps Rock & Roll?
