Can't wait to try the ACV.

My potatoes never fit, so I always end up doing them separately. Kale Colcanon, usually.

I'm a little late on this thread, but when I saw it I smiled, because every year I make a nice corned beef & cabbage dinner in the crockpot with onions, carrots, & potatoes. the liquid is apple cider vinegar, the spice packet, extra water & sugar. Its my favorite and now I have my best friends WHOLE family hooked on it as well. I just love holidays & traditions!

Here are 18 Irish Soup & Stew Recipes in SparkPeople.com. Some of them specify a crock pot; some do not; most could be easily converted to crock pot recipes:

With cabbage being on sale this week due to Saint Patrick's Day, what are some alternative cabbage dishes for the crock pot that your family enjoys that can employ cabbage?

Here are some cabbage rolls recipes:

I omit the pork, use beef instead, and simply wilt the leaves by running hot water from the tap over them.

Cabbage rolls are great for rural North America as many farmers raise hogs for their own use, and have lots of ground pork in the freezer, and have cabbage in their gardens.

Got this today in email from About.com. I haven't looked yet but it's probably already in SparkRecipes. I have a favor to ask; no pressure, only if someone's up for it. Anyone up for going on a scavenger hunt in SparkRecipes and try to find this exact recipe already there? Thanks alot, please do so and post it.

You can sign up for About.com's free emailed crockpot recipes if desired, here:

Corned Beef and Cabbage

6 to 8 medium potatoes, peeled and cut into thick (about 1/2-inch) slices
3 medium carrots, thinly sliced
2 ribs celery, thinly sliced
1 corned beef brisket, about 3 pounds
1 cabbage, about 2 pounds
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1 1/2 cups water

Lightly butter or spray a 5 to 6-quart crockpot; layer potato slices over bottom of pot with carrots. Place corned beef on vegetables. Slice cabbage into 8 wedges and arrange around meat. Sprinkle with the pepper and add water. Cover and cook on LOW setting for 7 to 8 hours, until meat and vegetables are tender.

Remove meat to a platter; cover with foil and rest for 10 to 15 minutes before slicing.
Serves 8.

Sorry no other info given such as nutrition or serving sizes of each eighth. Also my crockpots are old and slow; so I'll be slicing my potatoes thinner than 1/2 inch.

Also if I make the Kale Colcannon linked in a previous post below, which is a good way to get the #1 most highly nutritious veggie, kale, into your meal [not to mention an excellent way to impress the kiddos and let them have fun with their food via serving green mashed potatoes]; then I won't put any potatoes into my crockpot corned beef & cabbage, because they will already be in the Kale Colcannon. Up the low carb veggies, reduce the carb foods, in every meal! Greens are also highly alkaline, meaning good for your pH levels.

It's famous Irish beer, with a taste all of it's own. Technically, it is an alcholic beverage called "stout". Yeah, and it's stout alright!

Wikipedia: "Dry or Irish stout (in Irish, leann dubh, "black ale") is very dark or rich in colour and it often has a "toast" or coffee-like taste. The most famous example, Guinness, is from Ireland. Two other Irish dry stout breweries are Murphy's and Beamish among others[citation needed]. The alcoholic content and "dry" flavour of a dry or Irish stout are both characterised as light, although it varies from country to country."

There are about a million crockpot recipes for corned beef & cabbage in SparkRecipes. Anyone know a really good one? Please help us out.

Here's my Kale Colcanon (not crockpot), which I think I'll make so I can finish the recipe. I never went back and fixed the serving sizes. And now I don't remember; have no clue.

Potatoes. Cabbage. Corned Beef. Carrots & Onion. What else?

I love the yellow St. Patrick's Rose, has tips of the petals that are slightly greenish, just a tinge, but the best thing about them is they have the most beautiful fragrance. I look forward to them every year. You know how many cultured roses smell like nothing at all, which is really disappointing? Safeway grocery store for those of you in the States, has a dozen long stem, large roses for $10 every day throughout the year. During Valentine's I remind myself I'm buying Saint Patrick's roses a little later as a special treat. They perfume the room.
