Thanks, Suzy. Sometimes, I believe it's easier for me to visualize myself back to a healthy weight than those who have struggled with weight issues all their lives, simply because I have a healthy image of myself. But regardless of that we all have our struggles with this or we wouldn't be looking for a site such as SP.
Have a good day!

For me the weight came on fast and furious after an accident that limited my mobility. So much time and energy was needed just to learn how to walk again that I didn't care about the weight. Sure it bothered me that I jumped up 90 pounds in less than a year, but I knew it was because I wasn't exercising beyound physio. The restrictions that injury put on my life was much harder to deal with than the weight (so I thought at the time.) The weight became an issue when I began to struggle with breathing after walking from one room to the next and digestive problems were increasing. That spurred me on to loose weight before it was too late.

I lost 45 pounds felt great, and returned to my old lazy habits. I gained back 25 of those pounds and the digestive problems returned. So, for my health I am back here and determined to get fit for life.

I would have to say my moment of impct had to be more of a physical one. I had been Sparking for a few months, tracking and logging, but my eating had been crazy. I managed to get down the 'only eat when physically hungry' part but my hunger was every hour to two hours! I wasnt exercising anything crazy, and prob not very consistent at all. I was worried something was wrong with my physically. The doc did a work up on my bloodwork and my sugal levels came up borderline pre-diabetic and thyroid came back normal. That started my search for a healthier way to eat to head off diabetes. After I discovered the idea of balancing out my carbs thru out the day, I added cardio to the mix and have been goin strong! I would def say that my metabolism/body actin all weird, wanting to eat every hour/2 hrs was DEFINITELY my moment of impact! I could have ignored it and let it spiral outta control, but that event made me turn my life around.

I've never seen it! Is this the one that has to do with butterflies and tidal waves? Or is my daughter setting me up to look silly?

My moments are so convoluted, I don't know if they happened in high school 30 years ago over a pack of Dexatrim (when I weighed nothing, but stopped eating as I thought I was fat), or three years ago when I found out I have a thyroid problem (no doubt courtesy of said Dexatrim and years of followon 'miracle cures', a la patches and Metabolife...) In any case I think my head is in order now and I am happy to be losing weight via lifestyle rather than crash-fad-diet!

Hang in there with me...it's a tough change to make! And I've been crash-fad-dieting a LONG TIME!!! I totally need support!

Awwwwwwwwwww that's so cute that you watched that! I did, too! On Mother's Day! My husband gave in and watched it with me. LOL I was SO moved when he started talking about that, too. I was like "Man, that's so true!" (I said that out loud and my husband thought I was crazy.. or was reminded that I am.. lol).

Every time a big change takes place in your life it's usually because something huge happened that throws you for a tailspin. That has happened to me a few times in life and they drastically changed my path, not always for the better, but always because it was meant to be.

The "moment of impact" that kicked off my journey was when my son asked me to play one day and I put him off over and over and I looked out the window and saw him sitting outside looking sad because I was too lazy to get off my butt and do something with him. I decided, right then, that I had to do something.

Now I'm playing with him ALL the time (including right now, we are heading out to play basketball! YAY!) and getting my sexy on daily :) YAY! I feel so much better. I loved that moment of impact. Great topic!!

It was most definitely seeing a pic of myself. I wanted to vomit. I made up my mind then I would not be like this forever.

Wow! I love that! Not sure, though, that I can pinpoint that moment. I'd been putting off dieting and exercising for several years and convinced myself I was too 'old' to look sexy anymore. Then my best friend's husband and I were chatting on facebook one night and somehow got on the weight loss thing (my girlfriend has fought her weight her entire life) and we decided to make a bet. I lost by a couple of pounds, but by then, I was on a roll. I started out hoping to lose 20 pounds and I've lost 45!! Guess that was my moment of impact - that bet started me on my way to being sexy again and now I don't want to go back to the overweight old lady that I was!

Over the weekend I watched the movie "the vow" (don't judge lol) and actually there was something in the movie that really struck home with me. The movie talks about a moment of impact and how those individual moments can spark life in any direction.

The exact quote is this:
The moment of impact. The moment of impact proves potential for change. Has ripples effects far beyond what we can predict. Sending some particles crashing together. Making them closer than before. While sending others spinning off into great ventures. Landing them where you've never thought you've found them. That's the thing about moments like these. You can't, no matter how hard you try, controlling how it's gonna affect you. You just gotta let the colliding part goes where they may. And wait. For the next collision.

What in your life is a moment of impact, if you can pinpoint your life or pinpoint one moment that really started your journey on weight loss, started your journey on of feeling sexy. Please share your moments!
