Today is a rest day for me. I've been busting my butt so I need a day off! It felt good to sleep in and relax this morning.

This morning was an hour in the pool.
Last night (Sunday 11/27) was a one hour run (ended up being 50 minutes)
Saturday 11/26 was 1 hour on the bike (16 miles) followed by 90 minutes of running (10 miles).

Thanks Joy. Unfortunately, since it's viral and not bacterial, there are no meds for the pneumonia itself. Just kinda living on cough medicine. The virus itself just has to run its course.
Which in turn, still is limiting how much "running" I am doing, although I am headed into the city tonight to do my usual speaking gig at NYU Medical Center. So I'll be hoofing it to and from Penn Station to the hospital (with a stop somewhere in between for something to drink - I'm thinking margarita :-).

Alan, I hope that the meds you are taking will help get you better soon. I am having the same problem. The coughing is the worst. I figure by Spring, I should be better. LOL

Wow ... didn't realize I'd been offline (more or less) for an entire week. Guess that's what a low-grade walking pneumonia will do to a guy.
Anyway, despite the coughing and occassional wheezing, I have gotten in my cardio, but have been avoiding the strength training. Got in some 12 miles of boardwalk "jalking" this weekend, and was on the treadmill several times during the work week last week. Not nearly at the pace I'd usually like, but enough where my body was moving.
Now, if only the coughing would go away for good... :-)

Did a 6 mile power walk this morning. Starting to bring in everything from outside and stuff it in the garage. A bit scared since we already did water pumping from the basement this month.
Wedding tomorrow night. I guess we shall see how that goes. Don't really want to leave the kids home alone in case the power goes out.
Stay safe everyone.

Hi Joy. Nothing specific here - other than we're planning on not letting anyone upstairs during the storm. THere is a ginormous tree that belongs to our neighbors that we have always worried could fall in a hurricane (even though it's a healthy BIG tree), and if it fell in our direction, it would take out the entire upper floor of the house. The only other precautions we're taking is putting my car in the garage (not that it's a particularly special car, but it's *my* midlife crisismobile), and keeping all our cats, and their carriers, in one room - just in case we have to evacuate, it will be easy to round them all up.
My wife and I lived in Port Jeff back when Hurricane Gloria struck - we were right in the path. It was pretty awesome to watch - trees bent at 90 degree angles, the color of the sky (a wierd glowing grey color). We were lucky - our apartments was across the street from Mather Hospital, and apparently we were on the same power grid as they were. So we were like the only residential building in the entire area that got their power back quickly. Everyone else was out for like 7-8 days.
Should be interesting.
Meantime... assuming we don't lose power tonight, I'm planning on being on the treadmill for exercise, as I was yesterday. I would love to be on the boardwalk during the storm on Sunday ... but I'm sure that sense of stupidity will pass before then and I'll wind up staying at home (and on the treadmill if we don't lose power).
Happy Hurricane!!

I have no recollection of what I did yesterday ... oh right... spent the evening with my mom helping her with the things she can't do anymore. I don't think it's cardio, but damn, I was exhausted by the time I was done.
Okay so ENJOYINGLIFE ... I don't have access to your Sparkpage, so I don't know if your profile picture is of you, kids, or who ... but if that is you in the picture, you don't look old enough to be working since 1990 (that would be a compliment btw :-).
Anyway ... cancelled the gym for tonight because my shoulders are flaring up, but will be on the treadmill.

I worked at liberty mutual in lynbrook from 1990 until 2003. Before that I worked for them in NYC at 10 Rock. Lynbrook address was 444 merrick road.
Today's movements involved an hour walk and an hour of power yoga.

When was that? My wife's uncle owned Steinberg Agency (independent broker) on Merrick Road in Lynbrook (up until he passed away several years ago - it's since become empty office space).
LOL - most people look at me funny when I say "reinsurance". Amazingly, I don't run into that many people in the (re)insurance industry. I work for XL Re.

I'm a former computer-geek, turned computer-geek-management. I work for a reinsurance company (companies that insure other insurance companies). Yup - past co-op city every single day ... at least going from L.I. to Stamford. Coming home, depending on traffic (especially Friday afternoons in the summer), I'm more likely to take the Hutch to the Whitestone instead of I-95 to the Cross Island. Bridges aren't so bad ... except for the G.W., which I have nothing to do with, but causes major traffic jams coming home where I95 hits the Bruckner.
What can I say? The job helps pay the bills. ;-)
