Okay it was delicious! I did have to add salt though, which I rarely do but it was very good!
I used 4 pork chops and 2 turnips. I browned the chops on the top of the stove, scraped the pan to make a gravy, diced the turnips and then threw it all in the slow cooker. I cooked it on low about 8 hours.

According to my nutritional software program it is 215 calories, 1 fiber, and 8 fat per serving.

We served it over brown rice which I did not include in the above nutritional values.

Anyway, we have always loved it on top of the stove and still love it in the slow cooker!

Turnips are supposed to be good for you, right? And aren't they cheap? I can't wait to find out how this is!

No... not sure how fattening it is but probably not the healthiest meal. I actually never heard of it either until I married a Cajun... maybe it is a Cajun thing?? lol
Anyway it is delicious! Just brown your pork chops, then add some water and scrape the brown stuff off the bottom of the pan to make a gravy. I add a little Tony Chachere's dry roux mix (it doesn't take much, maybe a couple of tblsp?) then cut up your turnips into bite size pieces and just let it cook til turnips are soft. It is delicious!
Oh, and I season my pork chops w/ Zatarain's more spice.
Anyway, I think I will brown my pork chops tonight and cut up the turnips then throw it all in slow cooker in the morning before work.
Will let you know how it turns out.

Is this a SP recipe? I have never heard of combining these two ingredients but I don't see why you couldn't make it in a crockpot.
