Two thumbs HEARTILY UP for that! re: "the essential mission gets lost in the shuffle and the total focus becomes profit. For me, the heart of the problem is that we define success in America by $$$$$$$ and power."
So many in our country really need to re-think their priorities and consider what it is in life that is of true and intrinsic value!

Pollan just tells it like it is. My husband is a "corporate" farmer, and he reads and agrees with Pollan. The mistake people make is thinking the transition to a safer food supply will be easy. I guess it seems that way when you are asking someone else to take all the risks and financial liabilities. It's a culture that certainly needs to be changed, much like our healthcare culture. In my opinion (and we all know what that's worth) when big business drives the decision making of any industry, the essential mission gets lost in the shuffle and the total focus becomes profit. For me, the heart of the problem is that we define success in America by $$$$$$$ and power.

There's a difference between interest and commitment. When you're interested in doing something, you do it only when it's convenient. When you're committed to something, you accept no excuses; only results.
When you get to a plateau, think of it as a landing on the stairway to your goal. And maintenance is a lifelong plateau, so a bit of "rehearsal" for maintenance isn't the worst thing in the world
