plus it can give you your %age of body fat too which is another tool I use to see if I am doing good. I love losing body fat because that means muscle is taking its place.
I would definitely go by what SparkPeople is telling you to eat. I would also keep track for one week how many calories you are burning with your treadmill workouts. Do you wear a heart rate monitor? I wear one with each workout I am doing so I have an accurate number of the calories I am burning to make sure my calories are on track.
I do not know it all but I am quite knowledgeable when it comes to weight loss (I am studying to be a personal trainer)
