A Virtual Pedometer
I enjoy running, hiking and just walking around my neighborhood. It's a great way to keep in shape.
You probably think I use some sort of high-tech pedometer to gauge my distance. Think again. I don't like to exercise with extra weight.
But that doesn't mean I don't keep track of my travels. I just use something simpler and less cumbersome--Gmaps Pedometer.
Gmaps Pedometer is a Google map. You can zoom in to your area. Then, click Start Recording. Double-click the map to highlight your path.
Gmaps Pedometer will calculate the distance you ran or walked! Save the route, or print a map for posterity.
You can even export your route in GPX format. This lets you share it with GPS software installed on your computer.
