CROOKEDPIER,thanks so much, found it ..........has some really helpful information there.........lita

“There's a difference between interest and commitment. When you're interested in doing something, you do it only when it's convenient. When you're committed to something, you accept no excuses; only results.”

When you get to a plateau, think of it as a landing on the stairway to your goal. And maintenance is a lifelong plateau, so a bit of "rehearsal" for maintenance isn't the worst thing in the world

The web site is www.prevention.com. There are some drop down menues to help you - click on walking and you should be able to find it. Good luck. Let me know if you cannot find it and I will try to be more specific.

Gosh I can so related. Each vacation puts me into a slump. And getting closer to my goal actually DECREASES my motivation for some reason. I don't know why. (Of course, some of it is the continued snide little comments from peers - but most of it is just me wanting to eat cookies and sit on my butt!!)

So I empathize!! All I can say is this - you are SO close. Pull out your size (whatever) jeans and remember that you are going to be wearing them this fall - not some fall in the future. So get going. I will if you will!

Of course, I do have cookies in the oven, but I'll make a deal with you. I won't even try them - really - if you keep one of your goals today. Deal?? I'll give them ALL to my husband (skinny jerk that he is - ha!) and my kiddos.

Good luck!!!

Sharrie, I feel like I'm the queen of yo-yoing and losing motivation...but one of the most helpful things I heard was to start your day new. Don't worry about yesterday, that happened, but today is a whole new day. Just like what was posted before, start with one of your goals such as logging in food. You'll get back into your groove! Don't be discouraged! emoticon

Sharrie-

Try setting small mini-goals to work back up to where you were.

Are you logging all your food? If not, that's a great mini-goal -- log everything you eat for a week. Don't worry about calories or anything just log. If exercise is the issue, how about a goal of 10 min cardio per day?

Make the goals something small that you *can* do but currently aren't. Once you start working your way back to your good habits through small goals often the big goals follow.

The Prevention web site has training suggestions for walking a marathon. Sharri, look at today as the first day of your healthy eating plan. Try not to look back (except for the learned experiences, of course), but keep focusing forward! You CAN do this! emoticon

Thank you very much. I am trying to take it one day at a time. Your thoughts were helpful and hopefully I will just keep on trying everyday. I have a 5K race that I am planning for my patients and hope that I can get down a few pounds before then. (oct 6) We will see.
Thank you,
Sharrie

I am not happy with my weight at all or my size. I usually feel better when I am in the lower 130s. I was at 138 in July and here I am back to 143. I am so frustrated with myself.

Just take it as a slip. Don't get discouraged. I'm sure all of us would mess up a little or a lot on vacation. Just expect that it may happen. Go back to what you were doing previously. If it was working then it will work again. You just took a break and its hard to judge calorids whan you are not making it.
My rule is that if it is not on a single layer on a 9"plate Judge accordinly don;t eat the excess. Just some of each.

hi Sharrie, not sure how to advice you since i dont know that much about you or why you lost motivation. Are you sure you might just be at your proper weight and your goal wasnt realistic. Some people go by the figure on the scale instead of how they feel, how do you feel at your weight, actually never might the weight, how do you feel the size that you are.

Not sure what is going on, but I have not been motivated for quite some time. It seems like since my cruise and having not met my goal, I have almost, not all the way, but almost given up. I have barely worked out, not like I used to anyway. Not eating as well as I did. Not sure how to get it back. Please advise.
