When I gain weight, I cut to very low carb for the whole day to see if that will get it off.

I also do things like have 1 tablespoon of PB verses 2. or 1/2 c yogurt verses 3/4.

I really make sure I exercise that day and drink lots of water.

You should ask your doctor about your cal intake VS your exercises.emoticon

Maybe changing your exercises would help, your body might also be getting used to what its doing.

I know... I tend to gain if I eat more though. I checked and sites differ on the BMR calculation they range from a Basal Mretabolic rate of about 1700 to about 2100 a day.

I changed back to 1700 as my upper today. I was on about 1700 the entire time I was losing weight. Maybe I need to just stick with that while I am exercising this hard.

My metabolism is slowed due to a Beta blocker heart med too. So I may need to eat a little less calories. I plan to ask my doc about that.

OMG!!! you are eating 1500 cal and burning 500-900 !!! No wonder you are eating like crazy. and not losing your putting your body into starvation mode.
If you burn an average of 700 cal during exercise, than your daily cal intake should be 2100 per day.
that way out of 2100 - 700 = 1400. Which is still 100 cal under your 1500 allowed.emoticon

I think you are right. Since I have started exercising more the last 2 weeks it has been harder to stay under 1500 calories. Since I burn 500-900 calories in a workout I must be hungry!

I upped my calorie range today and will see how I feel. Today should be a rest day so I will aim for the lower end of my new range. I will try this for a week or two. i was not losing on this range before but I was not exercising as hard either.emoticon

You should make sure that your calorie intake is high enough for the amount of exercises that you do.

I know when I exercises more then planed, I tend to eat more and if my snacks are not planed out i reach for anything that will fill me up. which usually means ' junk food'.

and I to still do the reach for comfort food syndrome. But the good news is that you are now aware of this and can actually do something about it. Don't give up, your doing great!!!emoticonemoticonemoticon

I hope you are right. I gained again this morning. Maybe when the water leaves it will take some fat with it!

I get discouraged lately then I eat. Which is a habbit I thought I broke. I am slipping back into using food and I don't know why. Maybe today I will think about it more...

Some times its not a gain per say, we often retain water due to a high sodium intake. I don't know about you but for me it happens often emoticon

I am currently up right now. I am crossing my fingers it goes away. I am exercising hard and need to catch a break!

I do need to learn how to deal with gains. It happens and I need to learn coping stratigies.

Maybe take an extra walk? Eat some new healthy foods. Anything to get my mind off the gains.

I pinpoint what I did that I shouldn't have done that caused the weight gain. I have yet to gain weight for no apparent reason..... Then, I stop that behavior, or at least try to stop... sometimes it is very difficult.emoticonNext, I add a little bit more intensity to my exercise, or I add a few minutes. My main goal is to get those gained pounds back off ASAP. I may be doing these things tomorrow, as it is my weigh in day, and I am not having a real good feeling this week.emoticon

good question!

Lately I was feeling sorry for myself. But now I am adding more exercise when I gain. I figure the extra calorie burn will help. It is a difficult thing seeing the scale go up for me.

I'll cut back drastically on the sodium. I retain fluid badly and my weight can go up 5-7 lbs overnight just from excess fluid, so if I see it heading in the wrong direction I eat foods very low in sodium for a day or two.

What do you do when you realize that you have gain weight?

I for one freak out. I don't go crazy, but I will let out a small scream as I look at the scale...loll
But after I sit down and realize that its my fault ( I should have eaten that extra dessert or I shouldn't have put off all those exercises)
