Can anyone recommend any foods that are high in potassium? Every day my Nutrition tracker tells me that I'm not meeting my range. I already know about bananas, apricots, diet tonic water, and potatoes. Any other ideas?
Thanks!

I found a class, it is different than the kind I have been taking but I can attend the class.

Tai Chi is wonderful. It's hard to believe that something can be so relaxing and energizing at the same time!

I had a lot of company this summer and while I did not gain any weight I am still looking for little ways to fit in small amounts of exercise.. so just for today I am going to my back yard while it is cool and do the Tai Chi exercises that are recommended in my chronic pain clinic.

LAOCHIN - do you have 10 minutes you can do some activity (like walking) 3 times a week? You don't have to do hours of exercise all at one time.
This article might give you some ideas. Not all will work for you but maybe one of them?

I can identify with the no time and little sleep.
I think working out Saturday and Sunday is a great start. Just try to do different types of exercise each day.
I successfully lost weight when my daughter was a baby by jumping rope, either outside or in the garage or basement. I worked up very gradually to be able to jump for 15 minutes straight. This might be something you could fit in morning or night on a weekday. Of course there are always exercise DVDs.
Another idea: sometimes the YMCA offers babysitting for some of their classes. If they do, sign up for a class one night a week. It's more fun to workout with other people and then you've actually made a commitment.
Good luck!
Cheryl

I really have no time during the week to workout .... Commute to work and a one ye old to look after... Surviving on about 6 hrs of sleep.

It's not ideal but is it ok to only workout at the weekends?

Here's a list I sent out in the Spark email that may help you:

Here are 40 things you can do (or think about) to get your workout motivation back—and get moving.

Coach Nicole

"When I don't feel like working out, I ___."

1. Do it anyway. (This was the most popular answer!)
2. Tell myself to go for 15 minutes. If I still feel bad or unmotivated, I can quit. I have yet to quit.
3. Look on Pinterest for motivation! (Check out Pinterest's Fitness section and follow SparkPeople's Pinterest boards.)
4. Ask a friend along to the workout it helps us both with accountability.
5. Do a heavy house cleaning (vacuuming, moving furniture, scrubbing) so I have a reason to work out.
6. Watch a Crossfit video on YouTube. It always inspires me. Then I get it done.
7. Take a 10-minute brisk walk.
8. Take the dog for a long walk.
9. Force myself anyway and feel better for it.
10. Go to a yoga class. It gets me moving, and I always have fun!
11. I sit by myself for a few minutes and think about all the things I can't enjoy because of my poor health.
12. Sometimes I find myself doing it just to get my fitness minutes for the month. Proof that SparkPeople works!
13. Work out anyway…then bask in the awesomeness!
14. Find something new to do! If you run then go for a swim or a bike ride. Maybe you are getting bored with the same routine.
15. Complain about not feeling motivated, then go do it, since I don't like hearing myself complain.
16. I drag myself to the gym anyway. Before I realize it, an hour is passed and I'm glad I went.
17. Post about your lack of motivation on Facebook, and get chewed out.
18. Do it anyway because this is for me.
19. Try to force myself to just do something for 1 minute (jumping jacks, squats, etc.). But usually I tell myself I will be happier that I did it instead of mad at myself for not doing anything.
20. Put on my work out clothes, lace up my shoes and go for a walk. Once I'm out and moving I find my motivation.
21. Do a SparkPeople workout video! They are always great workouts and I love that they are not super hard and complicated!
22. Remember a time when I couldn't work out, and how sad I was when I was heavier, and how I don't want to feel sad again!
23. Listen to some music—something with energy that I like. It's funny how the right music can make you move even when you think you don't want to, and it usually provides a mood boost, too (which is probably why I didn't want to workout in the first place).
24. Put my feelings aside and use logic and reasoning. My feelings then change after a good workout.
25. Follow an "easy" DVD and tell myself I'll do just one part of it. I end up doing it all usually.
26. Put on my workout clothes!
27. Do a workout at home instead of going to the gym.
28. Remind myself why I started working out and how much better I feel and feel about myself when I am done!
29. Do it anyway, just not as long.
30. Remember how easy it is to loss fitness even after missing a few sessions.
31. Put on my workout clothes first thing in the morning. Once I'm in them there's no reason to not work out!
32. Remind myself of one of Gods promises in Philippians 4:13, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”
33. Think how good I feel after a workout! Nothing else gives me that same feeling!
34. Go bowling.
35. I go get my small weights and start toning up.
36. Do something light and slow, like yoga.
37. Start working out anyway, and then, I figure I've already started, so I may as well finish STRONG!
38. Put on dance music and move!
39. Call a friend to encourage me.
40. Think of all the people who can't and I go do it and am grateful that I CAN.

There are a lot of things in life that we should do but don't always feel like doing. For many, exercise is one of those things. But the only way to make it a habit is to do it—consistently. So next time you don't feel like it, make like these strong-willed SparkPeople members and do it—or something—anyway. Just get yourself moving, even if it's light and easy, and even if it's only for a few minutes. You'll be glad you did!

CREATIVNAME (love that name, by the way) - Sometimes we need to give our bodies some rest! Not telling you to make excuses, but working out everyday will wear us out and that may be one of the reasons you're feeling tired and unmotivated today. Maybe an easy walk will help? I also find dancing around the apartment is good way to get in exercise. :P

I need some motivation to work out today, I have worked out every day since Wednesday and can't seem to get myself off the couch to go outside and do it. I was thinking of switching things up and not going to the gym and walking my dog instead, but I am really tired. I made a mistake and read until 2 in the morning last night, and I have no energy at all. I seem to be full of excuses right now.

Courtney - actually mixing up your meals is a great way to keep your metabolism on its toes! I use that when I hit a plateau and it seems to help.

ALISHAFISH1 - GREAT job on that power walk! You are on a roll to success!

Took my 2mile walk early this morning before it got hot. I ate a small chicken leg for breakfast. I know it sounds weird, but I was craving chicken and we had one left over from last night so..I tracked it though. had 47g of protein and only 187 cals. So I guess it was a pretty good breakfast after all. Not something I would do everyday, obviously, but this one time wasn't bad. And actually I can use the protein!! Doing more deep cleaning today too cuz mom and daughter may be coming up next week to visit. ugh..kind of a complicated relationship with mom. Love my daughter to death but mom...we kind of agree to disagree but I have to make the house spotless and up to her standards. We all know how that goes. Hope everyone has a great day!

Sounds like you're doing well, Courtney! My biggest problem is eating too many fatty foods. I love using the nutrition tracker --- I didn't realize how helpful it was and how much more focused I am on eating less fatty foods!

Morning all--
I was so happy I stayed within all my ranges. My protein was still low but in range. and fats were done so I was happy and those stupid carbs I love so much were right in the middle of my range so I was ok with that. Got my walk in so I was happy about that. Not much else new over here.
How is everyone else doing?

Courtney,
That must have been one heck of a pee....hahaha
Just thought of another idea to save on carbs.. I got the idea from Hardees a while back.. rather than put your meat on a bun put it in between 2 pieces of romaine lettuce. Kinda like eating your sandwich inside out..I think they do that on the Southbeach diet too..Any how.. hope you had a good day.. Talk at ya later...:-) Brenda (Molly is my dog.. lol)

Weird.. I seem to have the opposite problem.. ever since I started I can't get enough carbs into my body and I always have almost all of my protein. I have been trying to figure out how to get more carbs in without upping my calories or fat.. can't seem to get it right yet. And I seem hungry about an hour after I eat any meal (except breakfast).

Thanks Molly! I've done hardboiled eggs and yep they are one of my go tos. Yesterday, my carbs were in the middle and protein was in range but still a little low but at least within range. I've decided today I'm going to have a protein shake for lunch and a tuna salad (no bread) for a snack.

Question--I weighed in yesterday--no change.
I weighed in today(same spot, same time, same clothes, after pee) and it said I lost 5lbs. I stepped on 3 times just to be sure and got same reading. Could it be true? Prob water weight, right? I can't possibly have lost 5lbs of fat in one day, right? I logged it cuz I got same read 3 times. I did feel a bit "light" so I was curious.

Well, neck and back pain are pretty non existant today. I walked 1 mile yesterday and had to listen to my back tell me to stop--too much. I got the shot in my spine and I'm usually sore for 2 days. Today I should be able to do 2 miles. I'm going to give it my best shot.

Hope to hear from u all later. Any advice on the weight loss is greatly appreciated.

Hey Courtney!
I think it's great that's you're back on track!! Way to go!! I've been eating these little single servings of 2% cottage cheese in the mornings @ work.. with a fresh tomato or some fruit. I don't normally care for cottage cheese but these little Breakstone things are pretty good. ( 90 calories,2.5 g fat,11 g protein , 6 g carbs ... only 2 points if you've ever tried WW) Do you like hard boiled eggs? That's an easy on the go morning food.
It's an uphill battle but I KNOW you can do it.. and we're all here to help one another along the way! Brenda

Thanks Krys! It feels more sore than anything, but yesterday I was running around with my nieces and it didn't hurt at all, so I think I'll just take it easy at first and go from there!

It was my birthday this past Sunday so now I'm recovering. I actually didn't eat too badly (it could have been better, it could have been worse). Going to get back on the right track! Unfortunately I hurt my knee this past Saturday night (I displaced my knee cap a couple of years ago and my knee has never been the same since). Any advice on whether I should exercise with a knee that is not 100% there?

COURTNEY055 - are you using the nutrition tracker? It lets you see how much carbs, fats, calories, etc. you are using. Great way to keep track. Also, Spark has a wonderful meal planner that might be of help to you.

morning all--

I've actually been on SP since April but my page somehow got lost and I can't log into it. So, I had to start all over. Ugh..I lost 3 months worth of stuff but better than 3 years, right?

I do have some advice if anyone needs it. I have managed to lose and I have gained since being on but it was no ones fault but my own. I'm back on the losing track, though.

The problem I have is with carbs. I try to stay in ranges and I do but they're always on the high end and protein is always on the low end. I'm trying to change that but for some reason, I just find myself craving those carbs. Any ideas on how I can switch that up and get more protein? I've been snacking on peanut butter crackers but I have to watch the fat. I do eat fruits but need more veggies.

So, hope all is well with everyone and best of luck on your journey!! U can do it!!

Glad to have you here DAOCCHICA and SHYTHUGETTE. Sounds like you both have some good plans. Research has shown that exercise along or just healthy eating alone don't do as well as doing them together. Please keep this in mind as you formulate your goals.

Hi! I am new also.. just figuring out the website.. what an awesome way to help every one trying to stay healthy! Today was the first day of exercise and eating healthy for me. Making it a lifestyle change that is long overdue (about 29 years!). I have set a goal of 100 pounds to lose by the time I hit 30. Today is the first day of the rest of my life!

“The beauty of a woman is not in the clothes she wears, the figure that she carries, or the way she combs her hair. The beauty of a woman is seen in her eyes, because that is the doorway to her heart, the place where love resides. True beauty in a woman is reflected in her soul. It's the caring that she lovingly gives, the passion that she shows & the beauty of a woman only grows with passing years.” Audrey Hepburn

Hi! My main goal is to achieve a healthy body and lead a happy and long life. I realized that I can't do that by lounging around all day eating everything in sight. Another big goal of mine is to join the local roller derby, and in order to do that I need to get into better shape! I think it's going to be a difficult process but it will be worth it in the end!

TAMMYLOCKHART1 - looking forward to that day is a great motivator!

TAJMAHAL2 - motivation comes in all sizes and shapes. What motivates you?

LAOCHIN - all the pictures I've seen of Ireland look breath taking beautiful. The economy is not that great anywhere, in my opinion. I live in Columbus, Georgia, USA.
