You should make sure that your calorie intake is high enough for the amount of exercises that you do.
I know when I exercises more then planed, I tend to eat more and if my snacks are not planed out i reach for anything that will fill me up. which usually means ' junk food'.
and I to still do the reach for comfort food syndrome. But the good news is that you are now aware of this and can actually do something about it. Don't give up, your doing great!!!
