AMYERS0927, After reading your email about preparing for IVF, I just had to add my thoughts, prayers and support to all the others. The advice you got about just taking care of yourself and not worrying about other goals that might interfere with this one is EXCELLENT. With all that's going on in your life, you need to be very gentle with yourself.
I have a friend who went through IVF. She had to do it more than once, but she and her husband now have beautiful, healthy and lively twin girls. You can do it, too!

Good luck to you both, I know how stressful it can get especially if it doesn't work the first few times. I have been an egg donor a few times (not a receiver) so I only had to do the first half, daily needles, ultrasounds, constant blood tests and egg retrieval. I felt so disappointed when it didn't work and it wasn't even for me!
Yoga sounds like a great idea!

Thanks to everyone! I think I am happy and sad and scared and nervous all at once! I have been so proud of myself for being healthy and active and it helps with my stress levels at work (I'm in my last year of family medicine residency - about to start at my own clinic!) I just ordered a yoga video and will plan on walking when it's not 90 and humid down here in Mississippi!

When you get to a plateau, think of it as a landing on the stairway to your goal. And maintenance is a lifelong plateau, so a bit of "rehearsal" for maintenance isn't the worst thing in the world
OMG, you have to have PRIORITIES! And how they can SHIFT with all the demands life ponies up to us!
Even a steady 30 minutes a day will do wonders to help you to stay in shape and when the time comes, I have no doubt you'll step up to the plate! :-)
The Team goals are there to help motivate us...I hope nobody EVER uses them to beat themselves up!

I have been faithfully working out for about 3 years now and have been a Sparkpeople member for over 3 months. My husband and I are having problems with conceiving and are trying in vitro fertilization for the first time. There has been a study released about the effects of cardiovascular exercise on IVF success rates. They found a 40% higher failure rate in the women who did more than just moderate walking or yoga. This just crushed my spirit today! I look forward to my stress relief on my elliptical machine every morning...and now I guess I have no choice but to switch to less intense walking no more than 30 minutes a day! So, I will not be able to contribute as much to our team goal now, but I promise I will make it up to you all if the IVF works and I have to get all the baby weight off! Please keep us in your prayers!
