I wanted to share a new recipe that was given to me today for PROTEIN SNACK BARS:

1 jar NATURAL PEANUT BUTTER
1 C. HONEY
MELT TOGETHER

2 1/4 C. Arbonne Figure 8 Protein (I use chocolate)
3 C oatmeal

mix the PB mixture with oats and protein, spread in 9 x 12 pan, refrigerate.

My kids and husband went crazy.

Make 24 servings:
With the Arbonne protein you get about 9 grams fat, 13 grams protein, 24 carbs with this recipe. It compares very well with other bars and this one does not have artificial sweetners and added preservatives. Plus they taste like a REAL TREAT.
if you have questions on protein go to www.jennifertitzer.myarbonne.com

Yes, I am a registered dietitian, so I KNOW he is giving out misleading information. The glycemic index has a lot of glitches in it. That is my dilemma, how to go about dealing with this.

A bananna as bad as a snickers bar?????? My friend and her husband both have PHD's in Nutrician and One works at McMaster Hospital dealing with weight issues on both ends of the spectrum. Her husband works for the University in research. I'm seeing them this weekend. I'll ask but I'm sure your professional is incorrect. I'm just a social worker but have had medical problem due to weight loss and was seeing a dietician for over a year.

I feel your frustration. I get on my soap box a lot when it comes to wellness issues. My new one is the danger of most of the personal care and baby products on the market. Have you seen the new study released in April? Oh my, it is scary and I think everyone needs to know. You probably feel the same way about diet. It doesn't make you bad or pushy, but it shows you just care and want to help others. More people should be like you.

Yes, I could do that. And I probably should mind my own business because people can get diets from anyone, magazines, friends, internet....it just bothers me soooo much when I hear stuff like that going on. That is one of the reasons I stopped going to Curves. I got bored with it, but also, they were doing "diet classes" and it was pretty much the Adkins diet and it killed me to hear the ladies talking about it while I was working out. I kept my mouth shut but it was hard and it really ate at me!!

This is so common. My mom was told as a diabetic that it was okay to drink a coke or eat a snickers as long as she didn't eat anything else with it because then she would have too many carbs!!!!!! I really worry about the info that these people give out. I was told by an MD to not eat bananas, but to use an artificial flavor of banana. I looked at the chemicals in the artificial flavoring and decided I would rather eat the banana. I would love to network with you. I am a wellness coach, but not an expert on nutrition. I read as much as I can and believe in a balanced diet with a lot of fruits and veggies. I do not like fanatic trend diets. What do you recommend as a guide? Are you using the new pyramid?

well that a rough one. I would suggest you mind your own business. People when they talk to him and he tells them such nonsense about the banana will have more common sense then that. As for your dieticien services, especially since its a conflct of interest, i would try to get referals through drs. instead. However if you go to the gym to exercise have some business cards handy and try to stick up conversations with people, however i am not sure if the later advice is allowed.

We are in a small rural county and today I just learned a fitness center has opened in the county! We have had Curves for a couple years, but we needed something coed with more variety. So, I'm really excited but, I went to talk with the owner thinking, I'm a dietitian, he's got a fitness center and we can really work together and bounce referrals back and forth. He seemed very cooperative but he also mentioned that he gives people free diets based on the glycemic index. My husband went this evening and he told him a banana was just as bad as a King size Snickers! So, I love the fitness idea, but really worried about him giving out nutrition advice when he is not qualified. Any suggestions for how I should handle this? I thought about going back with a flyer advertising my nutrition services and asking for a gym flyer so we could swap and help each other out....so in a roundabout way, telling him I am qualified, certified and licensed to counsel on nutrition. I also want to take him some information on why the glycemic index isn't all its cracked up to be. Suggestions? And I can't offer my services there because it is a conflict of interest to where I work. I can only try to get referrals.
