I am avoiding processed foods, artificial sweetners, candy and ice cream. I can't trust myself to limit my portions. I think it's all or nothing with me. I'm trying to replace sweets with fruits or nuts. Sugar is addictive and it acts much the same way on your brain as coke, and other hard drugs. I, also, stopped drinking sodas last year. Although I only drank one or two diet sodas a day, it seemed to help.

The 100 calories snacks sound like a great idea, but once I eat a little sugar I get hungrier sooner and I don't want fruits and veggies. I want more sugar. As long as I make myself stay away from the sugar I'm ok. I think it has something to do with sugar raising and then dropping the blood sugar so quickly.

I've been moving slowly away from fruit as my go to and learning to delve into the multitude of veggies out there as they tend to have less sugar than the fruit and use fruit for special treats.
You gain strength, courage and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face.

Don't be afraid to give your best at what seemingly are small jobs. Every time you conquer one it makes you that much stronger. If you do the little jobs well, the big ones will tend to take care of themselves.

Hubby and I treat ourselves to smoothies a few times a week instead of ice cream. Right now we're getting loads of cherries from our cherry trees and freezing those. I put in a cup of milk, a small banana and cherries to taste.
Once a month, we go out for really good premium ice cream.
One of our discussion forums is Recipes, & I'm hoping people post healthy recipes. I have a book of Sugar-less desserts; no artificial anything, just sweetened with the fruit that's in them. There's one I posted for apple crisp, where apples & raisins are the only sweetener. SP has some great recipe ideas as well.
Good Afternoon team, so since joining this challenge I've been on a mission to find healthier alternatives to satisfy my sweet tooth. This morning I was packing my lunch and for the first time actually looked at the package of 100 calorie cookies I was about to toss in my bag. 7 grams of sugar! 11 little bitty cookies, 100 calories, and 7 grams of sugar! I am happy to announce that upon my recent trip to the commissary I discovered chocolate rice cakes! For just 120 calories (yes, 20 more calories * 60 calories a piece* ) I can have two big rice cakes. As far as sugar goes, for both cakes I'm coming in at a 8 grams of sugar (4 grams a piece). The numbers seem higher but rice cakes are definitely better than cookies, more filling, larger, and I even prefer the taste... the best part? I don't feel guilty for eating chocolate! Isn't that nearly every girl's dream? :)
