I like FlyLady's, and Stephanie the Crockpot Lady tells about all of hers on her blog. I don't remember if they are programmable or not, though. Links to both are on the 1st thread at the top of the team page, "Linked Crockpot Recipe Websites".

All of mine are old, manual.

I thought I was the only paranoid person who put her crockpot in the metal sink in case of fire lol!

I had 1 that ws 4 quarts. And then I bought an oval 1 and gave it away. we are only 2 people. The 4 quart made a lot of soup for us.

Planning on having a more positive outlook out for my life. I thank GOD for my blessings everyday.. Thin is in and Fat is out. . .•*´¨ ) ¸.•*¨) -:¦:-♥

I think i have this one:http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0024XKV6E/ref=pd_lpo_k2_dp_sr_3?pf_rd_p=486539851&pf_rd_s=lpo-top-stripe-1&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd_i=B001KVZTFO&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_r=104FHC3MJ1QHJMT83WY2

I think my mom and sister have this one - i love that you can clamp the top closed for transport in the car! I have had to wash out my car due to a mishap, and that was awful!

But i love the programmable, that you can set for 4 hours or whatever and then it will switch to warm! Great even if you are at home and get busy doing something and forget to look at the clock.

Also - decide on your size, do you need the 6quart or the 4? or both? I have both and always wish i had the one in between too - hubby put his foot down on that though. Apparently 2 people do not need 3 crock pots... whatever.... :)

I'm as freaked out about an unattended crock pot as you! I always check the cord, make sure nothing is within 2 feet of it etc etc etc! Cracks up my husband!

I've also been known to put it in my sink, with the water faucet turned to the other side, since that is all metal and couldn't "burn down"!

good luck - i've blathered enough!

I'm looking for a new crock pot. If anyone can recommend one that is fairly affordable. I'm looking for something in the $50 range, is programmable, and tempertaure would be nice but not a necissity. I need something I feel safe leaving when I'm at work. (is that safe?) Right now all I have is an old one that is on/off, high and low. Thanks!

Goal to be down 25 lbs by Christmas from 9.14.11.
