OK, friends...I have gone and lost my mind. If you see my blog today (which I have yet to write), there will be more explanation, but the long and the short of it is...I've decided that my first half marathon will be October 20th. Lots of reasons...like I said, check out my blog today if you want to know them.
But...I figured I'd best put a post up here to see if anyone else is also planning on taking the leap early. In particular, the beginning runners.
I know that, with my race being in October, I am starting the "real" training plan (which is a 15-week plan, but I'm adding a few more weeks in to get my endurance up a bit more)...literally MONDAY. As in, next week.
I have yet to post a pre-race training plan on this board, as I fear it would be too much too soon for a lot of us. So...if you are looking to push yourself a bit and run your first half before next May, let us know, will ya? I can send you the training plan and Robert and others can help us all out along the way with tips on hydrating, staying fueled for the long miles, running equipment, diet issues, mental hurdles, etc.
I expect a lot more activity on our training boards in the months to come.
