I _just now_ (well a few hours ago) had a nasty asthma attack, and, have ended up resting much of today.

I had a bad bout with asthma in October and had to go back on oral Prednisone which I dread. I am feeling much better now though and often have less symptoms in the winter if I am careful to avoid the cold air. I have been able to work out more at the gym lately and that helps my asthma and weight loss. Merry Christmas, Bee emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

An indicator of this, is when I cannot get warm,, no matter what I do,, the RBC's are just not getting there to carry the oxygen to heat me,, evne iwth all this fat on me, I am still cold.
Has anyone else gotten this? I am afraid wha the actual winter will bring,, this is the first day of winter!! 29 degrees! Brrr...

I had a rough few months with the asthma and a severe attack a couple of times, needing steriods, not just the inhaler, but for the past two weeks it's been a bit better.

I've had a cold for over a week and it's taking a lot out of me. I normally don't rely on an inhaler but I've had to use it 2x in the last week. I have been able to exercise - and I even tried a new total body conditioning class - but I can feel the strain this cold has been on me. Thankfully it's almost gone. I have an appointment with the pulmonologist on Monday - hope alls clear

Went to Dr last week, he says my lung are clear, but my allergies are acting up. With the cold weather coming in I don't know how long I will stay clear.
The Dr. told me to keep taking Mucinex and my allergy meds and try to stay away from people who have become sick. Big change in our weather from last week in the 70's and this week low 50's and 60's. So much for the weather report emoticon .
I hope everyone is taking care of themselves and
God Bless all who have to go through all this.

The rain came and the air is clean. It smells so fresh! My breathing is easier and that is a blessing.
Yet another testimony fo mucinex. At my doctor's recommendation, I have been taking the mucinex daily for 2 years. It really does thin the mucus and makes things move more freely. You can feel the difference within just a few hours. By drinking your 8 glasses of water and taking that it has helped me avoid the mucus plugs that are such a bother. Glad you are feeling better.

Hi,
What has your doctor said. Is it running nose and congestion. I am prone to the same and right now I'm on Mucinex and it seems to be working well. Mucinex is good to get your sinus are acting and it'll even break up the mucus in your lungs. I'm not a doctor though but I know it's works for me.

I am in allergy hell. My entire property is surrounded by trees and I tested out 4+ allergy to the mold on grass and leaves!! There is a baseball diamond right behind my home and they have been cutting it and mowing all the leaves with a huge tractor,, even though we keep our windows closed, etc,, I have replaced all upholstered furniture iwth leather, tore up all carpets and refinished hardwood floors, repainted, , no pillows except bed pillows, all pillows and mattresses are wrapped in anti- dust mite wraps, got a new 92% efficiency furnace and A/C with super filter, new windows so stuff could not leak in the cracks, new house wrap and insulation,,,
short of blowing a bubble around us, I am at a loss of what else to do!!
I am home for the third day with this,, using inhalers like they are going out of style!!
I very seldom get ill anymore, but when the leaves bud in the spring and fall in autumn, I am a goner!!
any suggestions??

With the change-of-season, had to get back on my meds regimen, as I had found that I was struggling thru my occasional work-out routine without it. emoticon

Started back on my work-out routine yesterday and found that I'm struggling with my strength-training...cardio's good! emoticon

Not so good at the present time. I keep having to use my rescue inhaler a lot!! I think I need to make an appointment with my doctor to get something to help manage it better. I stick to the treadmill now, instead of getting out and walking. I'm afraid that I will get too far from home and have an episode.

I notice I get that tightness in the chest a lot sooner even though I'm doing the same type exercises as I was before this cold spell hit. I'm going to go invest in some face masks here soon to make sure I don't get wheezy and give myself an excuse not to exercise.

I have them with changes in the weather along with headaches. I really have to watch taking the inhalers due to the heart racing quite a bit with them. It's good to have you with us and look forward in getting to know you.

I don't have as many breathing problems now as I did when I was a kid. It's the sinuses that give me the worse problems. Any time of the year. The only time I have breathing problems is when I am sick.

I just finished a 7 day hospital stay and I'm home recovering. They tell me the allergy season is VERY BAD all over the nation this fall. I'm staying indoors, washing bed linens in 130 degree water and I've ordered the allergen wraps for my beds. Already had wood floors put in and walls painted.
Next week, I go to pulmonary rehab to learn what is good and safe for me in exercise. I also have an appointment with an allergist. I have allergic asthma and I've been seeing family doctor and pulmonologist, but now allergist is joining treatment team.

My asthma has been getting worse for quite a while. I am really having a time with it lately. I have stopped exercising for a long time now and am gaining more and more weight.

Could you share whatever knowledge you get from the asthma rehab with us. I could really use some tips on how to get going again.

Thanks

I'm home from a one week hospitalization and I'm determined to do a better job of monitoring my asthma. Most of all, I have to rest and STOP pushing myself when asthma is flaring.
I saw someone say she feels guilty when she takes time off and wonders what her coworkers think. I used to do that. Now, my coworkers are saying take time to heal and rest before you come back!!!!

Hey guys!
Glad to be reading some fairly positive posts out there - great! However,I totally sympathize with all you huffers and puffers out there, cause I am right there with ya! Using RI (=rescue inhaler, stolen from another breath board!) more than I would like to, but w/i normal parameters.
On the bright side, I'm FINALLY tapering on the prednisone (down to 12mg!!), which is FAB, and my body is thanking me (lungs maybe not) but I am extra-sensitive to every little squeak!
Hoping you all breathe easy today!

My asthma is kicking my butt lately, but cold season is starting early here. That never helps. I've also been a little lax about taking my Advair...time to get better about that. The other day, it stopped me during my Zumba class. How embarrassing! (because I forgot my rescue inhaler)
