I bought a watch with a second hand, take my pulse for 15 seconds and multiply. That's the ancient method I use, I do this when I reach my rest stop on my 2 1/2 mile walk.

I have been using one of the Polar brand watch/chest band monitors for years now. Many of our friends who are runners and triathaletes also use Polar brand devices. Both my husband and I like them alot. Ours, have many added features that increase the price and may not be what you are looking for if you wanted basic ones.

Does anyone use a heart rate monitor to help them better manage asthma while working out? I'd like to buy one, but there are so many out there that I don't know where to start.
