know that feeling i had several arguements with the kinder garten over zakariya磗 medicine.he goes to school this september and i know i am goingto have the same problem.at the parents evening i brought up the subject of emergancy medicine in the school and the reply was .no-one needs it.i said my son does and she didn磘 know how to answer.i went up to her at the end of the evening saying we needed to get together to discuss my son磗 illness磗 and his various medication before he starts school and her answer was at thwe end of his first day make an appointment with his class teacher to discuss things.i said it had to be before he starts incase he needs it in the first day.the fist day is only 2 hours he wont need it in that time.no matter how i disagreed with her the headmistress wouldn磘 change her mind but she said i could stay in the hall of the school till school was over that day if i was really concerned he might need his medication in that time and then i can give it.she is obviously not taking it seriously and things i am an over-reacting mother.so looks like on the 15 september me and our 8 month old will be sitting in the school hall just incase and hopefully can have a talk with his teacher the end of the first day.fingers crossed.but the whole attitude of the headmistress that nothing would happen and the way she just wiped it off, makes me really concerned over his site in the school.

Christopher has allergies and sinuses that are pretty bad coughing wise and usually if he gets that they put him on an inhaler to help him cough it up. Every cold I get it always will settle into my chest and cause me to wheeze and gives me chest tightness but with Mikayla it seems she just gets the tightness so I keep a watch on her and she is real good about telling me when she gets it. Last year at school she needed her inhaler a few times for chest tightness and they didn't let her go get it which really made me frustrated so this year I am thinking about leaving it in her backpack where she can get to it no matter what instead of having to go to the nurse. I know it's not what they want but she needs easy access to it.

cherely love the new picture of the baby ,must get round to updating my pictures we took loads of the kids when we were on holiday.i am glad your daughter is not as bad as my children as it is sometimes the hell so to speak and is always a constant worry.having said that my own asthma is not so bad as yours and the other people on this team.it was when i was smaller but at the moment i only seem to get it when pregnant or if i have a cold or something irritates it.my husbands is pretty bad though.swings and round about so to say.do your children also have any asthma related illness磗 like nero-dermatitist or hay-fever?

I have a daughter with it but it is exercised induced. I have not had to endure what Everhopeful has but agree it's a scary thing. I have been hospitalized for it a couple of time and have to watch my heart rate with the inhalers for me. I am the only one that has asthma in my sisters but my mothers mom had it pretty severe. I pray that my 2 month old doesn't have it as she gets older. She is already into sneezing quite a bit and seems to get stuffed up but with saline drops it goes away quickly.

thanks and yes we are religious,i am muslim.what keepws me going through the tough times is that allah wouldn磘 give us anything he didn磘 think we could cope with.that and the thought that there is always someone worse off than ourselves.for example that time i thought we had lost zakariya, after he got out of intentsive he was put in a ward with one of boy who was 12.a dietitian cane to talk to us over the things zakariya is not allowed to eat.the parents of the boy was in the room and listening to what she was saying and said to me.thank god my child hasn磘 got any food allergies i don磘 know how you cope?i then asked her what her son had .he had epilepsie and because of a serious attact when he was 6 he has the mental age of a 6 year old.i didn磘 say it to her but i thought to myself thank good my child doesn磘 have that.so you see as we become used to the proplem and learn how to deal with it it doesn磘 seem so bad to us as to other people probably because we get used to it ,it is the norm and our children wouldn磘 be our children if they didn磘 have the things they have.it what shapes their live and makes them the person they are and what shapes our lives.let just say we should be thankful for small mercies.by the way looked up your spark page and have joined your team for people with children with asthma.

WOW. Sounds like you have been through a mess. And yet your name remains "ever hopeful". You are an inspiration to me. I cant imagine having to go through what you have endured. I dont know how you feel about religion, but your children will be in my prayers.

as both my husband and me have asthma we knew before our first child was born there was a 60% chance they he would have it .30% for each parent .when we found out he had it the dr. then informes us that any other children we would have had a 80% chance of having asthma because of a sibling having it.my oldest son and the baby has asthma and they both have it pretty bad,the specialist is trying to organise a 6 week re-hab for them but it is getting the ok from the medical insurance.
at the moment the older son is on viani forte 2 times a day,in the morning and night and salbutomol 4 times a day.(bith taken with the chamber)we also have pumicort and rectadolt always on hand for emergencies.he has just finished a corse of perdnison.he has been hospital 27 times with it and 25 of them times have been touch and go.one time i actually thought he was dead(a bit of me died that day)luckily we were in hospital with the specialst when it happened and one of the nurses picked him up and run to the intesive with him.i will never forget this feeling of blank fear and emptiness that came over me.it happened 3 years ago and it still scares me and has left me with a lot of issues.the middle son seems to be spared thoug he has other things to make up for it.but the specialist says he could always get it when he is older.the baby now 8 months old is really ill at the moment with it,he has been since he was about 8 weeks old. at the moment he is on 6 drops of salbutomol,4 times a day in the pari boy.supramylase 1 teaspoon 3 times a day and alergosonewhich has a betamethasone base 1 time a day 90 drops.the dr磗 are a bit worried about him at the moment because he is going blue in what they call the triangle every now and then.all three of my children have nerodermititus and problems with the heart.the oldest also has high graded food allergies hay fever, enlarged kidney ,stigmas in both eyes and hearing problem.the middle son has what is classed as lbk.a lebens bedrohlich krankiet which translated into english is a life threatening desiese but they don磘 know what it is.they know what it isn磘,by what they have ruled out but don磘 know what it is.when he was younger he was on a heart monitor with oxygen monitor for 16 months as his oxygen level used to go below 60% for no reason and he was always going blue.sometimes it is a struggle especially if they are all ill together.having said that a couple of times when the kids have been in together the hospital has put them in the same room together so i could be by them both.and then when zakariya went home first ayyub then got moved to the ward he should have been on.they had very kindly lent one of thier heart monitors to zakariya磗 ward so they could be together.other times i have had to fight to get the kids together in the same ward.sorry didn磘 mean to write a book.it is sometimes hard once you get started.it is nice to have people who knows what you are going through.it also makes you realise what your own parents went through with you and you apprieciate them more.

How many of you have passed your asthma onto your kids? I am sure its not something you planned on when daydreaming about how your children would be. My son has asthma and at first it was almost like a death sentence.
