Hey Mindy. I am a mental health counselor. LPCC in KY. The field is one that I love. I also work with the chronically mentally ill. It is such a challenge and such a reward. Best of luck Buddy.

I work in distant countries to my home, with different people. It is not already easy, but it is my election of life. Sometimes the stress of the context and the solitude, they make me forget my proposition to take habits of healthy life Today I will begin to write, and why not? some yoga thank you

What kind of activities have you found help you to unwind, relax, recharge your batteries? Ask people who know you well if they can help you brainstorm as long a list as possible of these types of activities and write it up, keeping a copy of the list handy wherever you are so you can refer to it and follow through on using these activities to de-stress.
One of the simplest stress busters I can think of is to focus on one's breathing and to slow and deepen our breathing. When we are stressed, often our breathing becomes rapid and shallow. There is something very empowering that occurs when we hop in the driver's seat and take control of something such as how we choose to breath.
I often burn up stress with physical outlets...such as "putting it on the 'mill" if I am worked up about something...I walk it off!
HOw about some other ideas out there, folks?

WooHooo Mindy !! Good for you on kicking the cigarette habit! I'm proud of your efforts & hard work to change your lifestyle in both nutrition/exercise & stopping smoking.
It can be really hard to quit, as you well know, and I will always be happy to give you any support you need in quitting. I am a "therapist" - a respiratory therapist! I have TONS of ideas and lots of information that can help recharge your desire to stay away from the smokes if you ever need a shot in the arm so to speak LOL!
We're all very glad to meet you! Welcome!
Stay calm and carry on.

Hi Mindy. I too am new here. Started earlier this week. I am the Dir. of Palliative and Hospice Care in a skilled facility. I absolutely love my job, and am really good at it. But I have found that the weight is sucking the life out of me and affecting my job as well as other things. Hopefully the time has come to make some changes!

Hi everyone. This group was interesting to me as I know the stress of the caregiving field has left me to not always take such good care of myself. I am currently doing weight watchers and was looking for a support group to share ideas and offer supports. I also justg quit smoking one week ago ... so I am on a roll of making healthy changes. I just wanted to say hi and see if there were any other counselors/therapists out there, not that I am limiting my conversations, because I am not.
