I am trying to avoid the major goodies, but I do allow myself to have a few pieces of chocolate so I don't feel like I am depriving myself. I can't have a lot of chocolate in the house, but I did buy a small package. I am also sharing it with my sis.

I am also trying to find new recipes to try that will satisfy my cravings without going overboard.

I like to play board games but sis doesn't. boo! I guess I will resort to my computer games somewhat. I don't usually eat when I am on my computer.

What sort of plans do you have?

We have traditional family fare each year, turkey, ham, dressing, mashed potatoes, cranberries, broccoli casserole, eggplant casserole, corn bread casserole, green beans or grilled asparagus, salad, dinner rolls.... In other words, way too much food! For dessert, pumpkin pie, pecan pie, cheesecake....That's what my sis,Kath, likes though. I try to tell her to scale it down, but she won't do it.

My sis, Betty, and I had a smoked turkey 2 days ago with mashed potatoes, gravy, green beans, and cranberries. Today, I fixed red lentil soup with the turkey as the leftover smoked turkey tasted a lot like ham! Tomorrow, we have enough homemade "pot liquor" to fix a pinto bean soup. (I simmered the turkey carcass for 1 hour with water, chopped celery, a quartered onion, baby carrots, and 2 bay leaves to make the pot liquor.) Delish! It is our pre-thanksgiving meal. I do a lot better in terms of still losing weight when I cook my own food. I'll just have to try not to eat too much at my other sister's house! lol!

Good morning! Normally my family plans the menu about a month in advance as we plan who is bringing what. However, this year I'm having Thanksgiving with my bf's family and I do not have a clue what they have.

Hi - It's been far too long since I have posted here and I thought I better get back into the swing of things.
I hope all my US team mates are getting into the spirit of Thanksgiving. In Canada we celebrate Thanksgiving on the second Monday in October, so my Thanksgiving has come and gone.
I live very close to the Washington state border (about 5 miles away) so we get a lot of advertising and news about your Thanksgiving. In some ways it often seems like we have two Thanksgivings. Do you have your menus planned in advance? Will you be having a traditional turkey dinner? I bet it will be delicious.

Start making more Christmas Gift tags
Finish off some knitting for my charities
Sort out pictures for my Affirmation Journal
Make a cloth for the table that the Christmas tree will stand on
Sort out things for the Christmas wreath we are going to make

I saw a wonderful series of ATCs online where the artist had done a quilting square and then stitched little chickens on it. It was pretty cute. It just goes to show that you can use just about anything for an Artist Trading Card.

So what other projects are you working on? This can be any type of art, including knitting, needlepoint, quilting, etc. This is all about the creative process and what we like to do! Even gardening fits the bill!
