So yesterday I took Noni up to the highlands where Dalhouise and I had hiked at the beginning of February. We did the same rout s without getting lost this time. What I noticed was it seemed so much shorter to reach the end point then when I did it the first time. Much more comfortable hiking in known territory then going into the unknown.

So these are our signs of Spring bursting upon our beings, and take note of the Dalhouise wallowing in a little creek bed..

This days was the first time this year that Noni came out riding with me. I'm sure it won't be the last, but our days are numbered for the freedom to just drop everything and go out to enjoy the sunshine and warmth. Camp season for me begins in about 15 days and 20 days for Noni. I really hope that this year I do get more opportunity and have energy to go out riding / walking / hiking more during the summer then I have had in the last few seasons. Still trying to figure out why my handheld GPS and computer won't work together - haven't geocache in so long now which makes me sad.

do you ever feel like your just an old rusty body of rusted pile of nuts and bolts?

I was sitting here remembering my lament about not having a bike because someone stoled it - that was two years ago now. I have replaced it and I do enjoy getting out exploring. I really need to do more riding - that is the goal for this year.
Anyways here are is a summary of my ride earlier this week

I peddle up this steep - real steep hill and at the top is the hospital - how convient I thought to my self as my heart pounded in my chest.

One of my highlights was seeing this

I can't wait till the rains stop so I can go out once more..45 days or so before I'm back at camp in the kitchen unable to go for walks and ride so easy

. Let's hook up Dalhouise

So on Monday we celebrated Family Day Holiday by heading north 45 minutes to go see a water falls we heard about. On route we stopped to let Dalhouse out to get some exercise and we ended up snowshoeing. We heard dogs barking just up the road so we went exploring.
( left Dalhouse in the car at this spot - worried he would be dog food for these other working pups..

We have company coming for supper. So I'm cooking a lamb shoulder on the BBQ slowly. Also I am cooking carrots, squash, potatoes, garlic on the BBQ as well.
I am helping Noni clean our condo, so dusty and picking up stuff and hiding in another room - you know what I mean right...
I also went for a morning walk with the Dalhouise...

Today the sun was shining so Dalhouise and I hit the trails hoping to practice my map skills.
Well I almost got lost, on the way back I over shot the turn and walked 15 minutes into a dead end. I was sure I recognized different landmarks as I walked on.. Ok I was lost.. Keeping a clear head I backed tracked and took the first turn that once more led me in the right direction, hoping this was not another dead end. Pew,,,, I began to recognize more landmarks, and ... Finally I'm back at the bridge and then over the knoll my car.

I wish I could post a video - it is so adorable Dalhouise eating from the spoon.
My FB and instagram has a video.

Noni wanted to give Dalhouise the left over rice from our restaurant meal ... I say he won't eat it. She mixes it with the beef juice and a couple of beef chunks and we get our doggie container. Well here is the proof - I was wrong - first time in my life honest......
Dalhouise did eat all of it but only after she fed it to him from the spoon. When we offered the container he just turned his nose away in discuss

Noni was asked to make another birthday cake this week.
Wow another week flew by.. Where did it go?

I had to rescue Dalhouise this week. First time was more serious. I went to camp to speak with the owner about some new equipment. While I was inside the office Dalhouise was outside running around exploring the winter wonderland. Meeting over I open the door and there was a huge wolf staring at me only a few yards away.. Dalhouise was at the door.. I think if I was a few minutes later it would had been a different outcome. The wolf took off as soon as I step out the door.

Today Noni and I went to church, came home and there was No Dalhouise to meet us at the door... Strange... We proceed to take off our coats and still No Dalhouise - I go into the living room before Noni ... There curled up sound a sleep on a pillow on the couch sleeps Dalhouise.
What he knows he is not allowed to be there, I quickly shake him and give a gentle tug to the floor.. Phew"........ If Noni saw this he would had gotten a scolding....
Dalhouise owes me....

I think our winter is over... Two weeks of snow is enough.. Don't get me wrong, it is only January still - but now we will have warmer weather and lots of rain to come.
This morning Noni and I went for a walk with Dalhouise to Shannon Falls, about 10km south of our condo.

We have sun, not too cold.. So I asked Noni do you want to walk around the pond or hike around Brohm Lake. Once I was off the couch it was easier for me to make a decision as Noni wasn't giving me any clear directions.

Those stairs were a little tricky going up and down

are you hiking or taking pictures?

This day began alittle dreary, I didn't have too much motivation to get outside.. Dalhouise didn't care about this mood - he wanted his walk. After Noni and I did go to the swimming pool - the pool felt cold today. The hot tub seemed extra hot.

We are having some snow. I take Dalhouise outside. We walk on lease until we clear civilization - I let him go free and he turns around and head backs home.. I catch up replace the lease and continue on our walk. Half way around the pond walk I let him go free again.. We walk enjoying the snow till we get to the turning point.. One way is a long way home and one is short... Dalhouise takes the short trail..
What a funny dog !

So we braved the shopping terrors and drove to Vancouver to enter the mall. Traffic was out of this world. Crowds of human bodies filled every available space in every store / shop we entered- but we survived.
I had to buy Noni a gift.. I see this hot pot cooker... I grab it. Noni is with me and does t say a word... Once we get home I tell her this is going to be her Christmas gift.. .. Hey at least it is not a vaccume !
No it doesn't count... I'm informed... It is for both of us.
( next day I take Dalhouise out for a walk - stop in a store again and buy her a few personal things like chocolates and headphones.. That is personnel...)
Anyways we can't wait till Christmas - we open and use our HotPot ....
It was delicious ..

. It sure did taste good and I think very healthy and low in calories

Dalhouise didn't care.. He is just happy we are all home together

Did a natural workout this day.. Hike 2 km up hobbled 2km down and about 1.5 km around the lake.
The original plan was just to hike around the lake, but once I started on the trail I figured I would take Noni up the "hill" where I was a couple of years ago geocaching. At the top of the hill are towers that you can see for miles around - so I thought i would take Noni there so that whenever she seen these she can say I was up there.
Dalhouise was just happy to be outside on this brisk -2c degree sunny day.

The sunshine makes all the difference in the world. This morning Noni, Dalhouise and I walk for two hours along the Squamish River enjoying our time off together.
Later in the afternoon I go out the door alone to ride a different part of the Squamish River. I think I went too far and too late as it was quite dark when I returned.

In my mind's eye I am in some far away location on a sandy beach frolicking in the waves.
There is no plans to travel this year, I do wish however I am in some place warm... And just think winter hasn't even began to show its ugly head.. Well maybe a little as it was -2c this morning.

So late in the afternoon Noni and I go on a bike ride. I was planning to go myself but all of sudden she has her jacket on and is coming. I didn't mind, but it made me change my route because she is scared to drive on the roads, so with her I need to stay on the bike paths.

I, home here just watching the rain pour out of the sky, enjoying the wet visitors getting an easy meal at the feeders. Later today the plan is to go swimming at the local pool when it is half price. Monday to Friday between 11:30 and 1. You only pay two dollars per person instead of the normal five dollars. ( I think it is five) all I do know two dollars is a fantastic price.
Of course I will have to take Dalhouise out for a morning walk in this down pour before that swim .. Oh Dalhouise..

Dalhouise and I just came home from a quick morning walk.. 7c out side with a few sprinkles of rain falling. Soon I must go pick up my mother... We are going to drive 65 km to Vancouver to eat lunch at Swiss Chalete to celebrate our 6th year wedding anniversary with Noni.
After we eat we will go to one of the malls so that Mom can do some Christmas shopping. I hope to buy Noni some rain pants and possibly shoes for the both of us.

Terrorist .. I always now have this inner fear / anxiety / concern of being shot or blowup when I go to crowed areas.. Not only terrorist but sick wackos are in the big cities.. I like my smaller towns ... But just like the fear of Cougars , Bears - I gotta go

Today - this morning after watching the Remembrance Day Service on TV from Ottawa Ontario, I took Dalhouise out for his morning stroll. If all goes as I plan, I want to hop on my bike later today and go for a cycle while we still have sun shine and warm temperatures .

So come along with Dalhouise and I....

Together with Noni and Dalhouise we go for a stroll.
But first it was to the bank - visit with Mom - after the stroll to the pool but first Dalhouise was dropped back at home to watch the birds coming to the feeders on our balcony.

So let's do a recap the stroll with the family ...

So that was yesterday - I wonder where I might go today?

I don't want to think about Dalhouise getting old .... We do give him a pill now and again for his joints when the whether is wet - just like me.
Today is a very wet WET day.. I have to go out between 10 and 12 to attend a geocaching event so out the door to walk Dalhouise.
First when I told him that magical word. - Walk - he didn't budge pretended not to hear me .. Yea right if I whisper it in another room he is all set to go whiffing his body.. Today I picked up his raincoat.. Had to lift him into it - wouldn't he get off his bed.
Out the door we go... He walks behind me.
We go to the park slowly as he invested some spots and marked his territory ... At the park I pretended to head on our longer walking route and he stops ... Makes me tug him. We do this two or three times...
Dogs do have facial expressions - and I can tell he is not pleased at all with this walk... I grin to my self as I am warm and dry under my unbrella with rain gear on. Pay backs Dalhouise - waking me up in the middle of the night two times yesterday... Pay backs --
Well Dalhouise finally did his main business and I say lets go home...
Didn't have to tell him twice.. Like a bullet he turns and gets to the end of his lease and pulls me home..
That is my Dalhouise...
( no picture it is raining to hard)

So sore, not from hiking but from cleaning the kitchen and packing and unpacking the car.
Yes - today is the last day to cook, the last day of this camp season, and it is Friday...
Been too busy really ro let all this sink in... But Today. This day I begin a six month weekend.
This day is also my last pay cheque also.. Well that doesn't cheer me up to much... Monday I will have to go into the government office and fill out so many forms to apply for employment insurance .. Never like this process... But so thankful it is available to us
Well I better get going, I have hungry staff waiting for breakfast.

Next day ... The floor has been vacuumed - I was able to repair it.. The couch is useable once more and my car is ready for winter now... To top it off after waking up early.. Going back to bed I had a nice sleep in, only to be woken by Noni with a cup of coffee in hand.

Dahouise and I went out the door for a nice hour and half walk .

Today is an off day. I get a three day weekend... Hurray!
Wake up early to take my car to the dealership for the winter tune up and to rotate my winter tires onto the car. A couple of hours later I am phoned and told it is ready. I walk Dalhouse to pick it .. I'm told I have a leaky rear axisle 400 dollars - no it has to wait I want a second opinion.
I also need a 40 dollar inner air filter - OK - replace that. I pick up my keys and return to camp to store my tires. At camp as I reach for the tires in the back - they are my winter tires... They forgot to rotate them on.... I am extremely ticked off.... I phone them from camp... Bring it back and they will fix it now.. This drive to camp and back is 45 minutes each way... Not helping my stress levels on my off day...
Our vaccine belt broke and I am stressing as I take it apart trying to fix it.. I am not good with stuff like that ... I'm a chef ..
Earlier I had to do some repairs to our couch.. Springs were loosen and my wife has been nagging me to fix it since last year.. And so I did it today as well ... I think I fixed it.. So she should be happy now.. The vaccum still needs a new belt ...

Now I get to sit on my chair - watch some TV and try to relax...
Watching Star Trek helps a lot ...
Later I'll have to foot and walk Dalhouise some more - looking for birds..

It took us 16 hours to prepare and serve this meal.. We feed 200 people every day three meals and it takes less time.. Go figure....
But this meal had so much from scratch cleaning, washing, chopping, dicing, peeling, measuring and actually cooking. Everyone was so happy... What more can we ask..
So we are now left with two weeks of work left.. With weekends off.
Down side of that .. We must look for other work.. Apply for EI insurance and have no income for at least 4 to 6 weeks.

So I was sitting in the dinning room checking emails with Dalhouise laying under my chair, when all of sudden Noni comes out of the kitchen holding her two honey cakes in each hand yelling -Bear Bear. I jump up and run into the kitchen. I had brought my camera with me earlier today because I seen a bird that I can't identify and I was hoping it would come back and I could get a photo. Anyways I grab my camera and look around - the bear has jumped onto the roof of our dry storage - Noni screaming must had scared it.

Then ... Dalhouise has awoken from his nap and he comes growling all aggressive like... If he was a large dog his growl would scare me.. But as it is .. He did come to protect us but I had to restrain Dalhouise from chasing the bear who had now jumped over 12 feet off the roof and was looking at us from the woods.

Bird or dog?

Maybe a fish

Today was full.. Walk to the postoffice in the morning to mail a couple of postcards, then a drive to Vancouver to shop at Costco. Then when we came home I took Dalhouise for a walk around the pond. Dalhouise is the happiest dog today.

Great day to be outside

gotta enjoy it while I can

two days after the road opened

Water is getting a little high don't you think?

. This is where the water level is normally

So last weekend was ladies weekend.. It went well. Right after I serve lunch I left camp to go to the condo for some R&R. When I came to the bridge I notice the water was the highest I have ever seen it so I crossed the bridge - stopped the car and got out into the rain to take a couple of pictures.. Home sweet home ... I hear within an hour of being home the road has been closed and the bridge is under water. Also all the road in many other places has been washed away.
Later the next day after being told by the camp owner to stay home - half the staff are stuck at camp and the other in town... To stay put until further notice... I begin stressing big time as staff will be invading my kitchen to cook.. I can't tell y how much anxiety this causes me but there is nothing I can do about it.. Sunday night till Tuesday mid morning I have been prevented from returning to camp.. Food order is on its way also but kept on being turned back.. One school group of 140 canceled .. Stress. ...
Tuesday .. Road has been repaired and water has lowered enough for local people to return home - and I go for it... I need to be in my kitchen...
I arrive at camp .. Most staff now leave camp to get a break and I feed five people who for what ever reason choose to remain at camp and my food truck also arrives.
This left me lots of time to be and look at the damage ..

On Facebook the owner posted pictures of their family walking on the road covered in water with salmon swimming next to them. Also some staff took canoes and paddle the road..

Dalhouise says this is my home, you all are visiting me. But I still need my nap, I'll just park my self right here and keep an eye on things

Last weekend Noni and I hosted a church picnic at camp.
I cooked hamburgers and hotdogs on the BBQ - I think everyone was happy. I had time to reflect as I watched over a hundred or so adults and children play on the field and others lounge talking in groups near the kitchen. It brought back memories of my youth when I tag along with friends who were Christians when they went to a camp for the church picnic. Ironicly those times had major influence on my future life as I now live it here many years in the future.
The people who befriended me help shape my beliefs and led me to Christ, and during my youth and turmoil of a failed marriage and being a single father they were helpful beyond words. Years later I ended up working at this camp as head chef.. Until the head on accident when my world was turned upside down once more.. But the Lord is Good... the end result is better than I could ever imagine as that disaster led me to BC, brought Noni and I together, and a good job at this camp I'm at now - thus this day as we hosted this church picnic.... I wonder what the children will remember "...

Spa day for our little Dalhouise- I do t think he is the happiest pooch on the block just now...

So after we dropped him off - I took Noni down to the beach and we walked for 90 minutes. I didn't think we would be walking that long... But we did and and sure killed the time while Dalhouise was at the spa. I must admit it wasn't a fast heart beating pace.. Just enjoying each other and the scenery.

Dalhouise was so happy when I told him car ride... Wonder what he was thinking as we headed towards his favourite walking area... Then stop the car and we all get out. Noni has him on the lease and into the groomers she walks... All of sudden Dalhouise recognizes this spot and turns around.. I don't want to go in here.... After a few comforting words we pass the lease to the groomer and turn and walk away .... Poor Dalhouise...
In like ...

Out

Yesterday afternoon Noni cocersed me into going for a bike ride. I have been a little lazy this summer when it comes to personal exercise - just so busy in the kitchen I didn't do much walking or riding. Too hot, too smokey, too tired... I can rip off several excuses... And my extra tire around my belly proves it.. So I really must get back to walking and bike riding... My health depends on it....

I had labour day Monday off and so we took Dalhouise to the beach. It was kind of overcast, but still it was a good day to be out and about. While at Nexen Beach I was able to photograph one lone cormorant.

I hope this was only a practice -

Dalhouise

Noni

Over all a good day off

I'm on my way back...
Saturday morning left the camp gates at 7 am. Did a couple of things in Squamish, and was driving out of Squamish at 8am. Arrived at our hotel 2:30 and was able to check in. Rested a bit them rode our bikes to a postcard Facebook meetup at the down town library. Later went to the restaurant that the owner of the camp gave us an appreciation gift certificate too ( casual fine dining) the food was good, but I ate before going because I just knew it would be tiny portions - I know - I know we are on a journey to loose weight.. But I was starving...
Sunday was very thick with smoke, resulting in the hotel pool being closed, walked the suspension bridges for half price because the views were hidden, but enjoyed it nevertheless and would go back. Saved a bunch of money by driving around and doing our own vineyard and orchard tour. Stopped and took many pictures of this but still no views - Noni didn't even see the lake we drove along side of.. But I knew it was there out of sight... Unfortunate no swimming in the lake.
Stopped off at a place that sold fresh goat cheese and Homemade ice cream from goats milk. Came out a little lighter in the wallet.
Monday the skies looked a little clearer so we did a 24k bike ride on the old kettle railway line paths - the smoke has lifted and it was an awesome ride. We stopped and had a picnic from the food I had brought along with us.
Did some shopping along the route Noni found some baking things that she was excited about and I bought postcards. Stopping at the fruit stands and buy fresh fruit.. So yummy.
We seen a few birds, a bear, deer... I don't think anything else.
Stopped a motel last night instead of driving straight home.. I was getting so tired and the car GPS was estimating arrival mid night - no I want to arrive home alive and not exhausted.

Not all was accomplished that I was hoping.. But it was successful in what we did do. Just not enough time in a long weekend getaway. But we are rested, too well fed, and it is good to stay in bed just a little longer and cuddle.
Home this afternoon if all goes as planned without any hiccups ...

It is going to be a long week as it is our last week of summer camp with two hundred mouths to feed coming in the morning. And then....
I have decided to go to Kelowna BC for the weekend, after that who knows?
So I have informed my new kitchen coordinator or what ever her title is that she will cook breakfast for the fifty or so staff on Saturday morning as I'm leaving camp Friday afternoon. I don't think I will stick around for the staff party.
I have arranged a sitter for Dalhouise. I have booked a hotel for two nights. So off to Kelowna my wife and I go for a mini date weekend.

Time off is slowly approaching but...
I'm still torn on staying home and doing many short day trips, or a long haul road trip.. All I do know now is our last week of the summer camp portion is going to be large. I received the meal numbers last night 200 hungry campers are arriving. The only silver lining is the age for this camp session - they are ten year olds - so they will eat less. But still 200 - that is a huge number.
Then it is the fall season with weekends off for the most part ... Hurray

Was looking over some postings on FB - postcard pages, when I got sidelined with a location I would like to visit. So the day dreaming, planning begins. I am off the last week of August. Last year Noni and I did a road trip to Yellowstone National Park. Noni doesn't like the long - long drives..
Money is a little more tight this year... And the Candian dollar is so low I want to stay in Canada, but I do want to do a road trip. Where to go? What to do?

Today is a camp change over day.. 110 campers left after breakfast - I fed 70 for lunch.. And then took off to town to visit Mom and check on mail at the condo. I must get back to cook supper for the 70 and then tomorrow lunch we have 185 once more for the week. Then after this the numbers drop for the last two weeks - I will get a week off - then the fall program begins and slowly I will get my life back. I will be feeding smaller group sizes, and most weekends off.. I can't wait! But this Camp Life is my career and I can't complain with being off for six months can I!

I am having a slight break.. Fed 130 hungry campers this morning and prepared 100 bag lunches. And then I drove to town and dropped the car off at the garage. On mom's birthday we took her a birthday cake in the afternoon and I got a flat tire. The tire is ruined.. I have all wheel drive and so I now must replace all four tires - two for sure - but all four because they are getting worn. While there at the garage doing a semi annual service and inspection.. Garage just called need something called a rotor and pads... Something is metal on metal and I'm told it needs to be repaired now..
Go ahead.. But I need the car back by 3:30 as I must return to work and cook supper. Today is BBQ day..
Delivery Truck is late .. It has been coming around 7 am .. Today I leave at 9:30 and no truck but I gave clear instructions to the new postion created this week to my dishwasher now front of house facilitator.
This position. Is a buffer between me and dishwashers - we are hiring one more person and having a rotating staff helper .. This facilitator will also be trained to serve some meals so I can have a break - ie - an afternoon and supper off occasionally - this is good if we have the right person.. Right now we do. A young 26 year old who is mature and responsible - and the owner after talking with me has made this transition .. And offered her a job next year if she wants to come back. Let's see how it works out..

Dalhouise likes air conditioners - he sits in front of our new one when we are at the condo.. And now in the car he get in between the seats and let's the cool air blow on him while driving with us. King Dalhouise is no fool of a dog.

So now I wait at home for the phone call telling me my car is ready and my visa is going to cry.

Two hundred hungry campers everyday for the last two weeks... I'm exhausted. It has been extremely hot. The thermometer read 36 / 40 c everyday as well. At least I have been drinking lots of water.
At night there has been no relief.. Hot and sticky. My wife even has allowed me to have a fan.. She hates fans - says they make her sick. I shower .. A few moments later I am just as sweaty as I was before the shower.. So my point is.. My sleeps have been restles, waking up uncomfortable and tired.
But today and tomorrow I am off.. Time to recharge - to get some needed recuperation.
So off to Vancouver we drive.. Stuck - dead stop both lanes of traffic as emergency crews deal with an accident. I hope no one dies.. But it seems very serious. 45 minutes late we are on our way.. At least it was overcast and 20 c as we sat on the highway waiting for the road to open.
We are heading to Vancouver to buy an air conditioner if we can find any. We do a couple of stops in large stores to be told they don't have any left.. Not looking good for success ..
We go to Costco - my membership has expired over a year ago - we are hopeful they might have an air conditioner - nope - but I did renew my membership and get a new credit card. And a hotdog.
Ok onto the mall. Final stop with not really much hope of finding an conditioner - surprise - surprise - we go into Sears and they have just received a shipment of them. We buy one..
Service sucked - but I have it and now I'm just waiting to turn it on.
( it was laid down in my car to get it home so we have to,wait three hours before I plug it in and turn it on.). It better work....
Oh we came home - sat it up,right - went out to eat supper..
Now I'm writing and resting..

So it begins .. Again.. Summer camp is about to start on Saturday and we have 200 registered.
20 will be leaving two days later to go on a canoe trip leaving me 180 to feed three meals every day. This is a large enough number to cause stress.. Where and the world am I going to store all this food.
Right now at 6:30 AM I am expecting the delivery truck. Over 8000$ in supplies are on their way. And this is most for four days, with a little carry over. I will be going to a three day delivery, more stress as I have to stay on top of inventory and cooking all this food / storage, and reordering. Yes I do it all my self ...
200 people wow... 180 people for days on end.. Spring groups usually only have 180 for a day or two at the most and then they leave and the next group is small so we can bounce back. Now there is no bouncing back just. More and more mouths to feed.. Food to order, food to store, food to cook...

21 days of work with no day off.. I am so ready for this weekend. But first I need to get through today. 85 people here for breakfast and lunch and 250 for a BBQ supper.
I hope to go to a movie, maybe find a geo cache or two, possibility of going to a bird sanctuary, and of course my wife wants to go to a mall to do some shopping.
Oh - my mother has been complaining so I must go visit her as well..
These are my weekend plans.
I hope you all are about to enjoy your weekend and have some rest too.

Stress no more for a few weeks... Today was our follow up health inspection. I had the kitchen, dish room, dish/ laundry room and my dey storage spotless. Two days of cleaning and wiping everything. It looked good - no it looked fantastic and we were feeding 100 people ( 230 people yesterday lunch) on top of that yesterday to boot..
She came and looked - then talked with me for two hours.. We have a couple of issues like a new cooler/ freezer unit to give me more dry storage space.
In my dry storage I have four freezers and so I need more storage space.. But the cooler is also at max capacity so just get me a new extra one. This won't happen this year but I can see it happening for next year..
Talked about my salad bar .. She doesn't like salad bars... But after our talk we have solutions that makes her a little more acceptable to ours..
She might come back this fall only for a check in..
Two hours - this is my longest time ever spent with a health inspector..
Secretly maybe she was trying to catch me..

So Sunday was an off day. I haven't any more of these for three weeks I think.. If I hear correct the next three weekends have bookings and this means I am working.
So on my last off day we / Noni and I made the most of it.
Church - a little hike at Brandywine Falls - a long stroll window shopping in Whistler and an enjoyable supper at the Keg on the third floor patio.
Even though it was only one day it felt like a whole weekend : yet not to busy to tire us out.

Thus ended the date with Noni.
No not yet - we stopped in to say hi to my Mom then it was time to go back to camp and spend time with the Dalhouise. I had to leave him home as I knew we would be going in and out of stores and eating out.. He was a happy pooch when we got home - you would think we left him for weeks or something...

day's end and now I can have a rest with the family

So on the BBQ I cooked hotdogs and beef burgers and some chicken. In the oven I baked vegi dogs and vegi burgers.
Salad bar had about 40 items on it. Such as toss salad, spinach salad, potato salad, pasta with tuna, pasta salad, couscous, bean salad and there was a few more. We had sliced tomatoes, cucumbers, cheese, - oh I can't remember all we had lots to choose from.
I also placed out some tomato soup, and navy bean soup and a insert of fried rice.

Like I said the owner is happy.. All the guess we're very satisfied.
Even before I began cooking I had people coming up to me. Marvelling at the aroma of charcoal whisping around the camp. People were surprised it was not gas but a real BBQ ..
My point exactly to the owner later.. I think he thought I could not BBQ for this many and long.. Two hours out there in the sun and waves of heat from the BBQ and the sun - I loved every moment .. And the food was a success too

Saddle sore, but feeling engergzed. Putting on my cool looking mirror sunglasses I hop onto my bike saddle and head out the gate. Construction.. Half the road is missing and the other half is cracked and pot holed. But it is sunny, and I have supper all prepared (lasagna) so I have time to go for a long bike ride. We - my wife and I drive the four miles to the single lane bridge, ah we keep going to the four mile / eight mile viewing spot along the river bank. Do I stop? No even though this is the furthest we have ever gone on this road. We keep going and going to we reach some houses... We come to the house with the huge yellow smiley face hanging on a tree. This is where cell overage ends when leaving town towards the camp.
At this point we turn around. I am not sure what way the wind is blowing. I thought we were facing it but as we return back home it still feels like we are facing it, it is becoming more difficult to make those peddles go round and round.. Are we going up hill? It looks flat and when driving the car I never notice a difference in engine sounds.
I now and then look up to admire the mountain being swallowed by a cloud - just majestic.
I notice the wild roses in bloom as I coast on past splattering the brush along side the road with pink blossoms - not to mention the wild berries that are still in flowering mode.
We are well past the construction zone and I only hear the wind in my ears and the chirping of birds. I must make time to to do this again, but not today as I seem to have sat a little too much on that tiny little seat.

Dalhouise is not a happy camper today.. But I don't care! It is for his own good even though he doesn't understand.
Ring - ring - ring.. Our neighbour phones us.. His dog was killed last night by a cougar. He is phoning to let us know to keep our dogs tied or in the house as this large cougar is hanging around the area - also we must be aware to make sure none of our campers are wandering alone either - safety...
anyways I pick up Dalhouise and carry him back inside the cabin. Later in the morning I go get him and fasten him to the chains I have. One of the staff replied that they have never seen him tied up before.. I replied. It happens now and then. I have one at the cabin entrance and one at the entrance to the dining tent, just for occasions like today. The one by e cabin does get used more often in the middle of the night if Dalhouise decides to wake me up to go outside because I don't want him eaten..
So now he is sitting with me on the swing tied.. I guess this OK .. He is happy to be sitting with me.. ** I am off now - it is the weekend.. Hurray

I don't understand why the May 24 weekend is a week before the 24th. I remember in my youth going to the cottage on this long weekend - this is opening season for most cottages and trailers and for planting the gardens.. Not now.. Middle of the month is just to early.. Cold rains, possiblity of snow still looms heavy.. I think the government should change it back to the May 24th. And keep it there.
I did have a good day yesterday. I walked around the Boundary trail, sat by the pond spotting some birds and relaxing, sat on the swing with my pooch Dalhouse, rode my bike to the beach with my wife, watched a movie on TV, had a nap and I let my wife cut my hair.
I think that covers everything ...
Now today... It is pouring rain right now.. Sounds pleasant as it hits the tin cabin roof, and pours off onto the ground. Looks nice too as I peek out the windows and see rain falling unto green tree leaves. I think today another restful, napping afternoon is in store for me. This morning we will drive into town to attend church - have a stop to visit my mother at the nursing home. That might be a little stressful.. Depending on her mood.

Deliver came - delivery came around 8:30 ish we were just finishing breakfast. So all my stress and anxiety was not needed... But I will make sure I stock pile enough food to the future to cover delivery days. Last year we had nothing but issues with them coming late in the afternoon many times, I was told this issue was solve... Sales people are liars.

Today if it is not raining the plan is to rest,do some easy hiking and or do some cycling, keep an eye open for any bears wandering along the road and hopefully see some birds and get a picture of these. Most importantly not to be ran over by any crazy speeding intoxicated car drivers.
Long weekend is here... Hurray.. Pay day was yesterday, I am off for three whole days. I usually fill theses days up with activities - but so far I have no plans other than the above mentioned

Good morning - kind of..
I had a stressful night worried about today's delivery. My lunch ingredients are on that truck.
The truck until last delivery has been arriving around 630 - 8 AM perfect timing. Last delivery truck arrived 12:30 just after guess sat down to eat lunch. I am to be dropped numbers 1- 5 to get here early - I was drop number 9.
What to do if it is late?
I can change menu from perogies to Mac and cheese... So we can feed the 115 people..
Supper is here.. Turkey dinner
Tomorrow's breakfast is here
Tomorrow's lunch I can impervise ..
So should I just refuse this order if it comes late and reorder everything for next Tuesday? .
Long weekend OFF ...???
