I thought it was more of an advertisement also.
If you're in the market for a slow cooker, it's a handy comparison tool I suppose.
My slow cooker is ancient, I picked it up on Freecycle.

(NEW) STARTING WEIGHT - 01 Jan 2012 - 169.4 lbs
165 lbs - new workout clothes - DONE!
160 lbs - haircut - DONE!
155 lbs - new workout music - DONE!
150 lbs - new jeans
145 lbs is my goal - end July 2014!
I've used the old fashioned round ones that don't lift out and really like that my newer one lifts out. It is so very heavy though I have to watch myself so I don't drop it. And yes, I like the locking handles. I also have a little 1.5 quart pot that is so much fun to use.

I like my cooker because it lifts out to wash.

I'll be the negative nelly - i found the article to be lacking.
I have the first crock pot and love it.
My mom and sister have the one with the locking sides and spoon slot and i have used while at their homes - it worked for recipes i've done in mine.
I have also experienced a red sauce crock pot mess after a quick turn in my car - so the locking handles would definitely be something i would look for in the future - now a days i put it in the seat belt - with towels around it!
But all in all the article i felt was an advertisement.
Anyone else more positive than i? :)
