Well, what do you know, all of that terrible medicine that my dr. had me take worked! Yes, I gained five lbs but I can breathe!

I agree with the idea of buying a HVAC company - we'd keep it in business even if no one else. In Georgia yesterday, the heat index was 105, its supposed to be hotter today! YUCK!!

Yeah for AC because I am so tired of the heat index going over 100 every day. Boy is it tough to breath some days.

Cherly, yes it is so hard in this weather and dust and dirt roads... the temp her eis now 96 with 90% humidity!! I now have central A/C, so it is a blessing,, got over a bout of sinus infection, strep throat, and ear infection last month,,
back to the walkin clinic last weekend for swollen glands, pharyngitis, more antibiotics, but lucky that inhalers were handy,,

we should all pool our $$ and buy a HVAC company,,, we sure keep them in business!!

SIX YEARS SPARKING!!

Lost 66 pounds!

Glad your feeling better and I have one of the kinds of docs as well. My allergist treats my asthma and allergy symptoms and he is great about getting the right ones for me as well. Very helpful with my other meds as well and know what he's talking about. Good luck and have a great weekend.

Well, all of those drugs worked, I have not had to use my rescue inhaler in a day and a half, so I get to start weaning myself off of the OVAR when I can go without a rescue inhaler for a week with only using it twice. Guess the dr knew what she was doing by having me take all of those awful drugs! Once more she has come through, she always gives me the right meds and advice and I survive whatever ails me. It feels good to have a great dr.

I've had to be extra careful to stay indoors with air conditioning and not spend any time outside at all. Anytime outside or any place without a/c has been hard on me. It's been really hot and humid here. Kate, I hope you're doing better!

I have been having such a hard time with the asthma that I gave up my gym membership. In May I had an attack and was down for three weeks. Then this week, the heat and humidity I guess, have been giving me fits. I have been told that I don't use my inhaler soon enough so I have been trying to use it at the first sign of distress. Anyone else having difficulty with the heat

Thanks for all of your comments, I am off of one steroid, last day for antibiotic, but it appears I may be on the inhaled steroid for a while as my back and chest still get heavy at times but I have improved so much. Does anyone out there take an inhaled steroid on a regular basis? Just wondering in case I have to.

So, I joined this team because I felt asthma coming on at full throttle. I do not think I have ever experienced this before as I usually just have mild asthma for a few days then it goes away. Well, not this week, it got so bad I went to the dr, whom I haven't seen in two + yrs as I have felt so good. Now, I am dealing with taking an antibiotic, two different steroids and to offset the effects of the antibiotic I had to go to Kaiser last night and get some meds recommended by the pharmacist, Culturelle and it seems to be working great. Using a spacer for the first time in my life after reading what all of you said and it works much better. Already feeling better but staying indoors until evening when the pollen count should be lower! Whew! What an experience! emoticon

The dust is a big thing around my house due to living on a gravel road. I stay inside most all the time due to the humidity levels being really rough on my asthma. Today will be a day of going on a field trip with my daughter then back to school to pick up my son from middle school. I have been staying busy this week with all my kids trips at the end of the year. I will then be off to Kentucky for a funeral of my uncle who passed away yesterday from cancer. Going to be hard for me with that with my little one who is 11 months. Busy life for me right now.

With the weather changing rapidly in Iowa all of the grasses bloomed and suddenly I found myself with my constant companion the inhaler at my side. I was running more than two miles before last week (used to run three before the asthma) but now just trying to hold onto 1.5 miles. Can't wait for the grasses to stop with the pollen thing!

They are walking dvds by Leslie Sansone that consist of 1,2,3 or 4 miles that you do inside your home. I have been doing them now for a few years and really enjoy them. Give me a good workout without having to go outside.

I am with the rest of you who are having seasonal asthma trouble. I think all the rain we had in southern California has caused more plants to bloom. All the flowers are beautiful, but it sure is making walking a challenge.

I get depressed pretty bad as well especially now that I have a hard time even breathing with my little one. She is becoming really active and I have no energy to get going with her so I push myself. I have been trying to do my cardio inside under the AC which helps me not to have an attack. Hang in there and hope things get better. I know my asthma acts up worse in the spring and then again in fall.

Was happy to find this site...It helps to have others to talk to and learn from. My asthma usually acts up more in March-April. The last couple days I have been using the Omron machine (along with the med) as well as Advair. I have no Singulair med left so bought some over-the-counter Claritin. Seems to be helping (hopefully). Can't wait to get my "energy" back. Does anyone else have a problem with getting depressed when their asthma acts up??

My asthma is definitely affected by my allergies but I'm apparently only allergic to dust mites so that could be anytime of year but the building I work in is really old and I have had issues with the dust mites thawing for the Spring. Hit me like a bus! I mix Claritin and Zyrtec because neither one works by itself!

Hi GAEA3070, and congrats on quitting smoking! Also it's great that you have the link to the Hunger site on your responses. I run a food pantry in PA, and its important to keep the issue of hunger in the foreground. Especially when its not around the holidays, when people are more inclined to think about those who may be hungry.

This will be my 1st spring with my asthma not under control, so I'm not looking forward to it. My doc has had me on Asmanex twice daily for the past month but just switched me to Advair. I did some research about Advair and decided not to try it, so I'm going to stick with the Asmanex for now, along with Astelin and Zyrtec twice daily. Fingers crossed...
