I'm new on this thread, and I'm posting this on all the asthma teams - hoping to find my best group...
I've had adult onset asthma for about 5 years. Sometimes extremely serious and debilitating.
The links below can direct you to a study of how this diet can reverse asthma. there is a spark team for it, too, called Friends of Dr. Johnson. I'm on the team.
I also did a workout yesterday - even though it was my "Down Day" (low calorie day)
I am currently doing the 30% level and losing weight. But they recommend 20-25% for first two weeks - and the asthma study was at that level too. All of this is made clear on the web site.
Anyway, if you wan to try it, let me know. I do the Leptin Diet on my up days (Google Byron Richards...) and that is very helpful.
I've been on this plan for 10 days and I am currently off medications. I could feel an improvement after one week. (I was only on Asmanex -) Anyway - so far so good. I am encouraged for both weight loss and reversing asthma.
Prevention and treatment of disease
Based on a variety of sources of evidence, following the Johnson UpDayDownDay Diet™ will prevent, delay or improve a wide range of diseases associated with age. These include asthma, arthritis, atherosclerosis (heart disease, stroke), allergies, auto-immune disease, infectious diseases of viral, bacterial and fungal origin, diabetes, cancer and central nervous system disorders such as Alzheimers, Parkinson’s and multiple sclerosis.
We have completed the first human trial on the treatment of disease (asthma) with the JUDDDD and the results (see article) will appear soon in the peer-reviewed journal Free Radical Biology and Medicine. The study demonstrated marked improvement in symptoms in asthmatics and drastic lowering of free radical damage. www.johnsonupdaydowndaydiet.com/

PS To my old SP friends - It's been a very rough year... My beloved, healthy, athletic, tall, dark and handsome husband died in August 2012 from a very aggressive cancer... In the many months caring for him I was stressed and didn't "care" anymore, and put back on 30 pounds I had just finished losing...
A short, but very sweet, video tribute to this beautiful man: www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player
