I used to try to run with music to keep myself entertained, but I found that it was more distracting, which was a good thing at first because it kept me from constantly checking my time/distance. Now I like to just absorb my surroundings and enjoy the beauty (sometimes hidden) of the course I'm running or like Doral33178 said be refreshed by the sound of my breathing and footfalls on the path. It's so peaceful & it steadies me.
